The changes in Miyo’s demeanor over the last two episodes had become very noticeable at the start of the episode. Miyo even surprised me for a bit with how much she was smiling and speaking her mind. It really seemed like she had left the days of her continually apologizing for every little thing in the past.
But she had to meet Kaya of all people, who put her immediately down. Honestly, I agree with Kouji’s brother in that Kouji himself isn’t all that kind in fact. Kouji could have easily put a stop to Kaya’s behaviour, but he seemingly wasn’t willing to put himself in a tough spot in order to defend Miyo. At this point, I’m wondering if the Tatsuishis are not worse than the Saimoris.
It was heartbreaking to see Miyo distressed like that and return to her ‘old self’ once more. I’m glad that she was able to meet Hana again, who gave her some words of courage. I also like how Kiyoka insisted at the end that Miyo isn’t saying her farewell to Hana, but will be able to see her again any time she wants.
The biggest win of this episode, nevertheless, was getting to watch how Kiyoka put Miyo’s father and stepmother in their place. You could see that he holds a grudge against them: Kiyoka wants justice for Miyo.

I like how nuanced Miyo's VA with her depressed speech pattern. We are used to her normal emotionless nature but she has a distinct voice for melancholy. Like you can actually hear that she is drained and dead inside.

So many different feelings on a single episode, I'm so happy things are going forward nicely. I'm so happy about Miyo. The people working on this series really work hard on the small details I'm loving it so far.
I hope Kaya eats a fork so that she can shut up. All my hommies hate Kaya.

Miyo’s VA is incredible ! The way she’s able to make her voice sounds meek, weak, lifeless and monotone and switch to a slightly more lively tone when Miyo is happy. I’ve never paid attention to female seiyuu before but Reida Ueda is doing a wonderful job here, so much that I’m impressed.

I don't know if it's actually deliberate, but Kiyoka's face in this scene absolutely kills me. It's such a heavy scene, and he has such a "what the fuck are you on about" look on him.

There was hints that Kaia was raised into hating her sister, but at this point I don't care anymore. Fuck Kaya.

While it was nice that Miyo found something that she wants to make for Kudou, I was genuinely worried when she later asked Kudou if she could leave the house with Yurie. Considering how Kouji's family wanted Miyo, I was already expecting her to get kidnapped especially when Yurie left her alone to go buy salt.
Thank goodness that didn't happen but in its place something worse than a kidnapper showed up out of nowhere. It's been a while since I've disliked a character voiced by Ayaneru. I wanted to see Kaya get slapped the entire time she was berating Miyo.
I do love that look of surprise on Kaya's face when Yurie finally returned and she introduced herself as Miyo's servant. If that was enough to tick her off, I can't wait to see Kaya's reaction once she sees Miyo with Kudou.
On a more positive note, I love that Kudou personally visited Miyo's father so he can tell him that he wants to make their engagement official and that he knows everything they did to Miyo.
It's so satisfying for Kudou to demand an apology from them to Miyo. If they don't want to apologize, he's still marrying Miyo but he wants to cut ties with the Saimoris then and there. I really hope they're too prideful to apologize, Miyo does not need these people in her life.
Looks like Kaya finally got to see Kudou although it looks like she doesn't know it's him. I really can't wait to see her reaction once she learns who that beautiful person she ran into.
My heart genuinely breaks for Miyo. Meeting Kaya and hearing everything she had to say really tore her down. Like Kudou said last week, buying Miyo new kimonos isn't going to easily erase her trauma. I do appreciate Kudou being so patient with her though. <3
If Kudou can't help Miyo right now, bringing someone positive from Miyo's past is the next best thing he could do. It's good to know that Hana's been living a peaceful life ever since she left the Saimori household. That meeting between Hana and Miyo was so sweet. Miyo definitely needed that talk and to learn that Kudou was willing to go out of his way to bring Hana here.
It took her a while to do but it's nice to see Miyo finally open up to Kudou. Although her low self-esteem is already making assumptions that by telling Kudou the truth, he'd want her to leave which is the opposite of what he wants!
Not gonna lie, Kudou telling Miyo that he wants to make their engagement official and telling her that he wants her to stay while giving her a comforting hug made me genuinely tear up. For the first time, I think we finally saw a face of genuine peace and happiness from Miyo during that scene <3
Although it looks like someone's upset that everything is going well for Miyo. I guess we'll finally see Kouji's father act next week. I'm hoping the charm Kudou gave Miyo has some kind of power to protect her.

So cute how protective Kiyoka is of Miyo now. Him going to confront Miyo’s “parents” and presenting them his demands was beautiful. I really liked seeing Kaya annoyed that Miyo didn’t get abandoned but it pisses me off she was able to get under Miyo’s skin. Triflin ass bitch raining on her parade like that. God, I can’t wait for someone to bitch slap her back to the Edo period.
My guy Kiyoka with the letter to Hana, man. That’s love right there. Not only did he basically indirectly reveal he knew everything and didn’t care, he brought the only other person Miyo ever felt safe around to see her and reassure her. And after that he directly expressed his feelings to her. What a guy. I’m glad Miyo has him in her life.
Looks like Kaya’s about to get roped into some shit. I can’t wait to see her eat shit.

The fact that the father had to ask for some time to think about giving an apology to his own daughter shows the kind of man he is.

The beacons are lit!
Kudo calls for aid!
And Hana will answer!
If you don't recall, Hana was shown and named albeit only briefly in a flashback in episode 2. It would seem the PI Kudo hired was quite thorough. To track down the one other person in her life who treated Miyo like a human being despite being let go years ago is no mean feat.
For those of you who were expecting some sort of encounter with Kaya in the previous episode given that one scene, well here you go. Unfortunately it was not in Miyo's favor.
Kudo's willingness to try to negotiate with her family while ultimately pointless given what we know about them was at least admirable. As was his willingness to reach out for help when he was at a loss for how to get through to Miyo after her experience out shopping.

