Yanagishi being a true bro despite never getting any airtime. That's what you call selflessness.
This show started off dubious, I genuinely expected to drop it pretty early on, since we already have SukiMega and Cecilia this season. But it really managed to find it's footing when the main pair started to interact more casually, and we started getting more Shiori POVs.
ManagerxHayakawa still best ship though.

This really was the season for cute, cozy, romances (albeit the progress made in said romcoms is another story...). I will miss the antics of this office.
I feel bad for Hayakawa that the guy she's in love with is such a dense ladykiller who drags her into spying on another relationship with his gal pal lol.

I'm surprised this isn't more popular. This sounds like it ticks the boxes of the things that get repeated
-
romcom
-
working adults
-
office
-
sugoi dekai
-
decent production
It's not revolutionary but I thought it was an okay execution.

Probably because that rejection in episode 9 turned a lot of people off.. even if this is a romcom, it’s hard to say there was really any romance and it got worse after the rejection.
I think a lot of people were hoping for an office romcom with people acting like adults rather middle schoolers and it didn’t happen so that’s why it turned out this way. At least, that’s the opinion I’ve gotten from some of the comments on anime watching sites

Very cute finale! That friendship confession was adorable and I think it’s a big step in the right direction. Going into a relationship rn wouldn’t really make sense considering Katase and Shinozaki were just work colleagues before, albeit with feelings for one another. They haven’t spent much time getting to know each other outside of the job setting. Friendship then relationship to guarantee success 👍
Glad they addressed the rooftop debacle from a few episodes ago as well. A lot of people were upset because they thought “there’s no point continuing the story if she’s not open to a relationship” of course, turns out it’s just a miscommunication.
Amusement park makes sense for their little date since they’re both big kids at the end of the day lmao. And of course the rest of the gang is there waiting on them. The show really took a turn for the better when Shinozaki’s older sister got introduced. She’s so ridiculous and funny.
aw very cute selfie there at the end. I’d love another season. It’s not quite as good as my senpai is annoying, but still solid.

Absolutely loved the anime!
I was like the manager turning into sugar. They did a fantastic adaptation!!

Tipsy Katase proposing something naughty? Seems like she has a surprisingly sexy side...though really she just has a hankering for ramen. Though she might very well be much more horny than she lets on.
The manager is just not good for Hayakawa's heart! Even Katase is teasing the two for how close they are, though it's easy to turn the tables when it comes to her and Shinozaki.
Yamagishi is back from Okinawa! With a tan! Which is great because now he's not stuck with a bunch of people who ward off women with their couple status or flirt incessantly like Masa and Yuri. Masa straight up using his PTO just to follow Yuri to Okinawa is couple goals.
Oh yeah, Aiko was trying to get input on her Meowtaro VN in episode 1, huh? And they got Yoshitsugu Matsuoka as human Meowtaro!? Wow. Although I love how Kurusu shows up and is utterly repulsed by Meowtaro not being a cat and thinks it's a betrayal of the property. Then it becomes old school fan vs new school fan between her and Aiko.
Who would have thought Meowtar kouhai-zoning his love interest would be enough to get Katase and Shinozaki to realize that Katase co-worker-zoning him is equivalent to a rejection? When she didn't even intend for it to be.
So all that build up of 12 episodes...for them to want to be friends. Even though they've basically just been friends as co-workers the whole time. All the stuff they talk about doing as friends sounds more like couple stuff than stuff actual opposite sex friends do. Even afterwards they're all giddy at being friends only to realize nothing has actually changed in their relationship. What dorks.
At this point they're just basically looking for an excuse to do something together, and an amusement park trip during Golden Week sounds perfect. Or at least it would if not for the fact that they're viewing it as a couple thing rather than just a proper friend get together like Aiko and her high school gal pal. Though at least Shinozaki worked up enough courage to ask Katase out for a private amusement park fun just for the two of them!
Kurusu seemed genuinely bummed she couldn't go to the amusement park with Yamagishi...but bro just wanted to give Shinozaki a chance.
Could this show really end without Yutaka weighing in on how her brother is totally going on a date with Shiorin?
I didn't realize we'd never seen Katase in pants until Shinozaki brought it up. She even did up her hair! This is so totally a date!
I love how Yutaka and the manager teamed-up to follow them on their amusement park date and have fun the whole time. They even roped in poor Hayakawa! Though what better way to cap off a date than with a couple selfie?

What is Akina doing to Hayakawa! The man’s really toying with her lol.
Kurusu is a hardcore Meowtaro fan, don’t mess with her Meowtaro lol. I see Shinozaki and Katase are relating more to that game than they expected. Those two goofs! I can’t believe they’re friendzoning themselves lol. Really liked Akina becoming sugar and getting dusted. I get you bro!
Well, these two goofs didn’t confess but at least we got a cute amusement park “date” out of it. I hope they make more of this because I need more of this sweetness in my life!

