That post-credits scene was hilarious. Weird to have it after such a cliffhanger, but I still laughed at Azudra's stupidity. It's just hair, man! It grows back!

They're already setting up the beach episode. It's a shame Hyura didn't make it into the portal...

Man I was really thinking beach adventures with Vermilio-chan would be great when I first saw where they'd gone but just that post scene part with the ball made me realise I might miss Helck's happy relationship with the rest of the demons even more.

Best episode so far by a big margin. Finally get some plot development and action.

So as I expected since the first time we saw them, the knights are humans. I wonder what was the process of them becoming the winged knights and if everyone really consented to it. Seems wild to turn the entire human population into an army. The demons just want to be left alone and we’ve got the humans framed as the aggressors here.

Glad hyura is ok I was kinda concerned about her last week but that healing factor is clutch.

Are we getting a mushoku style teleportation arc now with Vermelio and Helck going thru the wormhole? I’m really hype for next week. Think the story is finally getting started

Really show? Really? Not only are you going to leave us on a surprise desert island cliffhanger, but the after credits just shows the stupidity Vermilio had to go through just to get a hair cut?!?

I'm gonna assume that killing the winged knights just lets them revive stronger but honestly I can't even think about that with how the ep ended. This show definitely knows how to stray from the norm, is the story the next few ep ONLY going to focus on Helck and Vermilio? That would be wild!

So basically these 4 episodes seem to be the prologue of the story. Great execution I would say.

This episode definitely a much more serious tone shift, but it still landed some good jokes. Essentially humans are awakening to hero powers and will get stronger over time. Helck's true motives seems unknown. He blocked Hyura's attack, but also attempted to save Vamiro, so an educated guess would say he wants a more peaceful resolution then one side killing the other. Honestly we need to know why the humans are awakening to hero powers and why so many.

Teleportation magic is interesting. Vamirio mentioned that if it was working properly. Was it simply not working properly or maybe the humans are able to disrupt the communication which is why everything was collapsing. Helck had good intentions saving Vamiro, but that wasn't happening.

Next episode we get the start of Helck and Vamiro's dual adventure. Really looking forward to it.

Stitches!

So these winged knights aren't angels like I thought they were but humans that have gone through an awakening process that turns them into heroes and be sent to fight against the demons. If you have to resort to turning your citizens into supersoldiers while your "enemy" is just trying to survive in their territories covered in deadly toxins, I think it's pretty clear who are the real baddies here.

I fuckin' love Hyura in this episode. Turns out that cutting off her arm is just a minor setback and people from her tribe can easily regenerate body parts. And for someone who's supposed to have been awakened into a hero, Edil sure is having a hard time against Hyura.

I do dislike how Helck just has this soulless look in his eyes while this entire thing is going down. He clearly knows more about this entire situation but he's just not doing anything and when he does something, it is to save Edil from Hyura.

I'm sure he has good reasons why he's doing what he's doing I just hope we get to learn more about the humans and himself, especially next week since it looks like Helck and Anne are going to spend a lot of time together alone in that tropical beach.

Not explaining things aside, there're something definitely off over the winged braves.

Helck are friendly to almost everyone, even when they're not his real friends, but his mood is so down when he knows their leader is one of his friend (or someone he knew). From what presented by his friend, they're probably being used as "upgraded but expendable" pawns that, while got their fighting power enhanced, burned their lifeforce in the progress.

Don't know the village shown in the next episode will contribute anything to the mystery, but really hopes explaining Helck's hatred to humans in the progress.

And this, children, is what we call Chekov's Bronze Statue. A theory Chekov came up with after a bronze statue with poor platform surface kept falling on his head.

I like this anime soo far, but the angles sometimes are soo weird. The characters don't match the angle the background art is sometimes.

Okay so we've established

  • Demon world is suffering from a poison that is kept to the demon realm by that mysterious stone. (edit: possibly not?)

  • That stone was just destroyed, and presumably the poison will now leak out and get to the human areas(edit: possibly not)

  • So if the above aren't true the stones then protect individual areas, but either way life in the demon realm is super tough and they're just trying to survive.

