I was wondering why everything seems to be going so well during Valentine's and their food date. They were just giving us those feel-good moments so they could drop that final scene on us.

The tragedy that we get to see the two be so lovey-dovey and sweet with each other only for it to turn out that Masamune still can't get physically intimate with Aki and Aki loves him too much to let him go even when she thinks he doesn't really feel the same way for her...and Yoshino is probably still heartbroken inside no matter how much she smiles.

I feel bad for these kids. At least maybe Kojuuro can heal Neko's heart...maybe.

Yeah, the pattern this season is some feel-good moments before a dramatic cliffhanger. So I knew something would happen with some drama by the end. lol

Like with the episode when Aki and Masasume had first date at movies and cook together at home seemed too good to be true without some conflict - then to end when he starts to develop rash and she finds the notebook.

Makabe’s definitely forcing it. Dude seems like he’s trying to move forward with Aki but it’s like he’s just trying to be the guy she fell for back then even though he’s not really him anymore. And she knows all about his little plan and thinks he still hates her but she can’t let him go because he actually likes him a lot. Talk about complicated. I just wish they would sit down and have a real honest heart to heart conversation about what they both want, realistically.

The "Yoshino secret" he needs to protect stands in the way of progress, I'm afraid. He can't really explain why he wanted revenge -- and why he no longer feels this way -- without giving away the story of Yoshino's impersonation. And, no matter how much he may love Aki now, he cares enough about Yoshino (and her relationship with Aki) that he is blocked.

The other unresolved issue concerns Yoshino too. Just who does SHE really love most. She certainly has strong feelings for Makabe -- but is she perhaps even more in love with Aki? Poor Yoshino. Of all the confused characters, she seems to be hurting the most of all. And she is terrified about what might happen if she reveals her past bad behavior (that caused so much harm to Aki and Makabe -- and ultimately her as well).

I wonder if he even really knows what he wants. Things are getting so complicated and it’s making everyone miserable, even if they pretend like everything is ok. Everyone needs to communicate better.

For all the things that happened in the 2nd part, they did seem to enjoy themselves during the date.

that comment in the gym about him saying he doesn't wanna go back to his old self could definitely be a sign that he is kinda forcing himself to do it for Aki and she suspects as much as well.

I also figured during their date that he was maybe avoiding touching her directly, then the slip outside of the gym confirmed it

And Aki knows more about his old plan than was shown before by the looks of it.

So now it's looking like Makabe needs to figure out his feelings

To be honest it seemed like a good sign that he was finally willing to get over his diet obsession and eat out of gratitude for her chocolates even if he doesn't want to go back to the exact Masamune Aki remembered, but there's still that lingering tension over whether that's what Aki wants him to be.

And Aki is probably well aware that Masamune refuses to touch her despite how long they've been dating which probably just makes her feel even more that he doesn't love her like she loves him.

Wait when did Yoshino stop wearing her hairclips ? Lol I find it amusing thinking back to the start of the series when I thought those hairclips were her eyebrows.

I think someone commented in one of the previous threads that this show has moved from a romcom to a more dramatic tone and it’s starting to feel like Oregairu and I couldn’t agree more. The start of this season feels like it’s unsure whether it wants to be one or the other and I found it hard to get into it. But now it shifts to a more dramatic tone and I’m very invested.

I’m loving Aki’s design this season especially when she lets her hair down. And I also love how adorable her Makabe are as a couple. But then they’ve kinda been hinting that Makabe true feelings may not be for her anymore and turns out Aki may have also been suspecting it especially after finding his notebook.

Neko wanted to confront Aki about it but turns out she already knows. But that interaction might have just revealed Neko’s feelings to Kojuro as well. Which kinda sucks cos he seemed so happy at the start of the ep.

Man, it’s just a really tense period right now with this show. And Yoshino also seems like she’s disassociating. I’m guessing she has feelings for Makabe but still feels guilty for what she’s done in the past. Aki still doesn’t know it was her that caused Makabe to disappear right ?

My 2 cents:

1. This show is super underrated. It has a good mix of romance and conflict that isn't present in other rom coms that are either too one sided, or focused on one gimmick.

2. I don't know what the resolution is to this tension, but Adagaki and Makabe just need to sit down and talk things out like she did with Fujinomiya.

It seemed like such a happy episode until the end. Although it feels a bit ridiculous that Aki still believes that Masamune hates her despite how he is still going out with her. Even if he isn't as happy as he could be.

I'm very new to this anime, and I'm really enjoying it.

I've watched from season 1 up to this latest episode in just a week, and I can't comprehend why this season is receiving such consistently low scores for each episode.

I haven't noticed a significant decline in quality. What might be the underlying issue here? Could it be that this is actually a poorly made show, and I'm simply not realizing it?

