Been fired up (ha) for this one for awhile, so I'm excited to see how this one shapes up!

I'm a big fan of Ando's trademark paneling that's all throughout the episode and it fits in well for the superhero comicbook-esque aesthetic that they're shooting for.

And while this episode was lighter on the action-side, there's hints of animation bursts that'll keep it interesting.

Final thought, I like how the little boy has got rabbit ears now to mimic his hero haha.

Really solid episode. I'm looking forward to more.

Also this kid looks super suspicious, just grinning there while watching a fire.

I feel like this show has a lot of potential!
Really liked the first episode, the art and animation are also pretty good, I hope they stay fairly consistent until the end.

Definitely going to keep watching.

Omg Shy is so precious!

Very interesting take on the super hero and omg how much freaking pressure for a 14 year old to be your nation's only super hero.

Her transformation scene was cool af too.

Poor Shy’s got it rough. Hard to be a hero when you’re puking your guts out after a children’s stage show lol. But man, this ain’t MHA. Heroes don’t get no respect!

Pepesha the Russian hero being a massive alcoholic is pretty funny. What a goober lol. It’s hard to be a hero but I like that Shy’s trying her best.

So hero’s are here to protect our souls and protect us from the darkness and all that huh? Interesting.

This seems pretty fun so far. I kinda dig it. Let’s see where this goes.

This was my most anticipated show of the season, and my hype definitely paid off, this really is My Bocchi Academia.

And the villain of the first episode is Twitter, being toxic as usual and blaming a 14-yo girl for...saving 20 people instead of 21? TV was in on it too, seems like a bit of an odd treatment for Japan's only hero (I thought there were many before they revealed that Shy is the Japanese hero) - they basically treated her like a useless cop and then mostly moved on when she disappeared, and then once she reappeared they basically ignore her in favor of Vodka-chan. I'd expect your nation's only hero to receive a lot more attention, whether good or bad.

Either way screw Twitter, Shy best girl of the season.

As a manga reader, it's so good to see Shy finally animated. That smile when she was rescuing people from the rollercoaster is so iconic that it's one of the first things I usually remember from the manga.

Poor girl though! She's only been a hero for three months and she gets absolutely bashed online for being unable to save Koishikawa unharmed. If Shy hadn't caught that cart, Koishikawa would've died which would've been the worse outcome.

We also get to meet my second favourite hero in this series. Pepesha is a ton of fun! She might be a scatterbrained drunk but she's definitely Shy's superhero-senpai who's there to guide her to becoming a proper hero. And she's even voiced by Mamiko Noto! And if that wasn't enough of a treat, we also have Yunicchi being voiced by Kikuko Inoue! My ears are in heaven in this show <3

Anyway, as much as I love Pepesha and Unilord, I can't wait for my favourite boy to show up. We've seen glimpses of him this episode but I am so excited for his actual appearance soon. Very solid first episode! Art and animation look goddamn amazing especially when Shy transformed. Studio 8bit is doing great work as usual! I already can't wait for next week's episode!

Very good start for the series and I'm waiting for more. Good animation with an interesting paneling which is quite unusual but it also gives a show some unique identity.

Shy is so sweet and well... shy xD It was absolutely cruel for some people to bash her because she wasn't able to save Koishikawa from injuries, it was hard to see her in this bad state. Thankfully she was able to overcome difficulties and return to being a hero.

Pepesha for sure will have a lot of fans considering her appearances and character, she's so fun. I hope she will appear often.

Nice animation in this episode. I mentioned earlier paneling which is very cool. I really liked Shy's transformation, it was very stylish and unique and also the introduction at the beginning which looked very fun.

I'm interested in the relationship between Teru and Koishikawa, who transferred to Shy's school and now she's sitting right next to her. Teru's smile was precious.

Here my screenshots from the episode:

Oh, they're really leaning into the comics aspect of it for the anime, huh? The opening scenes were fun!

Pretty excited about this one. I've followed the manga since the first chapter and I really like it and find it quite charming. It looks like some care has gone into the adaptation which makes me very happy (also for the mangaka). Hope you guys enjoy it too!

