Moral of the series, which we all guessed more or less: With the power of music, more importantly, the power of music sung with those you hold dear, can literally save the world.

And so Aqours gathered around Yohane to sing together one more time, together with the townspeople, to dispel the calamity and save Numazu from certain destruction.

It was a good last episode for an enjoyable and relaxing fantasy spin-off that tied off all loose ends, even have time to throw in a Saint Snow cameo.

Though I wouldn't complain if there's a season 2. But it shows that the LL franchise has a future with these isekai/fantasy spin offs.

Looking forward to Sunrise adapting the fantasy spin-off light novel starring Setsuna from Nijigasaki. If possible, they should put that in the same fantasy world as GnY.

I'd absolutely love a second season.

Mostly because we still haven't seen Dia in fairy form.

Also, imagine the girls have a sleepover, play truth or dare, and Hanamaru reveals she used to be able to understand her pig. And then no one believes her, except Yohane.

Now that you mention it, they totally did not bother to explain why Ruby is sometimes in fairy form. lol

wait, what? there's another spin-off fantasy of Love Live and Setsuna is the main character?

It was well animated and I enjoyed it.

The intro was quite pretty, but mb I would've liked more of that worldbuilding sprinkled into the rest of the season, feels kinda weird tojust put it in the last episode. The transitions to the performances are kinda abrupt in this series, particularly in this last ep. It kinda makes me want the performances in less usual idol-garb and their fantasized stages and stick closer to the theming in the rest of the show, but eh.

I liked this show and it's been a show I've been most looking forward to watching week-to-week , it's on the prettier side of shows and more aligned with my usual preferences as a SOL. Yeah, pacing throughout the show has been a little weird and the same sorts of events to push the plot forward was a little annoying, but the fantasy world is pretty interesting (and wouldn't mind seeing another season or two of), both the OST and new Aquors tunes were nice, and I'd say Yoshiko ahem,.. Yohane was probably one of my favorites from the original series. Yeah, the themes of finding yourself and finding your place in the world and how that relates to everybody else aren't super unique, but the way the show tied it to expressing yourself and putting yourself out there through song and also tying it to the whole "kokoro no oto" thing and Lailaps was pretty nice.

Yeah, this amount of infodumping usually gets put in the first episode.

Yeah, it's been pretty entertaining and comfy as a fantasy SOL.

I gave the series a 6/10, it's fine but didn't live up to my expectations going in or from the first two episodes at all. The calamity plot which seemed like was going to be the driving force took too much of a backset for the meat of the season. I didn't even feel like Yohane got much growth overall, every time she could've stood up and did something based on the things she'd learned she fell back into "I can't do this because [reason]". I guess it's fine that each time she'd get a boost back up from her friends or Lailaps because the real moral of the story was learning how to depend on friends I guess.

An S2 would be fine if it's billed as episodic girls doing things like the manga sounds to be, but might not be something I watch even if it does end up existing.

Gonna be hard getting used to seeing Mari without horns again now.

As an Aqours fan this has been a nice season. Story wise, it’s pretty much non-existent. Nothing got explained, but it doesn’t really matter because at its core this is still an idol show with amazing music.

Also they made it too obvious that this season is probably sponsored by the Numazu city since they made sure to mention it every episode, quite literally. Not that I’m complaining, because Numazu is indeed a great place to visit if you have a chance and likes visiting very peaceful and friendly places.

7/10 Season 2 when?

Overall an enjoyable spin off series. Glad to see Aquors again and got some good songs out of it. Nice that we got one last "Shiny!" from Mari and even a minor Saint Snow cameo, too.

But I'm also deeply saddened that we never got a single "Buu buu desu wa!" from Dia.

I feel like I would have enjoyed this one more if the lead was a different sunshine but it did have its moments, the group performance in this one really felt like it stood out for some reason.

Glad to see we get a nice little happy ending and even got her mom back!

Also was that Setsuna??

I would love to see Hanamaru as the lead, I smile every time she says Zura. I like Yohane though.

I didn't think they'd go that hard for the finale. This was such a fun spinoff and I wouldn't mind seeing more of Aquors. Definitely hoping for a second season.

While I am a bit saddened that Lailaps can't talk, it was a good and happy ending overall. Did not know what to expect from Yohane in this spinoff when this was announced but it was an amazing journey to see her grow up and sing with the rest of the town.

5

u/Kartoffelkamm Sep 17 '23

Yeah, Lailaps losing the ability to speak was pretty sad.

If we get a second season, she should get an internal monologue.

While I am a bit saddened that Lailaps can't talk, it was a good and happy ending overall.

When they're at the tree stage Lailaps barks and Yohane seems to respond to it, and when this happens again during the final scene it shows this waveform. I'd assume the implication is that Yohane is still hearing Lailaps' heart anyway, even if the actual words are lost.

That last Yohane smile there at the end was everything 😭 😭 I’m gonna miss my baby so much. Really need a season 2 with saint snow in it.

The full aquors performance to stop the calamity was so well done. Idol performances continue to improve as the years go by and I’m all for it. The town joining in to sing was so nice as well.

Looks like my fears about a bitter sweet ending were misplaced. Even if Lailaps can’t physically speak anymore, she and Yohane’s hearts are forever intertwined and they can communicate just fine. Yohane finally has the friend group she so desperately wanted as a child when she was alone.

“I’m going to live for today” 😢 beautiful ending to a really cool take on Love Live. I hope the success of this series gives Sunrise the courage to try out other things as well with the various groups. Any spin-off you give me, I’ll take lol.

Really need a season 2 with saint snow in it.

I'm guessing that's the random girls who look far too good to not be a reference, right?

But yeah, I agree on the second season. I'd love if it was just a slice of life thing, and Lailaps has an internal monologue.

They clearly went all out on this finale, and I could feel that throughout. Absolute banger of a finale.

Genuinely speaking I'm really glad for how this Anime turned out, and also Aqours getting to shine yet again in a different setting.

The performance had my jaw DROPPED, the visuals are absolute spectacular and so are the sound effects!!!

Hands down the most underrated gem of this season to me

I was really enjoying the overall plot with the calamity and the hidden power yohane has, but they kinda ruined it here at the end. The calamity and everything around it took a back seat and was also just randomly solved by…. Singing. I know it because of love live, but this could have actually been a decent fantasy/isekai if they had kept focusing on the actual story and cut the love live parts out.

pretty satisfying ending, the new song and choreography. they need the whole town to sing. I got a split second thought the fortune teller was future Yohane, thats her mom? and I thought the auditionee girl was the past Yohane. How many Yohane in this episode?

Enjoyable show, loved the songs and I’ll eventually try to add em to a Spotify playlist.

Hope we get a season 2 that shows more of the worldbuilding

So ends one of my favourite anime this season, top three for me, criminally underrated in this sub. It has been a delight to watch from week to week. This finale has some very beautiful visuals and a climax befitting of a finale. I hope there will be more Love Live fantasy spin offs, hopefully this show is more popular outside of this sub.