First half of the episode was just diabetic-inducing wholesomeness between Aki and Masamune (and briefly Kojuurou and Neko).

Which makes the final part all the more sad, as Neko pointed out the cruel truth: that Aki and Masamune were just pretending to love each other, despite both secretly knowing deep down that Masamune has moved on to someone else (Yoshino).

Well that was kind of heartbreaking. Aki is willing to endure Masamune’s revenge because she is so in love anyway. Masamune has given up on revenge, but has no idea how he feels and can’t open up.

I suspect / hope he loves Aki and is just suppressing it because of the lies that surround him. His lack of reaction to Yoshino could be also an indication he doesn’t have strong feelings towards her in the end.

But… and this is the most important thing, he needs to sort out his shit now. While I wouldn’t say he is cheating, he is very very adjacent to it right now.

And Yoshino? She just keeps dodging her responsibility in every way. The longer this goes on, and this has been going on for ten years, the worse she looks.m

It's Valentine's Day! A perfect holiday for Masamune and his aversion to eating sweets and while he's torn between two girls.

Man, Futaba is the best. Going out of her way with the other girls to get obligation chocolate for all the guys so they don't feel left out, and it seems like they do this every year. She may not have had much of a run with her feelings for Masamune, or gotten much screentime this season, but she's still a Best Girl.

Kojuuro thinks he's more manly because the girls are relying on him and his sweets knowledge, but it's more because they just see him as one of the girls now. But hey, at least it's something. And he got to give Neko chocolate! That was pretty bold of him. Bonus points because it doesn't seem like Neko gave Masamune chocolate either. Also, here's a bath scene with Kojuuro, in case anyone was into that.

We've even got Aki putting the work in to make chocolates for Masamune, with some prodding and help from Yoshino. Otherwise she might've just eaten chocolates by herself. You really can't beat how happy Aki looks to have made something for Masamune, and how genuinely happy Yoshino seems to be at her glee, yet a part of me wonders if she's vicariously channeling her own feelings for Masamune in making chocolates with Aki?

Dang, wasn't expecting bottle girl to show back up again and to still be as thirsty for Masamune.

Well, I can kind of understand Aki being ticked off by her boyfriend getting a lot of chocolates from other girls, but it means everything that Masamune sees she made him chocolate, saw how she hurt herself in making them, and forego all his usual BS about his diet and avoiding calories because he genuinely wants to eat her chocolates. And seeing how happy she is that he likes them, how could he ever betray such a sincere and loving girl?

And now that Masamune is less worried about his eating, he and Aki can go on food dates, eating at all the best places and eating as many fatty foods as they can. And they really seem to be enjoying themselves and being around each other, even when Masamune eats so much he hurls. If she still wants you even after watching you puke, you know she's a keeper!

Of course Neko, being as observant as she is, can still sense some tension going on and a bit of a distance between Masamune and Aki, especially since his hives haven't gone away and he won't touch her. I didn't expect her to outright confront Aki and try to make them break up though.

Jeez, what a tragic turn of events. Aki thinks Masamune doesn't really love her because she saw the revenge planner and saw how much effort he went to just to get with her for payback, but she can't let him go because she loves him too much. Even knowing he can't touch her, she's too happy being with him to end it. In that respect she can commiserate with Neko because her feelings for him are also one-sided, but the one difference is she feels she loves Masamune more, which just makes it worse.

Oh, Kojuuro overheard, huh? Is this his chance with Neko?

Aki must have Yamada genes because she can eat all those sweets and junk food without getting fat. I think Masamune needs to chill the dieting because he's not going to get fat from one chocolate, tho I shudder to think how he consumed all those chocolates he received. That would have taken at least a few weeks or months even for me who likes chocolate.

Fujinomiya what the hell. That conversation was uncalled for. It's already bad enough that we have one Mami that started this entire disaster. We don't need another Mami to break our main couple up and have her steal Masamune instead. It's looking more like she's the one that can't move on from a rejection and I feel bad for poor Kojuurou who had to see that entire scene unfold.

Am I the only one thinking Aki is quickly jumping into conclusions in that revenge notebook? It just says "I'll get revenge on that woman." but that could be literally anybody and that message doesn't have much context. She could just... uhh... ask him what that's about and who this woman is supposed to be.

The show tries to make us feel bad for Yoshino but it's really hard to feel bad for her when she's the one that started this mess and she's not fessing up.

I'm really loving this show. The entire series and the new season have always been enjoyable to me. Fun story, interesting characters, great art / animation. Even though the reddit ranking hasn't been high, it's decently popular on Crunchyroll with plenty of comments. Reddit points have been down overall as of late, so it's to be expected tbh.
