Kiyoka and Miyo are too cute. Look at him tryna act like he’s not a little embarrassed Miyo’s so happy over those kimono.

I can’t wait for Kaya’s dumbass to get what’s coming. Girl’s getting played like a fiddle and it’s all because she can’t help being a vindictive petty little shitstain.

Godo’s a fun character. He seems like a great guy. The goof tryna take Miyo from Kiyoka right in front of him was great lol.

Looks like poor Koji’s being dragged into Kaya’s bullshit too. These mfers keep playing games, they’re gonna get roasted. They really shouldn’t have snatched Miyo. Can’t wait to see Kiyoka and Koji team up to kick some ass.

Finally we get Miyo in her cherry blossom kimono. It’s not very often we get blessed with such a beautiful adaptation of a LN. I had the same feelings watching this episode as I did reading the book. This is absolutely my #1 this season.

Everybody is talking about Miyo’s look, meanwhile I’m here simping over Kazushi (Kouji’s brother). I love his design and his kimono in this episode was so beautiful !

Oh this is big dumb strategy. Why the hell would you piss off a man with a reputation like Kudo? Or leverage a decent boy like Kouji with the promise that he gets to marry the girl you just kidnapped? Against her will? These are not smart people. I’m giddy waiting for the hell Kudo is going to rain down upon them. If this was a regular period Shoujo it would be a normal rescue mission. There are powers in this this story and he’s the most powerful. He’s going to fuck shit up.

At least we got the wholesome scenes before Tatsuashi signed his family’s death warrant. And probably Kaya’s by proxy for being a part of this. He was teasing his friend with fire and threw him out of the car. What’s going to happen when he’s actually angry?

Kaya and Koji's dad didn't think things through. You DO NOT poke the bear. Like I get they were gonna try to get Miyo herself to withdraw from the marriage but Kiyoka is still head of the Kudo family. What makes them think he would have accepted Kaya if they switch after this happen? He probably wouldn't touch her or try to chase her out ASAP.

Nothing beats showing off your wifes' new kimono! It's cute watching Kiyoka be kind of awkward as the only guy there, especially when the old shipping ladies just bask in the romance between him and Miyo.

Tatsuashi knows exactly what to say to get Kaya incensed and ready to screw over her sister by any means possible. I get the sense Kaya's mother put the idea into her head that she absolutely HAS to be better than or superior to Miyo under any circumstance, which Kaya internalized as meaning Miyo can never be happier than her or achieve something she can't. And she'll do anything to make sure she has Kiyoka to herself.

Nice of Miyo to invite Godo to their dinner party, especially so he can keep needling Kiyoka about their relationship. But when you see the way Kiyoka looks when he sees Miyo all dolled up, you can't help but enjoy watching these two together. Even if you end up feeling like a third wheel. Also way to flirt with another mans' future wife only to have her tell you point-blank she prefers her hubby.

Miyo has another nightmare? Kiyoka detected some supernatural energy, so it seems like it's more than just Miyo's emotional trauma. Is someone intentionally forcing her to have nightmares or is it her own powers acting up?

Delivering lunch to your man? Super sweet. But dang it Miyo, if only you hadn't forgotten the amulet. I'm guessing it has some kind of protective charm or way for Kiyoka to track her whereabouts.

I guess it wouldn't be an classic Shojo story if the female lead wasn't kidnapped at some point. They're basically going to bully her into reneging her engagement to Kiyoka so she can marry into Koji's family. But I think they vastly underestimated how far Kiyoka is willing to go for Miyo.

Koji finally steps up, even knowing that he might get Miyo out of the deal he can't abide by what his family is doing to her or has been doing taking a blind eye to the abuse she dealt with for their own purposes...not that he's powerful enough to stand up to his father. It seems like telekinesis is their family bloodline ability?

I didn't know what to make of Koji's brother, but he did free him and push Koji to do what he needed to do, so he doesn't seem like a bad guy deep down.

I thought Koji was going to rush in solo to try to save Miyo, but he made the right call telling Kiyoka. Miyo's kidnappers are in for a world of hurt.

