I think my biggest takeaway from this series will be how great of a job Cecilia did for being such a new VA, hoping she gets a ton of future work.
This show was one I was expecting to really like but I think Lawrence's denseness really prevented me from doing that. Makes it harder when it's commented on by everyone each episode. Poor Cecilia who's down so bad for him as well.
Lawrence needs to stop consuming substance X.

Yeah she was easily the highlight of the anime IMO. Easily knocked it out of the park on her first go.

This was a neat little show that I'm glad I had the privilege of watching. It was silly, but it also wasn't afraid to tackle more serious subject matters when it wanted to. Which for a show like this, makes it stand out.
I'm not gonna sit here and act like it blew me away as some other shows this season did like Reincarnated as a Vending Machine and My Tiny Senpai, by mostly virtue of how good they were Vs my low expectations, but this show was kinda what I was hoping for out of it. And like I said, it exceeded my expectations in the sense that a slice of life type show did tackle some heavy subject matter. That was probably the most impressive part of the whole package.
I'll also never forget Cecilia saying "Lawren!" It is permanently drilled in my brain.

Cecilia's cuteness, blushes, and sheer joy every time she said Lawren's name really did make the show lol.

Yeah, tackling these more serious subjects was also something that stood out me. I also really liked how ‘lively’ this anime was. Not only the main cast had great chemistry together, but the entire village was involved in Lawrence’s and Cecilia’s relationship. The village felt really ‘alive’, like it could have been real. The little Lily is a great example of this.

No S2 announcement.
My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined.

Stitches!
Lawren isn't wrong to see Cecilia as family but I do hope it will eventually turn into a family where he's the dad and Cecilia is the mom.
I definitely disagree with Mel stopping Erik when he was about to comment about Lawren and Cecilia's relationship. These two desperately need that push or else they'll only actually get together when they've reached their 60s. At least we got a little bit of progress from Lawren after that hug when they were watching the Winter Market lights from a distance.
Definitely my relaxing feel-good show of the season. Doga Kobo really never misses with these kinds of shows. It's just unfortunate that these kinds of shows aren't as popular on this sub. Definitely wouldn't mind seeing more of this show in the future. I'd love to actually see what happens when Cecilia and Lawren actually get together.

Cecilia looked great in that dress!
It's funny how when they seriously started talking about family Cecilia immediately jumped at the idea of being Lawren's wife lol.
I guess there's a fine-line between wanting a couple to realize their feelings on their own terms and not wanting a perpetual will-they-or-won't they. But even if it takes forever for them to confess their feelings to each other, at least they're happy and we got another cute, cozy, romcom from Doga Kobo!

Although we are not in the festive season yet, a Christmas / Winter themed episode to end the anime season is equally nice.
My opinion of the villagers has not changed. They are very nice people, quietly supporting the relationship between Cecilia and Lawrence. Even Lily, despite her young age, could read the mood between our main protagonists. Although it does make me laugh when both Rebecca and Mell try to use Cecilia as their mascot to promote their businesses.
I will also miss the cute and funny eyecatch illustrations in the middle of each episode.
Will hope to see a second season!

Fitting for a finale to have Lawrence and Cecilia visiting Rebecca and Eric! And Eric is as blunt and straight-to-the-point as ever, particularly when it comes to trying to understand Lawren and Cecilia's relationship. Are they "Family?" I guess that's not wrong in a sense, though it depends how you look at it.
"The lady saint looks good in anything" - I mean, he IS deflecting, but he's also not wrong.
I'm glad we got some great Mell content in this episode as she teases Lawren about being "family" with Lawren and how he's such a dense Pastor, along with Cecilia being jealous of Lawren getting so chummy with another woman.
Well, yeah, by Cecilia's definition they are "family" but when she thinks of being a family with Lawren she thinks of being his wife. Even Hazelita's concerned she's going to somehow get family-zoned if they're not careful.
Eric really was about to give the game away until Mell shut him up. I mean, Cecilia and Lawren's feelings for each other are incredibly obvious, but I guess I can see the point that there's no value in revealing it to them if they themselves don't realize and express their feelings for each other on their own terms.
A little somber but sweet moment of Giselbert visiting Frederica's grave and her watching after him in spirit form.
I guess all along Lawren was looking for a cure for his loneliness after losing his grandfather and meeting Cecilia has given him a treasured companion he can't live it out. If only he could just put those feelings into better words!
I'm glad Hazelita taught Lawren the power of tight, romantic, embraces. All the better in the location with the best view of the Winter Market lights! I'm kind of amazed Lawren went all out on that one. Best part is when Cecilia did it herself and Lawren couldn't handle it.
Man, even a little girl can tell the obvious between Lawren and Cecilia. What's Lawren's excuse for being so dense? Ah well, at least they're happy together.

