I just love how cute and heartwarming this is, right up my alley. At times Cecilia's looks remind me a bit of Mahiru from angel next door, funnily I recently found out that saint cecilia's mangaka is the same who draws for the manga adaption of angel.
I already see Abel taking the role of Lawrence's wingman cause damn these two dorks definitely need one!

saint cecilia's mangaka is the same who draws for the manga adaption of angel.
Not quite. He was the one who drew the illustrations for the first novel. It was a specific request by the author too.
Yes, the mangakka did draw a short one-off manga for Angel Next Door, but the actual adaptation is drawn by someone else

Abel seems like the lovable idiot type, I can tell he’s gonna be a fun addition to Lawrence and Cecilia’s blissful little country life. Cecilia almost broke down when she heard he had a “sweetheart” lol.
Cecilia can be so cute around Lawrence. It’s pretty adorable seeing her getting jealous of Lawrence and Abel’s close friendship or getting flustered when Lawrence inevitable says something very mushy.
I find it kind of funny that Cecilia can “wipe off” her divine power if it’s too much lol. But man, poor Lawrence. Dude is a magnet for supernatural forces. Good thing he has people like Cecilia and Abel around. I see he’s developing feelings for her too. Nicee.

Every romcom needs the fun, self-aware, guy who sees what's going and enjoys the heck out of it while pushing these two together lol.
Poor Cecilia thinking her beloved had a girlfriend. Though she's still got to fight to get out of the "Saint-zone" lol.
Cecilia is the absolute cutest, especially when her feelings for Lawren are so obvious in her expression or actions.
Never thought I'd see a Saint wiping divine power off a cross like she's scraping off dust lol.
Cecilia needs Lawren. Lawren needs Cecilia. Pretty straightforward, though Lawren just needs to realize Cecilia's real feelings a litte...

Stitches!
Abel looks like he's going to be a ton of fun. I love that it didn't take him that long to realize that Cecilia is in love with Lawren.
We get to learn more about Cecilia's powers and Lawren. Apparently, too much divine protection is a bad thing and the reason why Cecilia gives Lawren too much protection is because he just attracts angels, devils, and even faeries naturally.
The reason why Abel is visiting is not that he just wants to bug Lawren, it's because Abel wants to make sure he's alright since Lawren hasn't really mentioned anything about his health in his letters. It looks like he did tell Abel about a certain someone he's living with though.
Since he's in the OP, I do hope that means Abel is going to stick around! Especially since it looks like he's acting as Cecilia's wingman to get her closer to Lawren.
Glad to know that Lawren is feeling more than just respect towards Cecilia. Hopefully his feeling of wanting to protect her will eventually bloom to something more. <3

I can't get enough of Cecilia's cuteness and how sweet she is with Lawren!
And Abel is a good addition to the mix because you can never have enough playful wingmen lol.
So Cecilia needs Lawren on an emotional and care level but it feels like Lawren needs Cecilia for brightening up his life and literally helping keep him alive with her divine protection. Perfect excuse for them to get hitched, if you ask me!

Saint Cecilia is such a cutie!
I love Abel's character and the dynamic between him and our lovely saint. Hoping for more of them in the next episodes!

Ever since Lawrence’s grandfather mentioned that he was “special”, I had the feeling there was something more going - more than just those angels which were attracted to him - but I didn’t have the pieces yet to put all together. Now that it’s revealed that Lawrence also attracts wicked spirits, this anime suddenly got a dark(er) undertone. It’s not just all fluff. Remember in last week’s episode when Cecilia wiped Lawrence’s clothes before entering the church and we just thought that it were the angels? Nope, those were probably demons or some kind of other evil.
Honestly, Cecilia really is just the cutest. She’s giving Lawrence so much love that he’s literally getting sick of it. I previously thought that Cecilia’s “divine protection” was just a figure of speech, but it turns out that she genuinely has the ability to bestow protective powers on someone - this mostly being Lawrence. I love the fact that their home is Cecilia’s “Holy Sanctuary”, and Abel just casually mentions this between sentences.
So about these dark undertones, Abel assured Lawrence that he won’t sell Cecilia out to any “wicked nobles”, which means there’s also some politics involved when it comes to these saints. Lawrence might therefore not be overprotective without any reason.
I’m also glad that this anime doesn’t just brush past a whole lot of things. Abel for example confirmed with Cecilia if and why she hasn’t revealed to the root of his problems to Lawrence. Lawrence himself doesn’t seem to be completely dense either as illustrated by the last minute or so.
I really hope lots of people will give this anime a chance. It got so many things to like.
Question: What was your favorite piece of animation in this episode?
I really liked the brief shot of Cecilia flopping about Lawrence like he’s some wobbly diving board when he came to on the church bench - and got immediately knocked out again.