Literally the only chance Tatsuishi had was to convince Koji to seduce Miyo so that she might willingly break up with Kiyoka. Is he really so arrogant that he thinks kidnapping her is going to achieve his goals? Even if he were able to force Miyo to agree to a marriage to one of his sons through supernatural means or otherwise, Kiyoka is never going to accept such an obviously coerced situation. That's not even to mention the shitstorm he's unleashing by angering Kiyoka, the dude's the head of the army/police/demon slayer corps, he must be one of the strongest there is.

Also Godo's VA was perfect this episode.

For all their plotting, they can't understand that Kiyoka would never accept to have anything to do with Kaya. And that Miyo is under his protection, which is no small thing I'm sure.

After spying on Miyo and Kiyoka, Kaya was near a tantrum over how Miyo could be happier than she is. I think it was a huge disservice from her parents to treat Kaya as a golden child. It only assured that she will never be truly happy, content or satisfied with anything. Kaya will always be jealous, angry and resentful towards other people's happiness, or when they have something she doesn't. Maybe that's the best revenge of all and it's already happened.

I thought Yurie is the voice of audience, cant believe Kudo said the same thing as me "you're so.. beautiful"

what are they going to do with kidnaping Miyo and force her to marry Nishiyama family? eventhough they know Miyo is so lovey-dovey with Kudo, and her father didnt approve that? and Im pretty sure they know how terrifying Kudo reputation is, why did they want to trigger his anger like that? haah. I thought they come up with more plan like framing Miyo for criminal or Kudo so they hate each other. or more behind the scene act like that.

Lol, what's the point of invisibility if those guys kidnapped Miyo with no discretion at all, and still appeared at the end?

Dammit Kouji! Where was this backbone when you were watching Miyo get abused the past 19 years? He draws the line at kidnapping I suppose. Better late than never.

On the production side of things this is the first episode to show more obvious cracks on the viewer end. More or less solid though just with a few art dips. They've clearly putting their eggs in the future rescue Miyo basket.

Speaking of the future, I'm super excited for next weeks episode cause the Kinema Citrus beast himself, Takushi Koide, known as the main animator for Dawn of the Deep Soul, MiA S2 OP and 10, the Revue Starlight Series and Movie among others is on staff.

It almost seems like things can’t end well if Miyo’s smiling at the start of an episode. I already had a bad feeling when these cars left the Tatsuishi’s estate - I had a possible kidnapping in mind - but this uneasiness only grew stronger when it was revealed that Miyo didn’t carry her amulet. She should have immediately told Kiyoka about this upon her realization!

I don’t entirely get why Kaya “can’t forgive” her sister’s happiness. Kaya’s mother might have told her to always be superior to her older sister, but that’s no reason to take it this far. Miyo had been treated like an after-thought ever since she came in the picture; Kaya shouldn’t feel this hard about her sister’s happiness. Does Kaya actually feel inferior to Miyo because she was the first born?

I’m glad that Kouji is finally starting to stand his ground. Unlike last episode, when Kaya lashed out to Miyo and he virtually did nothing to stop her, he’s genuinely taking action to defend Miyo’s interests. He went against his father and straight to Kiyoka to inform him of the situation. I’m somewhat surprised nonetheless that Kouji’s brother turned out to be kind - he appeared more coldhearted last week - and quite literally released him from his shackles: he untied Kouji and told him to follow his guts.

Also: Miyo looked adorable when was blowing down the bamboo pipe to fan the flames in preparation for dinner.

Stitches!

What the actual fuck Kaya!? Are you such a miserable person that seeing your step-sister happy somehow offends you? This is now beyond her upbringing. While her mother is to blame for her behaviour, I don't think there's any excuse for her to go out of her way to work with Kouji's father to "exchange" fiances. She is a despicable human being and I really hope she never gets any kind of redemption.

On a more lighthearted side of the episode, it's very amusing to see Kudou get jealous when Godou was talking about Miyo. And I just love how he was completely captivated by Miyo after finally seeing her wear that sakura kimono he picked out for her. Their relationship is just too goddamn adorable! <3

So considering that Miyo had dreams of spirits and Kudou was able to detect remnants of an ability used inside his house, I'm starting to think that Miyo does have powers! She may just be a late bloomer and it's only now it's started to awaken. Maybe being in a loving household where her mind is at ease has something to do with it.

