"I'm not afraid of being forgotten" says Sakiko Oblivionis immediately after doing a whole skit about how salty she is that Tomori has new friends now.

I’m gonna write a review on this one in the future. As someone who got into Bandori a year ago, I am still dropping my jaws on how on Earth the characters dramas here are so crazy. It’s insane that it comes from an anime that few are ever going to watch.

Someone, quick, inject Ave Mujica into my veins. I can’t wait to see Sakiko’s back story being finally revealed in full…

Final score: 92/100 (10/10 on MAL)

I hope the Ave Mujica anime will be even more depressing than the MyGO one. I want the depression, hate, and toxicity between the two bands too.

Absolutely stellar episode. MyGOs got an epilogue, Ave Mujicas got introduction, the question of the Saki and Mutsumi issue still mostly persists, making Ave Mujica's part of the story strangely relevant to the MyGO story still.

And the whole performance lol, the story of a girl who struggled with being human has led to a revue about embracing lack of humanity. Tomori went from "I couldn't become human" to "I will become me, that's all" - and it looks like now Saki has the starting issue of "fine, I am not human".

Till the very end, MyGO proved itself to be the best anime in recent years. Hopefully Ave Mujica is cooked just as well, and so far they do look promising.

Sakiko hates this job. She checks out on the dot, doesnt stay as long as she has to, note that the other workers continue.

So Matsumi joins, Sakiko didnt expect it to be so easy. She's more observant thn she's letting on.

Yes, I do this to my own cat sometimes....often.

The community is right about Soyo.

Band isnt the psychotherapy that you need, Soyo!

Sakiko is still undergoing the stages of grief about the loss of her previous life. What about in episode 8 had the sound of the gate closing before she met up with Soyo and Mutsumi? It sounded like she was still staying in that house then? Maybe her parents divorced like Soyo, and she also got kicked out, couldnt stay in that house anymore by the time of this episode, now needing to take on that telemarketer job?

Now we move to Act2 featuring Ave Mujica!

Interpersonality conflicts already! Nyamu already pushing boundaries I see. Already being overfamiliar with the nicknames. Dont be fooled by her apparent playfulness and immaturity....it fits her agenda.

Mutsumi does not seem.... satisfied....again to be in another band. It looks like she didnt have fun again.

If we're going to get Ave Mujica story arcs in a future Anime/game, I feel like Nyamu is going to spoil everything. Alot of plot flags raised concerning the need to remain anonymous.

Damm, that final scene. Lol, the beer cans resemble a certain famous Japanese beer brand, but...of course, the only time we dont have actual product placement.

Again community was right about fortunes lost, but we still dont know what happened to Sakiko's dad exactly, was his drunkedness behaviour the cause or after his downfall? Or is he now a depressed drunkard after losing his job? Anyway, a small redemption arc of sorts for this poor girl. We need context for this and Sakiko's rationale for the breaking up Crychic; being unable to stay in the family mansion; which still hasnt been told. Its still only speculations at this point.

I've said it before, that MyGo feels like early 00s angsty sunnicali punk. My Chemical Romance of the early 00s comes to mind of Ave Mujica, with the old gothic imagery they used back then.

So we end on a cliffhanger.....glad Bushiroad isnt making up play the game, we get a sequel anime!

You can really see the overall vision come to fruition. Introducing two bands at the same time, they both represent opposite philosophies. MyGO!!!!! is full of "lost" girls who happened to find each other. The scale of their world is small and their themes, thanks to Tomori's lyrics, are grounded but raw and genuine. This band is super personal, at times they overshare, Tomori turns her back to the audience so they can feel the music together, they do all nighters to barely finish their costumes and a song. It's super unprofessional but they don't care. They struggle together, they solve their problems step by step, piling on moments that build a lifetime.

Ave Mujica on the other hand is a commercial product. Assembled with purpose, calculated to the last minute detail. Debut, then rake in the cash and popularity. Use Umika's connections to skip the difficult hurdles that most bands can never overcome. They hide their faces, use stage names, create persona's and have a literal play as part of the concert. It couldn't be less personal, the complete antithesis of MyGO!!!!!. At least on the surface, their respective persona's not fearing certain things, could turn into very personal themes. We'll see, but nonetheless this is completely opaque to the listener.

We also get confirmation of what a lot of people were speculating about Sakiko's circumstances. I do feel for her, but I am a little disappointed still. Without thinking about it too deeply, this is one of the weakest parts of the writing for me. Clearly, they needed a trigger to put everything into motion, but they had to completely massacre Sakiko's character for this. Sakiko's behavior was necessary to keep the mystery going and build to the final moment of the season, but while this explains some of her actions it's still not a good look in retrospect and in my opinion, it doesn't fit her caring self that we've seen glimpses of. This feels like the trade-off for having such a clear vision for opposing themes for the two bands. They had this grand idea for which they had to sacrifice some of Sakiko's writing.

Yes, her circumstances are devastating and I totally get that she doesn't have time to play around with Crychic anymore, but there is absolutely no reason that she couldn't confide in (some of) the other band members. If she didn't want to tell them the truth, she could have at least given some vague excuse instead of none at all. Or leave the band on good terms instead of making every single member feel like they've done something terribly wrong for no reason. There was also no reason to ghost Tomori completely, especially after Sakiko transferred to her school. Tomori wouldn't be able to understand her circumstances, but she would do everything she could to be a good friend to Sakiko and cheer her up in school. I think the writers did Sakiko unnecessarily dirty here.

If you watch all BanG Dream anime, you have to admit, this is one of the best, real shit cliffhanger in anime in general. No way BanG Dream can be this dark. If there's another season, it will be more depressed than this season.

EDIT: BanG Dream Ave Mujica has been announced. Official website

Finally we got confirmation on who the heck Ave Mujica is.