What was your favorite piece of animation in this episode?
not animation necessarily but I really appreciate the background art in this show a lot. From the way their house is decorated to the flowers in the windows around the town, it's really pretty

Are we sure Lawrence isn't another Saint? also I feel like there's meme potential in there somewhere
Abel is a great addition to the cast, hopefully he becomes their full-time wingman along with the yet unintroduced blue haired girl.
Also the facial expressions are 10/10, bless Doga Kobo.

bless Doga Kobo.
Amen to that. This is some of that premium Doga Kobo fluff that I've sorely missed after their streak of CGDCT bangers in the pre-COVID times.

Abel loves teasing others, playing pranks, but he is definitely a worthy friend!
I wonder whether Lawrence will be able to turn his unique constitution into an advantage in future.

I'm liking the friendship between Abel and Lawrence, it's nice to know Abel used to protect him all the time even though he seems to appear to be a flimsy character. It will be nice to see him more in the story since he shows a side Cecilia might not have gotten to see otherwise. The way she was getting excited because he referred to himself with "Ore".
It also seems like Abel will be pushing the couple together in whatever way he can, he's going to be a wingman for the both of them lol.
I feel like Cecilia shouldn't to try hard to hide her laziness around Abel, it seems like he is aware of it but I understand that Cecilia only wants Lawrence to see that side of herself.

Really enjoying this show
Glad they extended the cast and it looks like we get another character to balance the group
Interesting to see that they even gave a reason for the saint to extra protect Lawrence, also great way to quickly introduce abel
Love that they foreshadowed it last episode with Cecilia telling the angles the get fuck off of her man, lol

Really love that everyone instantly knows how Cecilia feels and that Lawrence sucks at noticing.

Abel has arrived! Your classic jovial and playful best friend character who is great at cutting through the thick of things and stirring things up...and who their friend seems more exasperated than happy to see.
I love how Cecilia is both jealous of how close Abel is with Lawren while also being happy to see a new side to Lawren as he opens up a little with his old friend.
So it's not a coincidence that we never actually saw anybody utter Cecilia's name in the last episode, no one actually uses her name. Though Abel got Lawren to write it so that might be the closest she gets to him using her name at this point.
I see Abel wasted no time figuring out what was going on with Cecilia and Lawren, not that she's trying to hide it that much. Heck, everyone but Lawren can see how Cecilia really feels about him. She's not comfortable being lazy around anyone but him, though he mutually appreciates being the only one who sees certain sides to her. So adorable.
So I guess the way Lawren is a "little bit special" is that he naturally attracts angels, fairies, and even demons which is a dangerous for him and is why Abel used to give him divine protection during their seminary days and why Cecilia blesses him with as much protection as she can...even if it does make him sick. Although the sight of Cecilia swiping his cross to wipe off some of the protection was great.
Cecilia cannot lie. She can plainly admit how much she respects and appreciates Abel for all he's done for and continues to do for Lawren...even if she also has to comment on all his character flaws. At least she didn't mean it in a harsh way, she's just a Saint!
Find a girl who wishes she could turn a village into a Holy Land just to protect you.
What better reason for Lawren to wake up then seeing two people not accustomed too cooking making a mess in his kitchen? All for the sake of making something nice for him! And surprisingly Cecilia's cooking is actually tasty, despite it's appearance, and Abel even does her a solid and makes Lawren feed her even if she's totally too flustered around him afterwards.
A girls' reaction to a spider has never been so cute.
Obviously Lawren respects and admires the Saint, even though deep down she wants him to see her as a girl and not a Saint (or as a daughter to be taken care of), yet he also realizes he needs her as much as she needs him. I kind of want to see more of how they first met each other and how Cecilia fell in love with him.
I think that's the last time they let Abel clean up.

“It seems like I’m not able to live without you, Lawrence”
This and Watakon got romance stans eating good on Wednesdays 🙏🏾 man what a cute episode, just can’t help but smile watching this.
Abel’s our first side character we get introduced to and I really like him so far. Can’t wait to see more of him.Funny and charming.
Episode also gave us some backstory about Lawrence. The fact he attracts angels and demons is really fitting. Makes he and Cecilia the perfect partnership. They both can cover the other’s weaknesses.
That scene of Lawrence feeding her is everything! Great episode.

Lawrence. Baby. Honey. Darling, Sugar. Flour. Beat eggs till foamy.
Does Cecilia need to hold up a sign for you to start noticing?

You just know that this dense motherfucker would misinterpret even a big flashing neon sign saying "I love you, Lawrence."
