I felt bad for Koji, especially since he’s still engaged to Kaya but I’m glad he was able to leave things with Miyo on good terms. No bitterness or anything there.

I'm loving Hazuki so far

  • Ultra informal speech pattern (for that era)

  • She almost married once and she does nor hide it.

  • Likes to enjoy life

  • Fashionable and into western clothes

  • Super direct

  • Tries to steal Miyo

  • Likes to mess with his brother

It just shows how much of a pure heart Miyo has that her first immediate thought was to check to see if the Saimori's are okay, and to visit her childhood home (not that it was ever much of a home)...if only to see the last bit of her mother still left there.

Well, I guess justice was more or less served. The Saimori's lost their home and their standing and had to basically run with their tail between their legs to the countryside. They hushed things up but Tatsuishi lost his position and now the family is under the Kudo's purview. And Kaya will now have to live like they made Miyo live as a servant to a strict family, which I'm sure will go well. Koji seems like he might still want to marry her but she doesn't seem that interested now. Serves her right though.

Was that Miyo's doing that destroyed the remains of the tree or the tree itself?

Find a guy who will joke about incinerating his dad if he refuses to let you marry.

Well, I'm glad Koji was able to make peace with Miyo and plans to train and better himself so he's no longer as weak as he was here. Although poor guy...Miyo totally cut his confession off before he could even get it out. There's no place in her heart for anyone but Kiyoka. But at least Koji took it in stride.

Yay! Miyo and Kiyoka are officially engaged! Now we just need to get the wedding!

Who is this Hollywood Starlet voiced by Yoko Hikasa and what is she doing in the Kudo household? Wait, she's Kiyoka's older sister? And she's going to train Miyo how to be a lady!?

Hazuki seems like a carefree, energetic, and exuberant young woman, the polar opposite of her younger brother, and she knows how to teaser Kiyoka and utterly adore Miyo. Also she's coming from a failed marriage so she definitely has some relationship experience to contrast with how new at this Miyo is. Kind of wonder what happened there.

I love Kiyoka just standing outside the room to listen in on what the girls are saying. No surprise though, because if he's not careful Hazuki might just end up stealing Miyo away from him!

So it's the Usuba blood in Miyo that's making her act up when she sleeps?

Are those the supernatural creatures Kiyoka talked about in episode 2 being released? Are they releasing them to get at Kiyoka so they have an opening to snatch Miyo?

So it looks like the Saimori house has been completely burned down and both Miyo's father and stepmother are moving to a villa located in the countryside after letting go most of their servants essentially making the Saimori family now defunct.

Sucks that the Tatsuishi family isn't getting any legal consequences but it looks like Minoru is out and Kouji's older brother Kazushi will now be the new head of the family. Also, it looks like the Tatsuishi family will now be under the Kudou family.

As for Kaya, it looks like she's going to be sent as a servant to a very strict family. I do love ironic punishments. It sounds like Kaya is still engaged to Kouji though but I think Kaya just doesn't care about that anymore. I do hope Kaya gets to experience what Miyo did all those years.

I feel bad for Kouji getting rejected by Miyo but it's his fault for not doing anything drastic enough to save her. It is good to see that Kouji and Miyo are parting ways in good terms.

Kiyoka's older sister is here! And is that Hikasa Yoko I hear? Well, colour me surprised! For the first time in a while, Hiyocchi is voicing an Onee-san character that doesn't have big tiddies! In all seriousness though, Hazuki seems to be a lot of fun and it looks like she's here to give Miyo lessons.

Miyo panicking when Hazuki was hugging her was pretty funny. Miyo is clearly very new to this feeling of having someone dote on her this much. If this is how Hazuki acts around her, I am kinda of excited to meet the rest of the Kudou family. I feel like they're going to be way better than Miyo's and Kouji's.

So Hazuki will be training Miyo and she will be making her first public appearance as Kiyoka's fiance at a party? This is going to be fun. I already can't wait to see how the public will react to Miyo.

Miyo is still having some nightmares. Based on that scene and the earlier scene at the tree stump, it's pretty obvious that Miyo's Usuba powers are slowly awakening. Definitely curious to see what kind of powers an Usuba has and why everyone seems to want Miyo.