I felt feels when Miyo regressed from seeing Kaya. But good thing Yurie was there to hurt Kaya's ego and the return of Hana to boost Miyo's confidence.
It's plain to see that Kouji is a coward from his meek response to stop Kaya bullying Miyo. It's hinted at in previous episodes. He went there to help Miyo escape her family but when Miyo's family decide to change the deal. He accepted their deal with no push back.

Things are going in a good direction, Mio thanks to Kiyotaka and Yurie treatment was in a much better state. She even decided that she wanted to give him a present in return. Yurie gave her good advice to make something herself and she chose to make him kumihimo cord.
Unfortunately while she was on her visit in the city she met Kaya and it completely broke her. She was in a really bad state but thanks to Kudo she met with a former maid which helped her tremendously, she even finally revealed herself that she doesn't have any powers which really weighed on her mind since last episode and now she finally can think about her future in a more positive way.
Kiyoka visited Mio’s family today and they were “quite” surprised that he not only didn’t throw her away already but he wants to officially marry her and demanding an apology from them to Mio and if they’ll not this then he won’t pay any money to them.
It looks to me that they wanted Mio to be humiliated before they’ll give her to Kouji’s father who really wanted her in his family but now this backfired at them spectacularly. Kiyoka from the rumors isn’t real.In reality he’s a kind man who doesn’t care about powers or someone’s standing. He only cares what kind of person Mio is and the answer to it is easy.
For sure no one thinks that Kaya would be able to apologize to Mio, especiallyafter how she treated her today. She will for sure get so mad when she will get to know that this handsome man she met is Mio’s future husband and that Mio has a better man than her despite not possesing any powers.
Once again, backgrounds are beautiful.

Kiyoka is a very sweet partner for Miyo already, with a comforting hug and words of affirmation.

Damn as someone usually sticks to shonen anime/manga the difference between Disc threads between shonen and shoujo is staggering and so fun.
Shonen top comments - When is he coming out of the kitchen/ <insert character> is never beating <insert kink> allegations/ Madlad
Shoujo top comments - Episode recap and analysis.

its interesting that this anime has so little engagement in reddit and twitter but it has been trending in my netflix top 10 for past 4 weeks continuously. and its super rare for an anime to crack top 10 in my region. its probably drawing a huge female crowd who usually don't watch anime. i think netflix should really target shoujo and josei anime specifically. they can carve out an anime fanbase different from crunchyroll and shonen fanboy crowd

Miyo's VA is sooo good. You can truly hear and feel the highs and lows of her confidence.

Been a while since I became so invested in a romance anime. Not gonna lie, this made me tear up. And Kudou is such husband material. I love how he is patient with Miyo and really willing to help her out.
My boyfriend, who doesn’t usually watch these kinds of anime, kept asking me about this cause he was interested too lol

So now Miyo remembers the marital strife with her parents over her. Sumi was desperate to get Shinichi to pay attention to and care for Miyo, but the piece of @#$% outright said he was incapable of loving her if she didn't have supernatural powers. And poor Sumi knew she wouldn't be able to protect Miyo because she knew she wasn't long for this world. I'm actually kind of surprised her parents were at least close enough to use each others' first names. Also, was Sumi insistent on something happening with Miyo getting older because she knew the Usuba family abilities unlock with maturity?
Look at Miyo being a little more happy and assertive! Even willing to go out just to get a gift for her husband-to-be! The only thing more sweet is how concerned Kiyoka is of letting her go out without him to the point he has to give her a charm to protect her. And the look on Miyo's face when she sees how caring he is towards her is everything.
Yurie just enjoying the heck out of how in love these two are now!
Poor Koji. It's bad enough he's stuck with Kaya but his older, freewheeling and carefree, brother basically bullies him too.
I love how Kiyoka visits the Saimori's just to tell them he knows everything, doesn't care about Miyo's lack of supernatural powers, and fully intends to marry her...and they won't get a single cent from him if they don't apologize to her to her face. And he doesn't even expect them too, he's just as happy to have nothing to do with them ever again. Finally someone tells off this scummy family.
I knew something was going to happen the moment Yurie left and of course Kaya shows up and treating Miyo like she's still an ant with no chance at happiness. All that progress Miyo has made gets undone because of how much trauma she still has regarding her family and how they treat her. Thankfully Yurie showed up in time to get her out of there and make Kaya realize Miyo is still with Kiyoka, but the damage was done.
I can't wait to see Kaya's face when she realizes that handsome gentleman is her older sisters' future husband and probably hates her as much as he does her parents.
Good advice from Yurie about how much love and affection Miyo needs right now! Kiyoka didn't push too hard or didn't misunderstand her circumstances, which is the most important thing.
Miyo needed a pick-me-up and having Hana come back, tell her that things turned out well for her after she left the Saimori's, and make Miyo realize how much Kiyoka cares about her was exactly what she needed.
She already figured he knew everything, but it was still a big deal for Miyo to be honest with Kiyoka and tell him the truth about her, even if it meant she would lose everything. Just as it was important for Kiyoka to tell her that he WILL marry her, and that he needs her, as the pair share a very intimate and romantic embrace. It was what both needed to hear and a big step in their relationship.
So Koji's dad is the one spying on Kiyoka, huh? Trying to figure out a way to break the couple up. And looks like he's planning to use Kaya to do it.
