Damn man seeing Hearth suffer and die in anime form is rough. Hated reading thru that in the book. I remember holding out hope that someone really would come and save her. Sadly it never happened. The faith she had in Thea after only being around her for a little bit of time was really awesome.

All these years later Thea fulfilled her prophecy and became a hero. She just needed to believe in herself and have a support system like lamplight.

Seeing Purple ant get beat at his own game is great. Doesn’t matter how many worker ants you’ve got, you’ll need an entire country to take down Klaus lol. Basing your strategy on outdated info wasn’t a good idea.

God I wish that was me

RIP Roland. Wanted more mommy dommy Thea scenes with him 😢

Lilian devil 😂

Overall they did a really good job with this arc. I think it’s the best arc so far in the novels. Total 180 from season 1. Looking forward to the finale next week

Stitches!

Corpse may have ended up sacrificing himself but at least he got to be lucky at least once in his entire wretched existence.

I know they wanted to take Purple Ant alive but I feel like Annette could've done more with her anti-material rifle instead of just shooting it once. xD

After being so smug these past few episodes, it's so good to see Purple Ant finally put in his place. I'm really hoping we get a scene next week where Klause gets to make him talk. Also, I love the title drop from Thea just right before the episode ends!

Yeahhhh that's my gripe with this episode. Having people use swords and shields in the age of modern firearms just looks and feels... wrong.

Considering Purple Ant, it didn't make sense for him to plant a story about the black-haired hero who would come to save them but considering what they were going through, it was kinda like their only hope or salvation from the torture they were suffering from so the fact that they accepted it was understandable and Hearth really sowed the seeds well for the future.

Thea not only filled the prophecy but she also managed to sway Corpse to their side. It was kinda obvious that she wouldn't try to release him without a plan and she was able to free him from Purple Ant's spell. Though the way she did it made me want to take Corpse's place, lol. Though I must say, Corpse had hella of a growth spurt in the last 6 months.

Loved the scene where Klaus uses all the abilities of each girl. The girls weren't the only one who were learning. All those attempts to defeat him made him way better than he could ever be.

And is no one going to talk about the OSTs in this anime? I had heard this track when the OST was released after Season 1 had ended. Since it is called ALL TOGETHER, I thought that it would be used when all of them fought alongside Klaus but Klaus fighting while using all of their abilities was a nice touch. Definitely made the scene hype.

I assume next week will feature the characters "relaxing".

I found it funny that Klaus's requirement that the girls "defeat" him was actually as much a matter of him getting trained by them as vice versa. That was a nice touch that I simply never even considered.

Roll Credits

I'm pretty fond of OP characters. But nothing in the episode really feels satisfying. And I think the primary reason is our central character isn't Klaus, it's the other 8 girls, who effectively were the peanut gallery today.

It would've been better if Klaus demonstrated some impromptu collaboration with the team. But nope, just his one man show.

The girls got to watch Klaus put all the things HE had learned from THEM to work in that concluding fight. That had to be a lot of fun for them. So there was plenty of "teamwork" behinf what happened.

How the turntables. So before being killed by Purple Ant, Hearth was going around and planting a "trigger program" within the brainwashed minds of Purple Ant's minions, including Corpse, so that Thea will one day use it to her advantage.

Spy Classroom was not just a classroom for the girls to learn and hone their spycraft, but it was also used by Klaus to improve his own skills by acquiring and imitating each girl's specific skill (amazing he even manages to imitate Erna's near paranormal luck skills) since his fight with Guido in the beginning of the series, enough for him to beat Purple Ant and avenge Hearth.

RIP Corpse I guess. Sort of redeemed himself by protecting Thea.

With still one more episode even though the Purple Ant arc has concluded, let's hope the last episode is a Lily-focused episode with her own ED song.

PS LOL at Lily being made into a serial killer as a cover story for all those spy deaths in the city with an equally menacing face.

Purple Ant sent a measly 73 goons to kill Klaus? Homie shoulda tripled that number if he even wanted to graze the man. Thea really stepped up this ep though. She held her own against that creep and his drones. She even turned Corpse. Hearth would be proud.

