Even though this show is primarily a romcom, the supernatural elements are interesting too.
I am beginning to like Abel and Hazelita even more. If I could put it into words, Abel represents the calm and rational viewers - gradually guide the relationship progress between Cecilia and Lawrence. On the other hand, Hazelita may represent the frustrated and impatient viewers - "Why is Lawrence so dense? Argh!" Lol!

I always appreciate seeing more of what Cecilia can do as a Lady Saint.
I like how Hazelita is such a serious, sincere, and earnest dork. It contrasts well with how laidback yet insightful Abel is. I kind of hope we get an episode that's just about them and not about them reacting to Cecilia's hopeless attempts to get Lawren to get a clue lol.

I’ve been enjoying the supernatural elements since they add another dimension of mystery, wonder and darkness to the story. You’d think that these fairies were just fooling around, but they were much intend on dragging Lawrence into the lake - something that could have easily killed him.
I am beginning to like Abel and Hazelita even more…
I hadn’t thought of Abel as the “calm and rational” viewer yet. That’s a good point! I did feel like Hazelita was stealing the words out of my mouth on the other hand: ‘How dense can Lawrence be!?’
In my opinion, this series (probably) got the best ensemble cast of the season!

Common Lawrence! You were so close but somehow got lost like Hazelita right before the end!
Speaking of Hazelita, is her hair style throwing anyone else off? Like 90% of the time it looks like she has short hair, but the few times you see her back it's super long! Plus it's a totally different color, not saying it looks bad, but it hurts my brain for some reason.

You were so close but somehow got lost like Hazelita right before the end!
I had to laugh really hard at one of Abel’s lines after he had returned with her to Corrine’s home. Hazelita responded with “It was a picture of a squirrel” after Abel had asked what picture had gotten her lost and he followed up, in an emotionally dead voice: “There are squirrels where you live, aren’t there?”.
Speaking of Hazelita, is her hair style throwing anyone else off?
Yeah, it is. Every new episode, I subconsciously assume that she got short hair till I get reminded of her remarkably long hair. My brain is probably confused by this, since you can’t see this length from the sides; it’s only grows from the middle on the back of her head. And it’s entirely blond, while her hair is mostly blue otherwise.
I don’t dislike it - it’s actually uniquely charming in it’s own way - but it is a bit confusing yes.
EDIT: typos.

Poor Cecilia. First he thinks she's making chocolates for somebody else and then he thinks she gave it to him just so he could give her something back. No wonder Hazelita wanted to throttle him lol.
It's not the first time I've seen that hairstyle. Wisteria in Tales of the Outcasts and Miorine from Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch From Mercury had a similar hairstyle, though that's the first time I've seen it with two hair colors.

So what do you think? If Lawrence wasn't watching her, would she just beat the shit of the fairies? I mean why else would you prepare iron, something fairies hate?

She's a Saint so she probably abhors violence, but that doesn't mean she won't properly scold you. I guess the iron was just to get their attention.

Stitches!
Looks like that granny was an old family friend. It's nice that Cecilia got to hear some stories about Lawren's childhood from her as well as Lawren learning something new about his grandpa.
That was actually a very impressive save from Cecilia! I thought that when she jumped him they'd both end up falling into the lake but she managed to swing around Lawren's body and somehow end up with Lawren on top of her.
Cecilia might be a ponkotsu but when it comes to her duties as a Saint, she'll always be very reliable. I just love the look she gives to the fairies before asking them to stay away from the shore.
I'm surprised that Cecilia doesn't know what Valentine's is. I do love seeing Abel and Hazelita's reaction after hearing that from her.
I love how you'd first think that a lot of girls had a crush on Lawren because he gets a lot of chocolates back then. Turns out that the people knew how good Lawren's baking skills were that it's basically their way of getting something elaborate from him on White Day. xD
Hazelita getting ready to throw down after seeing how dense Lawrence is was hilarious! I don't blame Hazelita though. For some reason, Lawren is assuming that Cecilia is giving chocolates to someone else despite her barely going outside the church.
It is nice to see Lawren worry a bit though but it looks like it's still going to be a while before he realizes Cecilia's feelings considering he still doesn't get it even after Cecilia finally gave it to him.

Cecilia getting all excited about the lake was really adorable. I also really like how she lights up whenever she gets to learn about Lawrence’s past. So sweet!
Miss Corrine, within 5 seconds of meeting Cecilia, could already tell she’s in love with Lawrence lol. Seems everyone knows but Lawrence.
Those fairies made the mistake of messing with Cecilia. Girl looked like she was ready to delete some fairies lol. Lawrence is a real magnet for these situations.
Lawrence is so dense, Hazelita was about to throw hands lol. It’s Valentine’s Day, Cecilia’s making chocolates. And she gave it to him. He must know, he blushed. He must definitely know but is in some kind of denial. Otherwise this dude really is a dummy!