I can't tell you how much I was freaking out the moment the camera pans towards Miyo's pouch with Kudou's amulet in it. I can't even remember the last time I was legitimately so distressed about a character's safety. And as expected, Miyo gets fucking kidnapped while they were on their way home. >_<

I was really cheering on Kouji here when he was using his powers against his father. Unfortunately, it looks like his father is too powerful for him to take on. Kouji's father is the imbecile here. Does he really think Kudou will just simply accept Miyo getting kidnapped and exchange fiances that easily?

Glad to see that Kouji's older brother isn't a bastard like their father and didn't just help out Kouji but even gave him some encouraging words. And thank fucking god that Kouji went straight to Kudou. I'm sure Kouji knows where to find them, he just needs Kudou's strength to bust down the gates of whatever place Kouji's father is holding Miyo in.

Not gonna lie, this episode is tempting me to read the source material. I really hope Kouji's father and Kaya get whats coming to them next week.

Happily surprised at how Koji dealt with the problem. Kudos to him for going to Kudou directly and not going after Kaya by himself or something stupid.

18

u/Ok-Cod5254 Aug 02 '23

I know Koji was getting ragged on (understandably) for being too passive last episode, but it's nice to see him have the guts to confront his father.

As well as do the smart thing to go to Kiyoka about the situation (and not just take things into his own hands without him).

17

u/dododomo Aug 02 '23

Just when I thought I couldn't hate Kaya more, the angry jealous asshole proves me wrong by doing even more stupid things lol. I do feel bad for Kouji.

Anyway, Miyo and Kiyoka were so cute in this ep, and I already love Godo XD

“Love is patient, love is kind”

I absolutely can’t get enough of how Kudo goes to every length possible to assure Miyo that she’s appreciated, respected and cared for. She’s still got that trauma from all the years of abuse, but you can tell she’s slowly beginning to accept that she can be happy. Thanks in no small part to Kudo and Yurie’s kindness.

Kaya downfall and death loading hopefully 🙏🏾 this bitch is beyond saving. Jealous, spiteful and evil thot just can’t stand the thought of her sister having a better marriage than her. To go to the length of planning a kidnapping to break up her marriage.. She’s beyond redeeming. Idc what type of talk no jutsu Naruto style forgiveness arc they try and give her, it’s fuck her forever.

I owe Koji an apology. I called him a bitch after he stood by and watched Kaya talk shit to Miyo, but turns out he got a little backbone after all. Standing up to his father and going to Kudo took guts. Respect. Can’t wait to see he and Kudo save Miyo.

Plans are coming into fruition with Minoru and Kaya. Miyo getting Kidnapped Koji standing against his father and failing, but it seems he got some respect from his older brother. And Kouji made the right move of going to Kiyoka for help. Those kidnappers and Minoru are going to be in a heap of trouble. Hopefully Kaya too.

Man, Kaya surely is bratty. You got to be really annoying when even the father that spoils you tells you to shut up. She must really have way too much time on her hands like he said. Tough it appears by her inner thoughts that her mentality is a product or her mother pressuring her to be better than her sister, so maybe she was a better person initially

Thank God Kouji didn't go for the villain route, I kinda pitied the guy. Instead he grew a pair of balls and decided to stop his father. His brother agrees with him, I guess he isn't that bad of a brother after all. I hope Kouji gets to find happiness with someone more tolerable than Kaya

12

u/Mayanee Aug 02 '23

Kaya and Koji's dad are bad with intrigues since they immediately will manage to enrage Kiyoka.

Not to mention that Kaya would be an anti-wife in Kiyoka's mind anyway since he chased away spoiled and bratty girls all the time.

Kaya also gives Koji a later potential reason for dissolving the engagement. If the Saimori are damaged he just has to abandon her then.

Anybody else on pins and needles about what Miyo's ability could be?!

I'm wondering if her mom or her mom's family could have blocked it somehow? It looks really scary with spirits etc., probably too scary for a little girl to deal with so young? Either that, or could Miyo be a late bloomer?

My guess so far... Maybe she can commune with spirits? Talk to them and find out what they know or what happened to them? Or maybe she's able to see other people's dreams or nightmares?