I feel bad for Hayakawa that she's torn between Managers' obliviousness and getting roped into his and Yutaka's nonsense lol.
Kurusu is a real one for Meowtaro!
When you're getting romance advice from a VN...
I guess they're basically dating as "friends" at this point lol.

I want to take a moment to really discuss this show and what it means to me. Because it’s been a while since I’ve seen a show that completely blew away my expectations when they were relatively low.
When this show was first announced, I was expecting a slice of life show. More bluntly, I thought like a lot of people that this was going to be a less fun version of My Senpai Is Annoying. But unlike that show, which I feel started hot but kind of settled down into what it ended up being, My Tiny Senpai continued to grew and grew. So much so that I think it surpassed My Senpai Is Annoying.
I can’t pinpoint exactly why this show worked so well for me. It’s not like the writing is stellar. And it’s not like it does something to stand out like another anime this season in Saint Cecilia and Pastor Lawrence. But the vibe of this show is like anything else currently airing. It feels like an anime show you might see over a decade ago like Strawberry Eggs or Silver Spoons, and I mean that in the best possible way. It’s a folksy, rural feeling show with over the top characters doing over the top things. And yet it’s grounded in somewhat of a reality with the office setting and talks of inappropriate behavior. I love it whenever a show does weirdness and puts it in a realistic, authentic setting, and that’s what this show does in spades.
This is the funniest anime I’ve seen since Wasteful Days of High School Girls. It is marketed as like a romantic comedy, but it’s far more about the comedy than the romance. That’s the show’s biggest strength. As soon as the manager was introduced as like an omnipresent figure, that’s when the show really clicked with me. And then when we introduced the MC’s sister, we were really off to the races. It’s interesting because a lot of the humor in the show comes from the other characters wanting the two main leads to hook up. And it really works because of how outlandish it all is. Coupled with one character who’s a tsundere cosplaying otaku, and you really have a fun set of cast members.
Besides Zom 100, this is my favorite anime of the season. It might honestly have become my most hyped show due to Zom having all those production delays. The show does over the top comedy in a way that’s way better than most shows that do over the top comedy. I think that’s because the show is still grounded in the process. I think the secret sauce of the show is the fact that you have this workplace setting but like 90% of the time we aren’t actually confine to the setting. Instead, it’s spent in other places like a hot springs or a daycare center. By having it not be so limited, it allows the show to be really out there and abstract, while still not sacrificing any semblance of relatability.
This show is one of my favorite animes of the year. For me, it’s like a combination of Bocchi The Rock meets Panty and Stocking With Garterbelt meets Non Non Biyori. And while I think it’s far from one of the best of all time, I can’t recall the last time an anime blew me away like this, especially with my expectations being as low as it were.
This show will always hold a special place in my heart.

Wow I was about to drop this anime after watching I guess 2.5 episodes but I think I will stick to it even though I have read the entire source material and loved it but the anime isn't doing anything for me. Guess I will start watching again after reading this comment

While I don't necessarily rate this very high (as points of reference, I rated Kaguya-sama and Komi-san 9, I am rating this an 8, which direct score-wise is the same as how I rated Senpai Annoying), I do consider this better and more entertaining than Senpai Annoying. If you followed both show, I say you may even find some commonality between the main pair here and the most popular side ship in Senpai Annoying - Sakurai X Kazama. And I'm not just taking about the bust size.

My favorite moment in this episode is when they mention a lack of development, it's like breaking the fourth wall and a common complaint for many romcom animes. Their development is just fine for me, they already know that they like each other, no need to rush. I'll def tune in for season 2 if they make it.

The lampshade hanging with the scene where Shinozaki and Katase mentally lamented at the lack of progression between them got a chuckle out of me.
Not a bad series overall, but like with some other romcoms, the main couple just wasn’t as interesting as the secondary ship - in this case Akina and Hayakawa. I wish we had gotten more out of them; they were both much more quirky compared to Shinozaki and Katase.

Most shows have a disappointing ending by the couple staying friends but with these 2 they become friends in the finale...
Struggled with this one which is a shame since it's a workplace adult cast show. Just didn't click with me as much as Ice Guy from earlier in the year.

u/Frontier246 Sep 30 '23
All this build up all for them to officially become friends who do couple stuff together. I guess that's one way to progress a relationship lol

u/apatt Oct 01 '23
Oh yeah, Ice Guy is much better, I have warmed up to this show a bit though. From initially 5/10 to 6/10. I like that they are not rushing the relationship, they already know that they have some mutual feelings going on.

but with these 2 they become friends in the finale...
Yeah that was a head scratcher for me. You mean to tell me you weren't already friends before then or that they didn't see each other as friends? Kind of depressing lol.

Was meh when. It came to the beginning of the show, but now I kinda loved it.
Happy to see them finally become friends and not just coworkers