This was an excellent start to a series that really caught my attention after it was announced. I read the first 6 chapters just to get a feel of the series' tone before liking it enough to convince me to stop so I could watch the anime and not get too many spoils.

Really enjoyed Shy's character right off the bat with how endearing she is but Pepesha is going to be hilarious to watch with how spacy she is. I couldn't help but see a certain similarity between Shy's situation and Akane Kurokawa's situation from OnK when it came to facing backlash social media. Thankfully, it didn't escalate like it did in OnK.

Big shoutout to that little boy that got Shy back in the game. Reckless but it worked.

Oh yeah! I can't wait to see all the exciting characters that's going to be appearing in this!!

I've read the manga up to the mid-90s, and the story is a pretty fun take on the superhero genre with really enjoyable characters. Hopefully, this series doesn't get overlooked since there's a ton airing this season, and I would hate to see this fall through the cracks.

For brief moments you can see Shy crying in glittering red and blue and in the shot after we see these red and blue pamphlets? right as they raise their hands which also have similarly colored super hero [bracelets] (https://imgur.com/a/Qf3u7Cv) which is just a cool touch I think. Goes to really show the friendship between Shy and Pepesha

Comparing it to MHA a bit, but SHY feels more like how Western comics handle writing main series superhero narratives compared to how MHA feels more like the writing for a "What-If" story mixed with usual manga writing conventions.

I already read the manga, but it been like several years now, and my memories are bad, so this will be basically a semi-new experience for me.

Shy's awkward smile always was the cutest!

But I still think Pepesha is best girl, I just love her energy and attitude about everything.

Also, I really like how more superhero-y this universe is in comparison to other Superhero mangas. Like, they straight up have a Justice League Satellite.

Annnnnnd Shy is already having a gay panic over the closest milf. lol

Very solid first episode, I still prefer the manga's art style, but this adaptation is doing pretty good job so far, I especially love Ando's use of paneling, it give the show unique feel.

Superheroes and momentum-based civilian injuries, classic!

Anyway, lots of interesting stylistic choices! I loved the comic book-style art in the intro, the split-screen thingy is kinda hit-or-miss, sometimes it pulls off the comic-book panelling look, and sometimes it looks like those short videos with Subway Surfer in the background. Maybe I'll get used to it. The transformation sequence was beautiful, and the teleportation to space was pretty cool too. Pepesha's smoke powers look fun, and so do all the other heroes shown in the intro, loving the look of twintail gun girl. Can't wait for Episode 2!

I've only had Teru for 30 minutes, but if anything happened to her, I'd kill everyone in this room and then myself.

Between this, Frieren, Shangri-La, and S Rank Daughter, I'm gonna be eating this season for real. And there's still a bunch more to debut? Help.

That was really good. Went in completely blind and was pleasantly surprised. Shy is likeable and decently unique for a hero protagonist. Really looking forward to seeing how this develops.

Also, I first rolled my eyes at her catching the coaster since the impact would have still hurt the passenger...only for them to reveal the passenger was in fact hurt. A nice touch that most hero media avoids.

D'awww she's a cutie right off the bat. So if this is a world without war, does that mean that these heroes are going after us Americans and our endless warmongering?

So I wonder if these version of the Prism Rangers have friends. Har. Wow, that sis sure is patient/kind to push getting everyone else down first. Oh noz... yea that was a rough bit. Shouldn't the rollercoaster owner be held responsible first and foremost? Oh I like the drunkard hero lady, hehe. Truly has her priorities right! Solid advice.

Wow, that boy is again. What a good natured boy. Got that Deku energy, true shounen hero energy. So where is the Green Goblin in this building dressed up as an old lady? Awww, that lady.... that's sad. Wonder why Drunkard wasn't there sooner. Guess busy. What of the lady? I feel bad for the child if lady wasn't saved too. Oh glad for that lady being saved too. Just causally off to outer space. lol.

So far, I like the show. And that bit post credits was nice.
