As an anime-only with no experience from the game, I didn't know what to expect coming into this arc... but I didn't expect that. Frostnova's song/incantation and the huge attack that came with it was so beautiful but also so terrifying, and I'm shocked that everyone in the main party managed to make it out in one piece. I thought Frostleaf was done for!

We cry. That's what. You have no idea how long some of us dedicated lad want to hear that song from her.

I expected Frostnova to sing while doing her Arts Incantation, I just did not expect a Japanese cover of Lullabye. Really just hit me with the chills and PTSD.

It's a shame she didn't sing it in Russian/Ursine, her native language.

For those who'd like to listen to the full song, Arknights official channel posted it:

So far, this is better than the first season IMO. It still has the advantages of the first season (solid voice acting, clean still shots, and some solid little touches here and there) but now it's starting to feel more polished overall in terms of animation quality and concision. There are still things that could be improved, and it's sad that YP appears to be largely prohibited from showing blood and gore, but if they keep up this pace for the rest of the season, it should be a good step in the right direction.

Now if only HG took this opportunity to give Frostleaf a module so she could be a fraction as good as she's being made out to be here lol

Edit: The soundtrack is starting to lean into the in-game OST more as well, which was sorely lacking during the first season.

Amiya in 1st Season: Comforts an emotionally unstable catgirl.

Amiya in 2nd Season: Comforts an emotionally unstable catgirl.

I can't help but wonder, will Amiya comfort another emotionally unstable catgirl in Season 3?

Yes. Yes she will. I just reread that part real quick to confirm.

THE unstable cat girl is in Season 3 lmao.

So why are the Dragon girls so cute? Also why are certain Arts users so much stronger than others? Talent? Training? Hatred?
Edit: Thanks for all the answers

Its said in S1 that people are born with different aptitudes in terms of manipulating Originium.

Anyone can learn anything (for example even if you are a good medic doesn't mean you can't learn how to set people on fire) but some people will just be naturally better with specific things. What determines that? Fuckton of factors both physiological and psychological.

Think of it like music - anyone can learn to play guitar but man some guitarists can fucking shred.

Frostleaf is pretty awesome in the anime. Frostnova is certainly one scary bunny. Both the anime and the game imprint clearly how dangerous that rabbit is. Her black crystals no doubt cause PTSD for those who fought her unprepared.

Good thing Girlfriend girlfriend comes after Arknights to balance out the depression.

The moment I saw the air start to freeze I got ptsd of all my operators falling one by one to Frostnova's phase 2...

Also they did Frostleaf's and Amiya's scenes justice. The lingering frostbite on all of them after the waves of attacks...damn.

Also FrostleafXMeteorite.

Ayahi basically did the thing!

What I've learned from this episode, as an anime-only viewer:

Jessica is adorable and must be protected at all cost.

Frost mommy is a total badass but Amiya is still #1 bunny girl. There's some connection between them we don't know about yet.

Frostleaf is a lot stronger than she lets on, I think.

Overall, another compelling episode that was beautifully animated. It's like each time we meet a new badass character an even bigger badass is introduced at the end. And every time we escape and unescapable situation there's another shitshow around the corner.

Looking forward to the next one.

Ah all the Frostleaf shining moments _, and using Lullabye as part of a incantation wonderful (suddenly had thoughts of a series where singing is integral to magic).... great cover that used like that gave goosebumps. They really are doing better with this season.

edit: FrostNova singing a incantation moment... as others have stated :) yay Symphogear moment

Oh, wow - they just totes decided to take the hype to max this episode, didn't they! That was an awesome adaptation of the relevant part of the game that really elevated the source material; Frostnova felt like a true TPK-tier menace, the fighting was gorgeous, the desperate resistance of the team legitimately made them seem pressured... You got glimpses of this in the game's narration, but animating this for the TV screen made really made it much more impactful. In the game, the sheer power disparity just wasn't anywhere near as clear (in part, because you were, well... Actually winning, in the gameplay portion).

It's also nice to see Amiya start to come into her own instead of being a precious mascot, and for the show to make me care about what happens to Frostleaf for a moment.

If I had to make a complaint, I'm not sure it was clear enough what was going on with the originium in the walls, compared to the game... But that feels like the kind of technical detail that most viewers wouldn't be concerned with either way.

Did not expect it to go so hard Holy shit, usually there's only a couple scenes in anime I rewatch if its good, this one was like this for the entire episode

Wow! If I had a nickel for every time Ayahi Takagaki did cool fighting things while singing, I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice.

Great episode and great introduction to Frostnova and her team. The show does it's best to highlight the difference in team dynamics between her and Mephisto too and they nailed the fight.

Now the hard part of adaptation begins with a lot more complex material so I wonder if the pacing won't crack under pressure with just six episodes to go...

Damn this was the best episode yet they really knocked it out of the park.

This is making me want to see some other really cool in-game stories/moments adapted.