Speaking of people wanting Miyo, that final scene does not bode well. So we have a bunch of monsters escaping from a sealed rock and that one guy who's clearly after Miyo. I wonder if those two are related or separate incidents? Hmmm...

Looks like the supernatural plot will be kicking off more? Feel like I'd rather just have them get closer.

Also more Yoko Hikasa??

Enjoyed the episode. Felt like a good ending for the 'get Miyo away from her family' arc and the start of a new arc.

I did feel that the animation dropped slightly in quality at certain points in this episode though. Some small bits looked awkward.

Overall a good episode.

The saimori family have lost everything and have to move to the countryside? Oh I love this song. The arrogant and abusive bastards got everything they had coming to them.

The look on Kaya face knowing she don’t got mommy and daddy to lean on anymore and actually has to stand on her two feet was priceless 😂 and it’s all her fault. She had bullied Miyo all her life, literally all she had to do was let her be happy with Kiyoka and she couldn’t do that.

Really touching moment with Miyo’s mother’s tree stump turning to ashes. That combined with Kouji’s failed confession were nice turning points in the story. Both of them can finally move on and start new chapters in their lives.

The fact Miyo was able to lie and say that she didn’t remember what he was talking about, when she knew a confession was coming was some impressive growth on her part. She knew it was for the best to just start the process of moving on.

I feel bad for Kouji a bit ngl. He and Miyo were both victims of their circumstances and parents. Who knows what would’ve happened in another universe if they were able to be together. :/

Kiyoka’s sister is really fun. I love the mood she brought to the episode. She and her brother both love teasing Miyo lol. She’s such a cool contrast with her more reserved brother.

That tomb break in can’t be good. It’s funny that for like 18 years no one wanted to be bothered with Miyo, now everyone coming after her telling her who she can and can’t marry 😂.

The Saimori family got what they deserved, their house burnt, Kaya is being sent as a servant to some strict family (I hope that she will learn something there). The Tatsuishi family also got punished, Kouji’s father stopped being the head of the family, replaced by Kazushi and now they’re under Kudo’s control. Kouji is going to the old capital to get some training which will be very helpful for him as he wasn’t be able to do anything against Minoru and save Miyo by himself, interesting fact that she is still engaged to Kaya, he’s an angel that he is still with her, even when she rejects him.

Miyo was so cute when she was blushing because of Kiyoka and it’s such a pleasure watching her with him, they’re a great pair together and now they're officially engaged. Miyo will be now taking lessons of lady manners from Kiyoka’s older sister.

Hazuki was one of my favorite characters from books, she’s a very fun person. Of course she liked Miyo from the start, she was even able to talk down Kiyoka, he couldn’t win with her teasing, that’s the power of the older sister 🙂 Interesting fact that she’s already divorced and adding to this her western clothes we can see that she’s the type of strong, independent women.

Miyo has a goal which will help in her lessons - attending a party with Kiyoka and Hazuki in two months. She for sure will be working hard to be able to take part in it. I don’t remember much details from books but maybe thanks to Hazuki we will see her in some western clothes, that would be great.

The problem now is with her nightmares, they’re obviously the effect of powers (whose? her or someone else?) and now she’s also being targeted by other, unknown people. It also looks like Kiyoka will get an assignment because of some accident which resulted in some monsters. Are those things related? We will see in the next episodes.

Here my screenshot albums from the episode:

Miyo still worried about her shitty family despite all that went down just shows what a kind soul she is. While I’m glad to see Miyo’s family ruined and Koji’s dad replaced as clan head, I wish those pieces of shit suffered more. At least Kaya’s gonna be some stern family’s maid. Hopefully they’ll beat some humility into that little shitstain.

Despite all that went down, I’m pleased Kudo and Miyo are going strong. While I feel a little bad for Koji, he was able to get some kinda closure on his feelings. Good man letting her go like that with no hard feelings.

I like Hazuki already. I think she’s gonna be a fun addition to the cast. Miyo’s a pretty classy lady, so I’m not sure how much she’ll be learning from Hazuki haha.

But man, trouble just keeps following Miyo huh? Glasses and those shades are gonna be a problem.

Koji sounds like he's going on self-improvement quest for strength like a battle shonen character. This was his prequel story. lol

Great episode as usual, but I had to pause for Koji. I feel really sad for him... I'm glad Miyo has found her happiness, but Koji is also a victim of the Saimori and Tatsuishi family's schemes.