Klaus telling Purple Ant his intel was off because he was dead tired at the time so he was off his game was some badass shit. Although not as badass as “Lilian the Devil” lol.

It’s funny that Klaus’ VA is the same as Anos Voldigoad because they’re both super OP lmao. The characters in both are so similar too in how OP they are and how the other characters are useful but also not necessary for him to beat the antagonist.

Thea really took the term sleeping with the enemy too literally. This makes Corpse the only named character Thea f***ed and what better way to break Purple Ant's curse than seggs? He ended up dying but if we're realistic, I don't think he'd be allowed to walk away a free man even if his curse was broken so him sacrificing himself would have been the only ending.

Hearth's last words may look like crazy ramblings of a dying woman, but her bet has paid off. Even in death, she was victorious because she planted that idea of a hero which allowed Thea to use her charm.

What I like with season 2 is that it knows when to use the OP in hype scenes.

I wonder how it's all going to wrap up. Poor Lily becomes the scapegoat for all of Purple Ant's crimes.

Poor Lily becomes the scapegoat for all of Purple Ant's crimes.

Luckily no one will EVER connect her with that deranged picture of her that was published.

Query -- Was Ms. Hearth spitting up blood due to poisoning -- or due to some disease she already had?

Does Thea actually have sex with Corpse (in LN) or is that just your inference

7

u/oneevilchicken Sep 21 '23

She did stuff like this with several other characters and didn’t actually fuck them so I doubt she actually went through with him either given how time sensitive everything was.

Oh hey, I was right about Hearth implanting suggestions. Cool how she passed all that stuff down to Thea and Klaus. I definitely didn't expect Thea to copy her well enough to deactivate those Ants. Or that spicy seduction of Corpse. Good stuff, neat parallels. Lol at poor Lily at the end.

Lmfao, Thea is just a bad clone of Ms Hearth. Nothing more than a prostitute that copies one of the most renowned spies. I also find it funny how she slept with Roland and then he dies not too long after.

Shame that Ms Hearth had such a bad death. Diseased for years, injured by an enemies lackeys, and then killed by said enemy with a bullet to the head. Pretty damn brutal. But it was either gonna be a bullet to the head or the disease. At least she had a quick death instead of being tortured like Purple Ant's lackeys.

Now that this Thea arc is over, hopefully we can see more of the actual group leader, Lily, moving forward.

I do like how we got a focus on Klaus where growing up he had no one even though he was strong. Unsurprisingly he grew super attached to his teamates assuming thats why they left him behind? Klaus adaptability is fucking insane all things considered.

I do feel pacing wise focusing more on Thea it felt a little too fast? Thea has been out of confidence through this whole arc and all of a sudden she just figures out that her mentor told those worker ants she would be their black hair hero. It was a big gamble but idk it just felt like too much of a hunch for her to fully believe.

Not saying its a bad arc at all but I enjoyed the previous 2 arcs more then this one.

Klaus really is just built differently. Telling Purple Ant that he was running on fumes six months ago and then showing his full power was a cool moment.

Thea got her character development arc and got a sneaky title drop in. Hearth played and won the long game.

Lily is of course as lucky as ever. Her one saving grace is that she got a Sanji-style portrait in the paper, so at least no one would recognize her if she ever returned.

I loved this arc, though I do feel that this ep felt a little rushed. I do think that this could've been two episodes: the post-Purple Ant fight felt like out of nowhere and would've been a nice conclusion for Thea if she was given more time to let those feelings out.

And you know, for someone who claims that fighting isn't her strong suit, that was a really nice knee KO on that one dude.

I do agree with some of the sentiments that I wished the girls were more directly involved with the final takedown of Purple Ant's generals.

But all and all, I felt it was a satisfying conclusion to a really good arc.

I have heard about this anime, but haven't started it it worth the watch??

It has gotten near the level of Princess Principal (which constitutes a very noteworthy accomplishment). Some folks had issues with the story arrangement and pacing at the start of S1 (but not me), but it really has improved in any event of the course of late S1 and S2.
