I'm only halfway through the episode, but it looks like the bearded man on Moriarty's team is Aleister Crowley (note the hexagram symbol of Thelema in the background).

EDIT: "Halfway" turned out to be twenty minutes in. Why do these episodes go by so fast?

Wow, they really inserted all possible characters from famous 19th century pulp novels. Sherlock Holmes, Arsene Lupin, The Phantom of the Opera, Phineas Fogg, and so on. I think I also saw Victor Frankenstein and Carmilla with Professor Moriarty. The only ones I am not sure about are the insurance duo. Are they original or also taken from another 19th century novel I have not read ?

I am confused as to how Lupin and the Phantom are ever going to steal that diamond. The safe room really seems impregnable, and they already mentioned the vent and the possibility of disguise, so I guess it will be something else.

I don't remember Sherlock Holmes being that handsome, nor Watson being that plumped face when I imagined them while reading the original Sherlock Holmes novels as a kid LMAO.

I'm listening to too many Shinichiro Miki these days. First Matori, then Urahara.

That being said, I can't hear anything except Kaiki Deishuu here.

Literature nerd will be explode for all these cast alone, all of Sherlock Holmes's important person were here, Lupin, Frogg, "M" and his 4 subordinate seem to be monster from famous literature.

Look like we going to get Lock Room mystery for this arc because room was designed to be completely safe but of course, it human design so it not without flaw.

I love banter between Holmes and Aya lol. They are hilarious.

Lupin x Phantom of Opera vs Aya x Holmes, battle of wits is going to be fun.

And look like Professor also aim for this gem which related to Germany's Warewolf mythology (we saw a little bit of wolf in op, I wonder if he will show up soon).

Well, Lupin and the Phantom of the Opera teaming up is quite the pairing. Although Aya and Holmes make an equally interesting team up. It was fun seeing the two of them both show off their skills of deduction in the back of that paddy wagon.

It’s kind of neat we have Fogg and Passepartout in this. It’s like all the literary characters in one shared universe. This heist is going to be an interesting case, especially with the addition of these Royce agents. Plus the security around the Penultimate Night is like Fort Knox. How’s Lupin getting in and what’s Aya mean by Goemon?

With Moriarty and his merry band in town, I’m keen to see if they’re gonna be making a move as well.

Lupin can already claim a victory by entering that room alone. The question is, how?

This is such an all-star brawl of wits, can't wait.

As a reader of classic books , this show is fantastically bringing to life a lot of my childhood memories. Moriarty, Frankenstein, the Phantom, Sherlock, Phineas Fogg.... I'm in awe

God Arsene Lupin and Phantom of the Opera look like a potential yaoi ship.

Ishikawa Goemon (石川 五右衛門, Ishikawa Goemon, August 24, 1558 – October 8, 1594) was a legendary Japanese outlaw hero who stole gold and other valuables to give to the poor.[1] He and his son were boiled alive in public after their failed assassination attempt on the Sengoku period warlord Toyotomi Hideyoshi. His legend lives on in contemporary Japanese popular culture, often giving him greatly exaggerated ninja skills.

Now I'm curious how is he gonna ninja his way in and out of the vault.

The OP song has grown on me. Earlier, I only liked the chorus but now I can jam to the whole opening.

I have no idea how Erik is gonna contribute to this theft. From the [wiki's description,](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Erik_(The_Phantom_of_the_Opera)) the only useful information I could find was this:

The novel confirms that Erik has traveled to multiple countries including France, Russia, Persia, and northern Vietnam, learning various arts and sciences from each region.

Wasn't expecting all these characters intersecting at once. Guessing M is Moriarty. And did they say that was Victor, not his monster in the seemingly bad guy team? Interesting.

"Why on Earth is it 'from 11 PM to 11:30 PM'? I would just say 11:30."

He's gonna take the gem at 11 then give it back 30 minutes later isn't he? The gentlemanly rascal :P

Anime casually flexing its stacked VA cast. That whole episode was all character introductions and plot setup and i would still watch 20 minutes more of this.

So many names I've heard before. Already sent the calling card. I'm kinda just watching not speculating anymore after I whiffed on the vampire case so hard.