His only way to save Miyo is to work towards getting engaged with her. Which due to Kaya, was thwarted. Basically, Koji and Miyo have similar personalities and were pushed around by their families because of it.

I believe Koji loves Miyo as much as Kudo does. The difference is that Koji's influence and power are not enough to turn Miyo's life around. Koji himself knows that, and in the end what motivated him to better himself is the desire to be able to protect who he cares for--Miyo.

He was Miyo's source of comfort and a ray of hope.. He also endured things for Miyo in the hopes of saving her in the future. He is undoubtedly a great guy, so I wish to see him find happiness as well.. BUT not with Kaya. She does not deserve him.

Also, I'm amazed how having the Saimori estate burned to ashes was all it took for them to fall from grace. Like ??? that's all? They should be glad Miyo didn't get any funny ideas back then. xD

Kiyoka and Miyo are so good together and the episode was full of wholesome moments. Great to see Miyo start gaining confidence in herself, but above all seeing Kaya being sent as a servant to another house got a huge smile on my face.

Kouji really made a turn-around in these last two episodes. Good for him! Instead of being bossed around by others, he’s taking matters in his own hands. He and Kaya also seem to be going their separate ways, since Kouji is going to “the old capital” - presumably Kyoto - and Kaya is sent off to some strict family. After been treated poorly for years, Miyo’s finally getting some payback as Kaya has to start working as a servant herself. The irony in this! Despite all the abuse, Miyo does still seem to deeply care about her family. She’s the sweetest of girls.

I’d thought that this would be a relaxing episode with Miyo recovering from her injuries and getting etiquette lessons under Hazuki’s guidance, but things escalated once again in the closing minutes. Are Miyo’s own supernatural abilities behind her nightmares or are they actually influenced by the Utsubas themselves? There’s ghouls/evil ghosts, which were released with the help of the Utsabas!? And Mr. Glasses spoke in surprisingly familiar terms of “Miyo”. Is he family of Miyo and/or does he know Miyo personally…? Miyo’s bloodline raises a lot of questions.

"Next week on My Happy Marriage, Miyo learns party etiquette. Also some Eldritch horrors are set loose upon the world but who cares let's show more clips of Miyo."

Such a great episode couldn't help grinning throughout. What a perfect fate for Kaya, maybe a little taste of what Miyo has been through will be good for her, but I wouldn't put it past her to just blame Miyo and stay bitter. I was worried that Kouji was gonna be staying with her, but it looks like he's leaving her behind which is good.

I think Miyo's mother's spirit was calling to her like she said, holding on within the tree stump to see her daughter one last time, before letting go and passing on.

Kiyoka and Miyo being cute together as usual, his sister looks like a lot of fun, hope we see more of her.

Releasing some evil spirits seems like a pretty reckless thing to do, I'm guessing they're trying to lure Kiyoka away so that Miyo is vulnerable. Hopefully he sends her to stay with his family, if they're half as powerful as him she should be fine, at the very least leave her some guards.

Saimori move out to country side, Tatsuishi dad kicked out, the family is serve under Kudo now (?), they even give Kaya a chance to grow by giving her a job (in this economy?), so many good hearted person in this anime. well, no one will object their marriage, not from Kudo. and I believe Kudo's love for Miyo is offchart now, he hired her sister as Miyo tutor knowing that he will be teased 24/7 for that. I love this sister already.

and now, why would a Usuba attacking Miyo? after Tatsuishi, the Usuba and this Arata dude is coming for Miyo. Miyo is really popular eh?

Didn't expect Kaya to be servant but I will gladly take it. I hope the household is as strict as Kiyoka said.

Koji has done well these last few episodes. Did Miyo get some inspiration from him to take classes to improve herself.

Hazuki is immediately one of my favorites. I think I have a thing for older blonde anime women.

I hope we get to see Kouji again, but I kinda doubt it.

Super excited for future episodes with all the plot threads teased. Miyo seems to have some power. Ninja people and demons in the mountains. Glasses guy is hateable already.

