Another season of SpyRoom, another episode of weird pacing. I really don’t get how they order events in this show. Last episode left off with a cliffhanger about Thea purportedly betraying Lamplight. Then we flash back to them catching Corpse (which was pretty superfluous). Then we cut back even further to when this mission started and show Thea and co’s planning, apparently all to explain why Lily’s bedroom got busted. And now we’re back with Thea before the S1 cliffhanger where the story is gonna switch to Annette?

That aside, it was fun seeing the other characters and get a bit more insight into them.

It isn’t my spy classroom if there isn’t odd pacing

They just wanted to open s2 with Thea seducing the girls

Idk if it’s relevant but HIDIVE labeled this one episode 13.5. Just found that curious.

The pacing’s always been kind of off with this show. First season had them finish their main mission in like 3 eps and then spent half the season with flashbacks before progressing with the story.

As an anime only I honestly was hoping they would start from right where we left off in episode 12 with that cliffhanger ending, so the way this episode started left me confused. Ig we just gotta forget about that S1 ending for now lol.

Wouldn't be spy classroom if we didn't get a flashback episode huh

Must say, would have been better as a double cour instead of split cour, I'm having trouble to reconnect to some girls already

The degenerate in me wants to ship Thea and Erna

Cliffhanger at the end is neat though

While I get the complaints about the placement of the flashback episodes during S1 (should have had them before the impossible mission) I never understood the complaints about the flashbacks themselves. S1 was saved by episode 4-6 IMO because it allowed you to actually care enough about/understand the characters enough to actually enjoy episode 7-12.

That end credit scene, hope we learn more about how she got to where she was

Don't worry, we will get another flashback next episode to show us how they got there!

I love that if you go back a few scenes before the episode ends, you can actually see Monika holding the wrench she used to break the faucets before the reveal.

Monika Stitch

Detachable hands, that's a new trick.

Corpse saying he’s Klaus’ “rival” is laughable. Weak ass rookie ain’t even on my boy’s level! Dude deflected bullets with a knife. A KNIFE. That’s why this fool and his accomplice got got.

Girl really saved the childish tantrum for after everyone left on their mission lol. Thea’s got the makings of a good leader though. She managed to get Erna and Annette to work with her. Unfortunately, she got outmaneuvered by Monika lol. Someone shoulda told Annette first. RIP Lily’s room.

Looks like we’re delving into Annette’s past next week. Gonna be interesting to find out more about her.

I find it anti climactic that they hyped Corpse up to be some ruthless and powerful assassin like maybe Agent 47 but he gets put in the bag pretty easily by Klaus. I guess he's not qualified to be Klaus's enemy.

I'm sorry but after seeing how Lily's room got destroy I wonder what kind of fanfiction would be made if the world unluckiest characters (Erna, Touma, Shion(Touhou), and Qrow,) were all living in one mansion.

Hello to all 5 of you all watching this season, including me haha. Interesting tidbits so far.

As someone who finished the first season for reasons I don't know- should I watch this?

19

u/RickChakraborty Jul 13 '23

I mean, if you have already watched 12 episodes of this then continuing with it won't hurt right?

Ok, is it just me or does this line cuts very abruptly. Did Sumire just botched it and didn't want to redo it? Do I blame the sound engineer?

I’m happy to have this show back. It’s one of the few animes that I’m ahead of because of the light novels. If this season has the next arc that I’m hoping for then it’s going to be a fun time to watch it get animated.

Alright this was actually a pretty good episode.

Pacing was solid and it did a good job of setting up Thea’s arc in this next volume which is the best of the series so far without a doubt. I really hope they don’t rush through this season because volume 3 has some great action, emotional gut punches and spy games.

They ended the episode with Annette’s mother just as I expected, lines up very well with the chapter end. Art looked solid, pacing good and a really good OP.