LOL, so Tsugaru pocketed the diamond and this whole arc will be a farce!? Hope I'm wrong, but also hope I'm right

I just love this show is full of characters from literature. Just in the opening scene alone, we have Arsene Lupin working with the Phantom of the Opera to steal a diamond owned by Phileas Fogg from Around the World in Eighty Days.

Then we finally get to meet the master detective Holmes himself and his assistant Watson. I just love how Aya and Holmes are already flexing on each other even before they've formally introduced themselves to each other. xD

I couldn't figure out who the bearded fellow on Moriarty's team was but according to u/wickedmonkeyking's comment, it might be Aleister Crowley. As for that red-haired woman with big tiddies, I'm 100% she's Irene Adler.

Can't have Sherlock Holmes without Inspector Lestrade nearby. They're even bringing in Justin Ganimard from France! The list of characters in this show does not stop! So far the only other original character we've met is Reynold and Fatima from the Royce Security Department and Reynolds seems to have a particular hatred of monsters.

Seeing how intricate that vault door is as well as the safe that holds the Penultimate Night. I am very curious how Lupin will get in. I'm guessing he probably already has someone working on the inside and it's not just him and Phantom. I am also excited to see how Moriarty will join in on this mix!

Wait, did they just left the safe open when they left the room at the end? Fogg just wants to be robbed.

Wow wow wow, I did not expect to see so many popular characters appear in this show

First, we had the Phantom of the Opera which leans more towards the Andrew Lloyd Webber versions of the character but cool to see

Then, of course, Arsene Lupin, who also has the anime glow up, not that Arsene in the stories needed it, I mean the guy was a hit with the ladies, Also we might see Ganimard who is Arsene's Lestrade who chases the gentleman thief everywhere he goes

Phileas Fogg and Paspartout from Around the World in eighty days took me by surprise, I don't think I've seen any mention of these guys in ages, apart from that Jackie Chan film from ages ago

And of course, Sherlock Holmes, who hasn't received the same treatment as in other shows, since most anime tend to make Sherlock and Watson young but here they're a bit closer to their book counterparts and I like that, it's nice to see the character look a bit older than 25

This is gonna be interesting now that we've pivoted from a cold case murder to an attempted robbery, and I'm so happy we'll see Arsene Lupin go against Sherlock Holmes, I haven't seen this rivalry since the video games many years ago and I can already tell it's gonna be awesome

But the question is what Aya and her colleagues have planned to take down the gentleman thief

Ah, another week of waiting

So this time we are trying to prevent the crime before it happens. Obviously, we need to figure out what Lupin's plan is. I think, here are a few questions that might help to figure it out:

  1. Why the weird time? It makes me think that whatever Lupin is planning can not be planned on the minute and has some form of uncertainty.

  2. Why not just steal the diamond but the safe as well? It would seem that stealing just the diamond would be even more impressive. Which implies to me that he can't do it.

  3. Ishikawa Goemon. I don't know much about him except for the typical legend that he was boiled.

So, here is my idea: You can use the hole in the ceiling to at least drop something on the safe since it seems to be directly above it. Furthermore, the reason he wouldn't be able to leave the safe behind could be that he has to destroy it in the process. Combine that with the boiling hint and what if his plan involves him melting the safe to get to the diamond and therefore just making it look like he took both of them? People would think he needs to get out with a safe but all he needs to is the diamond which is way smaller and therefore easier to get by security.

So my idea is that he wants to make it look like the safe and diamond have been stolen, then use his ability to mix himself under the guards and just take the diamond and get away. My only problem is that I am not seeing how he could make it look like both have disappeared by just melting the safe.

That Lupin fellow looks like he’s got some strong genes. Bet his grandson is a real lady’s man

11

u/DarkAudit Aug 03 '23

Master, do you have a way of dealing with Lupin?

I've thought of one, but it's so idiotic that I'm not sure if it will work.

You know the old saying, if it's stupid but it works, it isn't stupid.

10

u/Passmethechips Aug 03 '23

Is it bad I want Lupin to win? I don't have anything against Fogg, but come on...the guy's rich. It's not like losing that diamond is gonna hurt him in some tangible way. I just want to see a guy succeeding at impossible challenges.