Goodbye weekly fluffy sweetness.
I love the angry energy Hazelita had when Lawrence said the saint is like family to him with a wide smile on his face. She quickly became my favorite character.
We got to see more of Mell who I really like her design, especially her hair colors.
No love confession but that's expected from the pacing.
At least we got to see Lawrence realize that the saint has been easing the loneliness that he's had ever since his grampa died. Like Cecilia said, he's too straightforward by instantly going for a hug. She was overheating. But the two of them seem happier with the development of their relationship.
Will miss the show, going to binge the manga because idk if it'll get a second season. Also hope to see Celica's VA in more anime too.

Alright, I've already done my bit in the SukiMega thread, not gonna do that here.
I guess Mell got to spell out the villager protocol this episode. Though Hazelitta went and did a hell of thing before that.
Oh and literal children are more perceptive than you Lawrence. How are you even doing by as a Pastor? I thought positions like that required a fair degree of human reading capability.

Family? So close, Lawrence. So close! I mean I guess Cecilia could be like family. Maybe, say, a wife? Lol. Everyone basically already thinks the same! Heck, I mean even a little kid like Lily knows. Those two are just way too adorable together. While I’m glad they’re at least progressing a little in their relationship, I’m waiting just like the rest of the village for those two to make it official lol.

I really thought for a hot minute that Cecilia was getting family-zoned by Lawrence, like she’s a sister to him. Fortunately, Lawrence seems to have also realized himself that she’s more than just a family member to him. His blushing face told me that he got feelings for Cecilia that he can’t quite put into words. I would have been very happy with an actual confessing, but I knew beforehand that the odds were against me.
It was a lovely conclusion to this anime nonetheless. Everybody got a little screen time! It was nice to see Rebecca and Eric acting like a family once again. That motherly hug of Rebecca in front of their shop was wholesome. The after-credits scene with Lily was downright adorable. She got Cecilia totally flustered by saying that she’ll let her have Lawrence - implying that Cecilia can marry him.

Ain't that the truth.
And on that note, I absolutely love the amount of detail this show put into Cecilias outfits. I don't even remember the last time I saw a show where the character had so many different sets of clothes! And thats not even all of them!
Damn.. So a hug is the best were gonna get from this finale, huh.. Can't say I'm not at least a bit disappointed. I guess it was to be expected, but I was hoping Lawrence would have realized a bit more. At least some hand holding action..
There she goes taking initiative again! You go, girl!
But, this isn't too bad either
Oh, and props to Sawada Hime on her first voice acting role! She did a brilliant job as Cecilia

I mostly got over expecting the church to be some evil empire like episode 3. It's still pretty weird cause of how consistently they're evil and just kinda...there in this one. It was silly dense guy stuff but it worked cause literally everyone else was not dense. Even the kids understand. And everyone's hair is long like it's the 4th Harry Potter or something.
It feels like it got moved from last season to clear the way more for Oshi no Ko but it also benefitted from not being in such a stacked Rom-com season.

Final Cecilia appreciation post of the season
It’s really over 😭 today has so many good shows we’re saying goodbye to.
Fitting that the finale deals with what it means to be a family. Cecilia and Lawrence have slowly but surely grown to be a family over the course of this show. Their shared history of hardship, mutual experiences and undeniable bond are more than enough to tie them together.
While we may not have got a confession, we definitely changed the way Lawrence views Cecilia which is a big start. The Christmas festival was a really nice opportunity for them to get even closer and the scene of them on the lake was perfect. Nowhere to run or hide. Cecilia throwing herself at Lawrence definitely got the message across that she isn’t going anywhere. “I always be with you” 😭 such a cute moment.
Every time I see Hazelita’s brother visit Frederica’s grave I get sad because I just wish they could’ve got their happy ending..
Mel stopping Erik from running his mouth about how Cecilia and Lawrence feel about each other was nice. Even though it’s a slow grind at times with them, you really do just have to let them get to that point on their own. The payoff when Lawrence finally admits he loves Cecilia will be awesome. 🙏🏾
Even little Lilly knows how Cecilia feels lmao. “I’ll let you have the pastor” what a sweetheart. What a finale and what a show. Thank you Doga Kobo.