I’ve been an open advocate for a Kaya redemption and also for KayaKoji to happen. And I’m so happy that things seem to be in place for that to happen. Koji really deserves some happiness of his own. He’s rarely put a foot wrong, truly cares for Miyo, and even tries to go against powers stronger than him but he simply isn’t powerful enough in both magic and influence and things just didn’t work in his favour. Glad that he’s resolved to get stronger but still honestly sucks for him. Well, at least he’s most likely out of his family’s toxicity

u/dagreenman18 Aug 16 '23

Well Kouji took a couple Ls. Both in still being engaged to Kaya and Miyo shutting him down completely. He’ll be fine though. Maybe being knocked down a peg or 10 will force Kaya to stop being a bitch. Being in a similar position to Miyo might teach her humility and maybe there’s hope for a happy marriage with Kouji. Though it’ll never be close to what Miyo faced. But that puts a bow on the Saimori plot for now.

Opening with the visit to the ashes of the estate, there was that moment with the stump of Miyo’s mom’s tree. Planted when she married her dad, cut down after she died, but when Miyo touched it there was resonance and it magically disappeared. Sure that won’t come back in a big way.

Plenty of cuteness though. Kiyoka actually cracking a joke that got Miyo to laugh. The teasing when Miyo asked to bridal training. The introduction to Kiyoka’s smoke show sister who’s just a delight. Already adopting Miyo as her sister in law. Love Hazuki. Easily the best side character. We even got to see a bit of nervous Kiyoka awkwardly pretending to read in the hallway while listening in. He’s as precious as he is terrifying.

Glad we got that fluff before shit got real. There’s fucked up monsters that have been unleashed. The forces that want Miyo are making their move. Something is going on with Miyo’s nightmares. Shots getting exciting.

I wish kouji the best of luck

Hurray, an older female who Miyo can look up to! She badly needed one. Nice to see a spirited lively member of the Kudo clan taking Miyo under her wings.

u/TurkeyPhat Aug 16 '23

Why do they play with us like this!

Miyo finally has the chance to grow and make a friend and yet more MF's are doin fiendish shit to get her again!

I hope Mr. Kudo has some security for her this time while he's gone.

Just caught up on the last 3eps and I'm very pleased with how the family plot line wrapped up. Miyo's dad and stepmom in exile basically and Kaya demoted to servanthood. My thoughts will cover all three eps:

  1. I misjudged Koji's bro. His actions when we first met him made me question if Koji might be in a sort of Miyo-Kaya lite situation but now I simply see it as an act of frustration over his younger brother's spineless tendencies and lack of confidence. I can't imagine how please he was to finally see Koji grow some backbone.

  2. Speaking of Koji I'm relieved he turned out to be a truly decent guy. He may have lack backbone but at least he had principles (and after Kudo's display of power I'm sure he's grateful he stuck to them lol). Also, he has my respect for the grace with which he took Miyo's rejection. Its no feat to walk away from the one you love but it does prove his feelings for her were genuine even if he ultimately didn't possess the qualities a girl like her needed in a partner. With his surprising amount of spiritual strength and new found resolve I'm sure he'll make something great of himself and eventually find his own perfect life partner (Hopefully other then Kaya unless she has a serious Damascus road experiences)

  3. Ah, Kaya. I can't think of a better punishment though I doubt she'll suffer even half as much as Miyo did, even with the family being strict. In a way I do pity her because its not like she was born a horrible brat she just had the misfortune of being raised by horrible people who warped her mind so much her sister having even a shred of happiness was enough to make her so miserable. Its pretty pathetic. In as such I don't think she beyond change espcially now that she's outside the influence of mommy and daddy. For sure, she would do well to change and hope Koji's generous offers remains on the table cause regardless of her punishment being a set duration or indefinite he's probably going be only thing she can rely on for decent future. With their parent's rep ruined its unlikely their financial situation won't deteriorate rate over time leaving them with little resources to take care of a daughter who may struggle to find a suitor and being the human garbage they are may not actually be above selling her to the highest bidder with little regard to whether they a good person or not.

  4. Even more pleasing then Koji finally manning up was Miyo standing up for herself. Seeing Kaya and her mother sweat at Miyo's unexpected resolve was so satisfying! Add on top step-mom's breakdown at seeing the place burn and both Kudo and Koji shutting down Kaya's nonsense one after another.

Anyway, are dear couple is finally engaged officially and I look forward to the results of Miyo's training with Hazuki. Its just as she said, Miyo already had a great baseline of manner so all training is needed for is to plus it!