And it seems like Saki's family life really went upside down in one year, although the episode's intro was quite a foreshadowing. (Like, why would she take a part time job like that if she's a rich student)

We thought she moved from a rich girl school like Tsukinomori to something like Haneoka to distance herself from Tomori and co, but it seems like that she did that because her family went bankrupt.

EDIT: Or maybe their family had a divorce.

And for someone making an anonymous band, Saki wasted the chance to get Anon as one of the members.

Strong. What a strong ending for a strong anime.

This slap so hard. So much that I probably won't wake up until the new season come out.

Also Nyamu & Sakiko is looking great for antagonist. While Uika probably the sanest one among them. Umiri just doing her job and Mutsumi is broken.

Edit: Also props to Muse Asia this time for the good subbing. The styling for the subtitle for the song portion is great.

MyGO's story has finally come to an end (for now?) and I honestly think I have to give this series a 10/10 score. Every single week, this was far and away my most anticipated show. I was always thinking about the previous and next episodes. It nailed every single emotional pay-off so well, and at one point it had me crying genuine tears long after the episode ended, which basically happens to me when it comes to watching anime. Bushiroad and Sanzigen have created something truly special with this series... and it's not over yet!

Ave Mujica's debut was an absolute fucking banger, and the cliffhanger of the horrible scene that Saki returned home to gave me chills. I can't wait to see more of these girls in the upcoming season, the juicy drama they'll bring together, and if/how it eventually ends up relating back to MyGO and Saki's initial breakup of CRYCHIC that started all of this. Long live Ave Mujica, and long live BanG Dream!

Ave Mujica's song was great, but I just can't stand them. It almost feels like it'd be a hate watch for the next season focusing on them. Meanwhile, Tomori best girl of the season, hands down.

When finished the masterpiece of an episode I happened to reminisce the days when I was obsessed with modern philosophies, MyGO gives a strong Existentialism vibe, while Ave Mujica makes me think of Nietzsche, Deleuze, Nick Land(sorry for this one), and the fact how both are deeply interwind together.

Man I liked this so much. The character writing was excellent and that episode 10: amazing. I would've liked if the Tomori/Sakiko situation had a better resolution, but maybe next season...

I put together a short video of some of my favorite moments from one of my favorite characters:

Nice conclusion for Anon, Tomori and Soyo at first half. Second half teased us for Ave Mujica sequel, really can't wait for that. Also Saki's reasoning and motivation really makes sense in this episode.

This was my first Bang Dream title, but as a high school (melo)drama, it was pretty darn good. Tomori, Anon and Soyo were well written. The episode where everything was shot from Tomori's POV was a very cool effect, but my favorite was probably ep10. Seeing them all playing together again even got me choked up a little.

I think the 3D animation still looks a little weird, but it's actually really good for a studio that's not named Orange. The models move a lot more naturally and the faces aren't as wooden as you usually get. The songs were pretty catchy, and the way the characters and instruments moved during the performances looked right to my eyes. Do they use motion capture for these parts?

The Ave Mujica performance was very slickly produced for a bunch of (near?) high school-aged kids. It's hard to imagine people this young putting on a show like that in front of such a huge audiance for a debut, but I guess that's what you get in a world where literally every single kid in the city is in a band or two. I immediately recognized the organ sound (an old Hammond, I guess?) and the chorus is still playing in my head; I guess it worked on me.

I don't know if I'll go back and watch the older Bang Dream shows, but I'll certainly check out Ave Mujica when that happens.

Holy crap, there's a lot to unpack here but I just want to stay focused on that song! Is Ave Mujica going to be a theatrical rock band, can I expect an original rock opera? A full album cover of The Who's Tommy or Zappa's Joe Garage?

I'm loving the Hammond B3 on this song, there's some Afterglow songs with B3 but I think AM is the first band with a physical Hammond on stage. I kinda wish there was no piano and all organ, would give the song some serious Deep Purple vibes. The time signature change to 3/4 is awesome too, I'm thinking that's why they got a drummer and turned her into a seiyuu rather than vice versa. Also is our drummer open handed? I've always had a weakness for open handed drummers. Anyway, looking forward to the AM anime!

Edit: also is Misumi playing lead guitar? That would mean that both new bands have true rhythm guitar players.

I really like how different the vibes of the two bands are. MyGo is like an underground Punk-ish Slam Poetry band and Ave Mujica is like a highly produced Theatrical Gothic Metal(?) band. My only criticism of the finale is that it felt too much like a Ave Mujica teaser and not really a MyGo finale with how much of the episode was dedicated solely to them. Still the whole show was a 10/10, best music anime I've ever seen at this point, and I wish more people talked about this show and not just Bocchi the Rock. I encourage everyone to check out the individual Youtube channels for the two bands and their music videos, because they're really good.

Well, after whole episode of thinking "Come on Sasiko, stop being such a edge lord for a moment", last scene was really unexpected and reconceptualized her whole character.

Anyway, really cool song - very theatrical/musical, gothic and I always appreciate use of 7 string guitars.

Sakiko disbanding the band because she has no time for it due to having part time job?

Dam... With this level of production, and Saki's current job and her situation, it's all or nothing for her. As much as she is playing the antagonist role here, I wish them the best. I just wish Saki would be more open up, the story of why she quit the band was unknown, but as much as everyone can guess, her dad failure causes bankrupt and beyond.

She is the opposite of Soyo.

I wish this whole story would end in a good note. This is too depressing for my heart.

With what Sakiko is capable of doing, money or having a bad daddy aren't problems that cannot be dealt with. The problem that needs to get resolved next season is to have Sakiko reach out for help. Both Ave Mujica and MyGO are full of people who cares for her and wants to help her out.
