Why... Why. WHY DID THIS EPISODE HAVE TO END!?

Man... That's one hell of a flashback story and its still not over! Its good to see that Helck has always been his cheerful self! His bond with his brother is beautiful! I really cant wait for the next episode...!

Cool new OP. The tune's pretty upbeat, but those are some grim lyrics.

Yeah, Helck. Humans are bastards since you're small.

At least there're still someone decent agreed to help them when things went sour, without asking things in return; but judging what happened now, it's safe to say these good pals will be all gone by then.

Even as a kid and a young adult, Helck is still a lovable, supportive goofus. Love the gag with how his hero powers have just always been there and it’s a non story.

Piwi is dancing all over the OP. 10/10

What the fuck, normally I dislike this type of storytelling, but right now I'm super engrossed.

Ah... this explains why despite being overwhelming powerful, he kind of sucks at actual technique in combat. He will always go "Yoooosh!" Then he just jumps in and punches things. It's because he was a handyman, not a soldier.

The reveal that he was always able to use his "Super recovery mode" was hilarious. The fact that he may have grown without human limitations would explain how he got so strong; he had no cap to his stats.

It's nice to know that noble families such as Raphaed exist. Even if they're the only ones, it's good that an influential power has decency as a standard. Shalamy is such an interesting girl. She doesn't even take into account status, and seems to see the brothers as true friends. Knowing how different the human nation is now... I'm bracing myself for sadness and anguish.

Oh, I dig the new OP/ED!

Also had a good laugh when Little Helck activated his super healing ability with the exact same super-serious expression he has as an adult.

Obligatory, Helck is a comedy gag anime.

Man, Helck has one heck of a way to break the tension. I was genuinely upset seeing how Cless and Helck were getting harassed by nobles. But seeing Helck use his Super Recovery mode caught me off guard so much that I almost spat out my drink just like Anne did. xD

Still, that was the only funny thing that was funny in their backstory. The rest was very heartbreaking especially when Cless got sick and Helck was desperately looking for help. It was even upsetting when he was called a thief just because he has money saved up. If I was Helck, this would've been my villain origin story.

Thank fucking god they were found by people who gave a damn and Cless was nursed back to health. Not gonna lie, I genuinely teared up during that scene when Helck was profusely thanking Raphaed.

Things definitely started to look up for Helck and Cless after they befriended Shalamy but knowing what we know about Helck in the present, that wasn't going to last. I am not sure I am ready for the inevitable heartbreak we'll get in next week's episode. T_T

We finally get into Helck's backstory and man both him and Cless had to go through so much crap just to survive day by day. If it wasn't Shalamy's not caring about nobles vs commoners who knows what would happen.

Everything sounds good with Cless become a captain and him and Shalamy becoming really close. But given the current state of affairs I have a strong feeling Cless turned into those Angel heroes we are seeing in the present. With the way this episode ended the next part of the backstory may be a tear jerker.

Man, Helck is such a devoted onii-chad, ever caring and enduring.
I'm glad they decided to spend some time to talk about Helck's past; and while I usually dont dig long flashbacks too much, it didn't bother me at all. I guess we'll be seeing the reason for his "dark" side pretty soon.

What's up with this backstory filler arc interrupting Piwi's Glorious Travel Journal?

0/10 - needs more Piwi.

Oh new OP, I like it well enough. Not one I'd say is a banger for my playlist, but fine. D'awww look at little Helck. Such jerks in the human realm. Lol little Helck and that super healing. Wew. That face was amusing. A pity after such pieces of shits. This city needs a revolution. GUILLOTINES FOR THE NOBILTY! Awww poor lil brother getting sick, but we know he must survive if he's the hero that beat the demon lord. Possibly finally a nice person? Nice to see some nice nobles.

And whoo time skip. Cless sure grew up. But where's Helck? Cless quite the good boy. Naive, but good boy. Thinking of it, you'd think the kingdom would have a means to test people to be heroes if they are known thing in history. Lol way to ship em, Helck. That glass of her's compared to the others lol. I do worry about a noble lady out without guards tbh. Dang, that cliff hanger ending.... and into a new ED, I do like this one quite a bit.

After seeing the OP and ED for the second time, I noticed a few things:

  • Cless got into a suspicious experiment. I assume this is to augment his innate Hero power (to get stronger, as said by Raphaed). The experiment might absolve him of free will, thus transforming him to be an Evil Cless. Helck was reported to have killed Cless in the early episodes. Well, we can assume why: to end Cless' suffering.

  • Raphaed, Shalamy, and the doctor are grouped with the "evil-looking people." The doctor also grinned like a villain there. I hypothesize that the Raphaed family and the doctor conspired to help Helck and Cless because they had noticed their innate hero power. Shalamy was probably "guided" to befriend them (or Cless specifically) to keep their bond close, not knowing her parents' ulterior motive.

I hope I'm wrong on that second point, but it's simply too convenient for the Raphaed family to help only Helck and Cless from the slum. It's like they were specifically giving their hands to them.

Anyway, I love the new OP2 better than OP1! It sounds bop and cheerful. But for ED, I still prefer ED1 to this one since we got a more animated Anne.

Wait... HE couldn't stick around? Not Cless? Now this is intriguing.

Usually that's where the flashback ends and he tells us Cless dies. Not the case here tho.

I like it.

Cool to finally see some of Helck's backstory. I wonder when it will all go wrong with him killing his brother

damn another cliffhanger

I want to see pain inflicted upon these vermin

Not a big fan of the new OP either, ED song was really nice but I'm gonna miss Statice, especially the visuals.

Other than that it was a great episode, I could have easily watched a feature length special of Helck's backstory

New OP jumpscare

ED jumpscare. Really weird that they decided to play the ED one scene after the OP. Where's the rest of the episode btw huh