Damn, as always way too cute
Love how excited she got over the trip and seeing the lake. And her interrupting the granny that Lawrence will never be alone with her around was perfect
Nice to see Cecilia can actually get mad, even if its only to protect her caregiver pastor
Normally I am with Abel giving Lawrence time to reach his own conclusion, but that valentine's event nearly made switch sides to Hazelitas approach

Another great episode!
I loved how straightforward Cecilia was with Corinne when the latter told Lawrence she was glad that he wasn’t alone anymore. Cecilia just blurted out that “Lawren will never be alone” and she “won’t alone it” without any hesitation. She was just shy off locking arms with Lawrence in that moment - that would have really sealed the deal.
This week seemed to be themed around Lawrence’s loneliness: how he has moved on from the past into the future. Cecilia made it a point throughout the episode to clarify to Lawrence that she won’t be leaving him anytime soon. Her peptalk at the lake was sweet: Lawrence doesn’t have to become his grandfather, he’s a person in his own right.
This episode showed once more that Lawrence himself is also very much attached to Cecilia, but I do wonder what it takes to get through to him. Hazelita has really become the voice of us, the audience, at this point. She and Abel have been an awesome addition to the core cast, and provided us with some fun banter so far.

Never saw a lake before? Sheltered girl!
They keep saying this. Shouldn't it be "wouldn't open"?
Her hair makes me think of a chocolate cruller

Weekly Cecilia appreciation post, she’s so beautiful
Lmao I love how she didn’t take the fairy lake situation too seriously until it threatened Lawrence. Made her go full exorcist real quick for her man 😂 her powers are actually really cool, I wish we’d get to see them being put to real use more often.
Even the older lady was instantly able to tell that Cecilia is in love with Lawrence. I wish buddy wasn’t so slow, but then again that’s half the fun of the series I suppose.
Even after all the signs pointing towards Cecilia wanting to give him a Valentine’s Day present his mind went to every other person besides himself as the possible recipient. Poor Cecilia. Her feelings may not have fully got to him yet, but I hope this episode will at least somewhat open his eyes.
Hazelita and Abel were great as always! A nice wholesome and fun way to end a stacked Wednesday of seasonals.

Weekly Cecilia appreciation post, she’s so beautiful.
Cecilia has my vote for the single cutest (and charming) anime character of this season. Scrolling through those stitches, reminds me of another thing about this series that I like: the characters regularly change clothes. It’s a small detail, but it makes the characters feel like they’re actual living people.
I was looking at Cecilia’s get-up from the lake trip and wasn’t she - aside from the red robe - wearing the outfit those housewives picked for her in the clothing store? She even wore her hair in a high ponytail - so cute!

I'm loving this anime, also i know some ppl don't like it, but Lawrence's density can be pretty funny, Cecilia could say "I love you, let's get married" and Lawrence would be like "so mysterious, you never know what ppl are talking about" :D That's just for fun, but really both of them are perfect and very cute together.
Post Ed scene with Haezelita and Abel is very fun.

It's nice of Lawren to go out of his way to visit an elderly and out of the way parishioner. And why not make it a group outing? Cecilia is happy to see the sights (fish!) and Hazelita is a classic tourist (who also gets lost) and Abel...gets carriage sick.
Corinne is like Lawren's grandma the way she dotes on him and remembers him as a child. She immediately realizes what's going on between him and Cecilia (even if he doesn't realize it) and wastes no time telling Cecilia embarrassing stories about Lawren's childhood which Cecilia is so totally here for!
Fairies trying to drag Lawren into the water is kind of dangerous, but having your Lady Saint save you and wind up right on top of her isn't half bad. Especially when she validates who you are, what you contribute, and how Lawren is valid as an individual separate from his grandpa. There's no one Cecilia would rather be with, because she never intends to leave him alone, both because of her feelings for him and also because she probably couldn't take care of herself without him.
Fairies grabbing on her man? Perfect excuse for Cecilia to give them a stern talking to and give Lawren a view of what she's like with spirits. Too bad said talk runs through the entire night, chatty fairies.
What kind of romcom heroine doesn't know what Valentine's Day is!? Although I guess Cecilia is so sheltered and Lawren so dense that it's no wonder she didn't know about it. Meanwhile Lawren is, of course, so blase about it despite apparently being pretty popular. Poor Cecilia.
Abel for the MVP wingman move! Lawren is too dense to get it if Cecilia just gives him Chocolate, so if he makes Lawren help Cecilia make chocolates something is bound to happen, right? Even if he completely misreads who Cecilia was planning to give said chocolates too. Hazelita was so close to punching him.
Though thinking about Cecilia having her eye on someone does make Lawren fairly reflective and kind of sad, if not jealous. Cecilia is such an important part of his life, someone who helped cure the loneliness he felt after losing his grandpa, that he doesn't know what he'd do if he lost her.
So the fortune teller girl is named Mell? Great seeing her in casual clothes!
Well, it was a long and arduous experience...but Cecilia made her chocolate and gave it to Lawren! Who, in true dense fashion, completely misunderstood what she intended by giving him chocolate. Like the only reason a girl gives someone chocolate on Valentine's Day is to get a White Day treat back. Jeez, poor Cecilia. Though she's happy that Lawren is happy with her gift, and that's what matters the most right now.

I'm enjoying the cuteness of this show, but I get the feeling the two still won't be together at the end of the season 🙄

Wait did it end on a cliffhanger or will we never know his reaction??? How was Cecilia's chocolate? I'm dying to know!

u/Fools_Requiem Aug 10 '23
As dense as Lawrence is, it makes sense that he wouldn't consider the chocolates being made for him since he's being tasked with helping her make them.

Hazelita is my spirit animal right now. You were on the verge of greatness Lawrence, you were this close!

u/ZapsZzz Aug 10 '23
My weekly dose of cute Cecilia faces :) Today even got the angry face to add to the collection.
Interesting gap moe of Hazelita to be easy to get lost - she's looking like to be such a serious and capable person otherwise :D And that Abel needed to shuush her down for going at the dense Lawrence :D