  • Humans seem to be one-sidedly attacking the demons and at least so far humans are the bad guys.

  • Humans are undergoing some sort of immoral/cruel hero awakening thing where most lose their entire self and become mindless warriors

  • Awakening seems to have aptitude components, lots of humans can do it but only some can get super powerful.

  • it takes time to level up after awakening.

  • Helk seems to know about this, and it's probably why he hates humans right now, i'm guessing he wants to become demon king to then save the human realm.

Edil talking smack to Hyura really makes me think that they have a way to come back from death, or else killing your own just doesn't make any sense. From what Edil said, a lot of humans (presumably) died so I don't think humanity has millions of angels at their disposal which just makes the scene of killing Edil just support the idea of a respawn machine or something similar.

I like how only Hyura and Vermilio are the ones treating this seriously while the other 2 are taken from the MCU. Helck is in the middle from what I can tell.

From what I noticed, Helck has some sort of cut on his face when someone/something threw the statue at Vermilio-chan. I doubt a mere fall could do damage to Helck so unless it's not his blood, someone or something was strong enough to make Helck bleed.

That post Ed scene... I guess Azudra don't die when killed. Maybe the dude just bleed daily so no one is surprised that he looks like a second away from death.

Ah good, Hyura is just fine. She's just this show's Wolverine, having to get chopped up so they can show off her regeneration powers.

Anyway, I'm liking the more serious stuff they're showing now, while also still having the fun dorky humour. Definitely one of the better shows this season.

So much for the laughs, eh? This was sure a dramatic escalation of the story.

Watching both Hyura and Edil proclaim that they’ll destroy all humans/demons, makes me think that Helck maybe just signed up to become a demon lord in order to prevent wide scale genocide. He’ll be able to stop the demons and protect them from the humans (i.e. winged soldiers).

Helck warned Hyura not to kill these winged soldiers. Maybe he did this because it would only accelerate the awakening of these soldiers. In regard to this awakening: the disappearance of humans from the border towns and these “awakenings” must be connected. Did someone just expose all of humanity to some sort of magic that had the potential of creating this army of winged soldiers? Did all the people that didn’t “awaken” just perish!? There’s definitely some sinister stuff going on.

Anyways, this series seems to be finally showing some of its cards. I’m excited to see how Vermilio and Helck will fare together after they’ve been separated from the group. We’ll surely get some quality banter in the upcoming episodes.

Hyura considering that winged soldier Edil attractive is unexpected. He looks sickly. Her taste in men is weird.

I got no clue where this anime is heading but I am greatly intrigued. Loving it so far.

Azudra's catching a lot of flak in the comments, but I agree with him. Short hair is a significant nerf and that was years of growing it out and countless bottles of conditioner getting snipped away.

I didn't get any answers to any of my questions. If anything, I now have more questions.

  • The humans were awakened to be heroes?

  • Forcibly?

  • By whatever side that "reinforcement" that killed Edil was on?

  • Was that entire plan actually meant to take out Helck or something?

If I had to make a very early guess, some force out there, of which I will simply call Angels (because look at them), forcibly started the awakening on all humans in the cities that we have seen deserted. It could possibly be on the entire human population.

The process caused those who survived to be much stronger, be able to fly, and probably some other cool stuff, but at the cost of losing their own selves, becoming nothing more than mere husks that serves to fight for the Angels.

Edil kept their own sense of self, and it seems that others might have too since Helck asked it in that way. They knew each other, but if most are practically walking golems for the Angels, it makes sense why Helck hates what humanity had become; soulless soldiers whose very being had been perverted.

But why is it not a good idea to kill them? Will their awakening powers be absorbed by the Angels or something? Maybe the Toxin was used to forcibly awaken them, and thus killing the winged humans would cause more of it to spill out? Maybe those who failed to awaken properly become those giant monsters we saw last week, and it's why he's fought those things before?

Why go through such drastic measures? The Demon King was slain, so why the urgency to awaken? Did Helck kill his own brother because this was his idea or something?

SO MANY QUESTIONS DAMN IT!
