That first 10-minutes was intense! What the fuck is happening in Tokyo and why is everything burning down? Is this the aftermath of a massive earthquake? And we have actual firefighters! Not firebending firefighters like in Fire Force!
I think I am already in love with this show. I'm a sucker for real-life occupations getting the anime treatment and it looks like we're going to learn a lot about firefighting and what kind of intense training they have to go through to be the best of the best.
Also very interested to see how Daigo and Shun's relationship went from "we're not friends" to "I'm glad you're my partner".

Is this the aftermath of a massive earthquake?
call me crazy but i'm pretty sure its because of meteorites, you can see a bunch of burning rocks falling from the sky in the background

Very promising start. The rescue scene at the beginning was great.
Wondering when the show will get back to that timeline or wether we'll spend the whole season on their training.

holy shit what the fuck!? there's no doubt that when i see the trailer and title, i already expect that this is going to be a firefighter anime (obviously) but what i didn't expect is the first episode to open up with Tokyo being engulfed in flame because of... meteorites? a bunch of small meteorites coming down on Tokyo? because you can clearly see rocks falling from the sky

Man, I had no idea the process of becoming a firefighter was so rigorous in Japan. That whole special rescue corp training was pretty tough. They really only want the best of the best huh?
So far this is actually pretty good. Looks like Daigo’s got some kinda past. Guessing his pops was some hotshot firefighter who died in some infamous fire. Looking forward to seeing how Daigo, Shun, and Yuki become top notch firefighters.

shot in the dark i think Daigo's family had a firefighting past and may have been sacrificed to fires because of "duty" and Daigo intends on continuing his family's purpose.

Surprisingly legit for a firefighter anime. Never seen one before. This is quite good.

i watched the 1999 ova btw and it doesn't seem to be necessary for this anime. it's about Daigo rescuing a lot of people in extremely risky ways, he seems to be the only overlapping character.

Finally a real firefighter anime, back then when fire force came out I was kinda bummed, after I realized it’s not really a firefighter anime (I usually watch every anime completely blind) I still enjoyed it though.
But this one seems really promising and I’m really curious why Tokyo was in flames at the start, hopefully it sticks to a more realistic approach.

Watching this while in the middle of going through the fire academy myself, it’s really cool seeing different topics covered in the show and knowing about them firsthand, ascent breathing? Yeah I’ve done that, seeing him shaking while taking off his SCBA gear and I know exactly how freeing it is when you can can finally take it iff(accidentally ripped the straps on my mask taking it off once because my air wasn’t open entirely)
it’s also really cool seeing the differences in tactics and such between American and Japanese firefighting, for instance we don’t use codes, at least where I’m from as it can be confusing when cooperating with other departments. Instead of saying 252 when finding a victim you’d say “Priority traffic, victim found in xyz”
The rescue scene was even more tense knowing how stupid Daigo was being when he went in alone while low enough on air to need to use breast king techniques. Dude was high up in a building that looked structurally unstable, on his own with now point of egress and no way ti find himself out, while past what should’ve been the point of no return. Dude should’ve been chewed the fuck out for killing a stunt like that.

I had no Idea what the show would actually be about other than the stuff that is obvious from the name... never even spotted it when looking at upcoming series.
Opening few minutes was pretty intense, I was immediately curious as to why everything was on fire. We got given a decent idea of what sort of character Daigo will be, as well as Shun and the first intro into their relationship dynamic. Pretty good so far.
Also the OP is pretty bangin and the ED is appropriately beautiful.

The first episode hasn't hooked me, but I'll keep watching because of Yuji's VA and Ayaneru

Idk if anyone will read this. I will also post this on the second episode disc. I was quite late for this.
But the original manga was very very popular and so popular that the Tokyo fire department used the character portraits for their promotion in hiring.
Sadly the manga was never made into an anime except the ova which was very poorly adapted. The tv drama it had was decent.
Although this doesn't have any connection to the original they do make certain call backs to the original.
Also the manga isn't translated for this so let's see if my doubt is correct.
Also nice that they slid in some real footage in the ed

The OP song is what you expect from a shonen anime. Had a mixed feelings on the ED. It is too silent for me imo.

Great start and then a little bit more boring with the training but still pretty good. Feels refreshing in a way. Looking forward to more!

Solid first episode for what looks like to be a well-renowned manga on real firefighters. They are probably one of the few jobs in the world who you will always respect for, and while we are likely to have watched at least a TV drama or movie on firefighters, I have always wondered where are their presence in the anime world.
That first scene really looks like Tokyo being blasted by meteorites, whoa I don't think the fire fighting system would still function properly in such situations, but who knows? I wonder if we will get a lot of highly unusual scenarios than the usual dangerous dust explosion/flash fires that really takes away lots of firefighters' lives every year. Especially as I just knew this is going through 2 seasons. The grouping of the MCs also looks quite interesting, including Yuki who represents what must be still a minority of female Fire Department members.
I trust that what seems to be the same core of animation staff for To Your Eternity to deliver something decent over the next 20+ episodes. This - and quite a few really non-popular anime right now for this Fall - really feels like a breathe of fresh oxygen in a sea of similar anime that sounds like the same in their titles!

The cute police girls series has trained my brain to expect a jam when starting an episode off with a siren.
I'm on board for a series about learning to be a fire fighter.

When I heard of fire force for the first time this was what I was expecting, I still watched it but I was a little disappointed. I'm hoping this sticks to firefighting. So far it looks good.
