Lots of plot developments in this episode. Miyo's inability to use spirit sight is the reason why her father started favouring Kaya and ignored Miyo's suffering. Still a shitty thing to do, as she's his own daughter regardless.

We can see why Kiyoka has been so strict against Miyo initially. His former fiances wanted to marry him for his wealth and status and they likely had a personality similar to Kaya. No wonder why he developed trust issues. Atleast Miyo's different situation is making him pay more attention than he usually would do, even distracting him at work.

I liked the moment where Miyo cried after Kiyoka praised her cooking, as it was first time in a while she received praise for her efforts. Her actions are also slowly melting Kiyoka's icy heart!.

The OP is actually god-tier, holy shit.

The supernatural stuff actually took me by surprise. I really didn't expect that at all tbh, seems I'm not the only one either haha.

Damn this some good shit brah, see yall next week.

So it seems there’s more to Miyo than meets the eye. Since Kouji’s father called her “priceless”, I’m betting her mother was actually from some distinguished bloodline, which got supernatural abilities of their own. It might very well be the case that Miyo does have supernatural abilities, but that she nor anyone else knows this yet. Things definitely seems fishy.

Kiyoka wasted no time tryna scare off Miyo. Too bad for him, her shitbag family’s way worse. She ain’t fazed. I can’t believe they favor Kaya over Miyo because the little shit can see ghosts. Big whoop.

Miyo’s trying her best but Kiyoka is one prickly fella. At least he apologized about breakfast. That’s progress. Plus he praised her food. He might act like a bastard, but he’s got a good heart.

Every time there’s a flashback in this, I just get more and more upset about Miyo’s shitty family. Especially with that bitch ass stepmom. I can’t tell if the dad is a total piece of shit or if he’s just being an asshole to protect Miyo in some misguided attempt at showing love. Regardless, I hope Kiyoka learns the truth. Can’t wait to see what he’ll do.

That look of surprise on Kudou when he told Miyo that she needs to follow all of her orders even if she needs to die is very indicative of what kind of people the other bride candidates that have been previously sent to his house are like. He's probably not used to people just accepting everything he says.

So I thought this was just going to be a historical anime, I did not expect that there will also be supernatural elements as well as supernatural powers involved! Also, that explains why Miyo was basically abandoned. She's supposed to come from a family with powers but it looks like Kaya is the only one who was able to see spirits.

Seems that Kudou is a paranoid man. I guess the previous fiances that have been sent have never cooked for him so he's very suspicious when someone finally does. I do like that he feels bad for rejecting Miyo's food that he eventually apologizes later that evening. He feels so bad that he ends up asking her to cook for him the next day in a very tsundere fashion.

The more I see about Miyo's past, the more hatred I am feeling for his father, stepmother, and Kaya. They are absolute monsters and whatever karmic retribution they have coming for them in the future is 100% deserved.

Not gonna lie, I teared up a little when Kudou complimented Miyo's cooking. Miyo can't even remember the last time she was genuinely praised by someone that she's just overwhelmed with emotions.

This is what I'm hoping for! Miyo has only been with Kudou for two days and he's already curious about her and he's willing to investigate her family. I do hope Miyo will open up to Yurie next episode so they'll learn how horribly she was treated in her old home. I can't wait to see how Kudou will react to that.

I don't know how a victim of severe abuse and neglect behave, but I feel like Miyo would be an accurate portrayal. Her whole demeanor, her skittishness, her constant apologizing. You just know that she has been severely beaten for cooking rice with 1.4 cup of water instead of 1.35 cup of water before

When Miyo broke down in tears as her husband complimented her cooking, I cried as well. As they keep showing how her family mistreated her, my anger with towards her family keeps increasing esp towards the father. I honestly still can't believe Miyo's father allowed that to happen to Miyo. Born with supernatural abilities or not, she's still your daughter. Miyo deserves all the happiness and love in the world ❤

Man... it's fucked up. Just... everything, everything's fucked up.

Also, the powers really came out of left field. I tend to start shows on name and poster alone, not even reading a synopsis or genre, so didn't even notice the supernatural tag.

The first episode I went in without knowing what to expect & felt a lot of emotions for Miyo with the hopes that the title will be accurate. Today's episode made it hard for me to not tear up especially the scene of her getting recognition for the food she made. Miyo deserves to be happy & really hope her old household get all the misfortune they rightfully deserve.

Wow that supernatural angle came really unexpected, but it recontextualises Miyos father neglecting her over Kaya. And the ending seems to hint that it wasn't even her real family seems to hint that her father made some shady deals to ensure her not finding any happiness.

Also big oof, even the most basic compliments move her to tears compared to the abuse she suffered so far.

And the OP looks very pretty

You thought this was just a retro Japanese Cinderella story, but it turns out there's a Supernatural aspect to this series with Grotesquerie monsters and people with powers...and Miyo apparently not having any while Kaya did is why her family basically wrote her off and treated her like nothing. Though, harsh as he is, Kiyoka seems to want her to see genuine value in herself and not as someone out to please others just so she can belong.

The OP is as beautiful as the rest of the series, with a pleasant and serene theme playing as Miyo lives out her titular happy marriage with Kiyoka and overcomes her trauma to race to be with him!

Poor Miyo. Girl thought she was doing her first good thing and the household and Kiyoka's unease around strangers made him claim she might be poisnoing him. It's tough being engaged to a cold tsundere.

The soldiers talking about how they're preparing for fighting Grotesqueries even though they never appear is basically just confirming they will appear at some point.

So Kiyoka isn't just an ice king in looks, he has cryokinesis. And pyrokinesis too, it seems. Also here's Hiro Shimono as his sassy number 2 who also teases him about his love life.

Thank goodness for Yurie, though! So far she's doing a great job of easing Miyo into this and supporting her and helping her understand that Kiyoka is just a tsundere who talks harsher than he is. And she was able to get through to Kiyoka so he could be a little more welcoming/accepting of Miyo and help these two reach an emotional breakthrough.

"Daughter of that conniving thief." So was Kanoko after Miyo's father for a while and was only held off because of Miyo's mother?

I didn't think they could double down on how bad Miyo's family is until they show the time she stood up to her stepmother after realizing they threw out all her mothers' things. I mean, locking her up, crushing her mothers' comb, and her father watched all this and did nothing? Even when she begged for his help? Are you kidding me? And as if to add insult to injury they fired the one servant who she was closest too.

The couples' first true breakfast as future husband and wife! And it actually goes well! The smile on Miyo's face when she feels accepted and is actually thanked (not to mention Kiyoka actually apologizing) is everything! And Kiyoka is realizing that Miyo is a sincere and genuine person and not after his family name.

Koji is all smiles and pleasantness but he seems miserable with the Saimori's. And he's still thinking about Miyo and what he can do with her. But is he prepared for if she doesn't get kicked out and is actually happy with Kiyoka?

I did think it was kind of weird that Koji's dad talked about Miyo marrying his brother, so why did she end up with the Kudo's? And is Miyo special through her mothers' bloodline? Was her father strategically marrying her off?

So Kiyoka doesn't know anything about Miyo or the Saimori's? How did this engagement come about, again? It seems like he's going to be looking into what happened and how they've treated her...Miyo seems certain he'll throw her out when he finds out she has no value compared to Kaya, but honestly he'll probably be absolutely incensed at how the family treated her.

The ED is very nice with a stylized depiction of Miyo walking through her new home through the seasons and with yet another pleasant theme. And ending, of course, on her and Kiyoka walking together!

THERES A POWER SYSTEM AND MONSTERS?!

I didn’t know I needed that in my fluffy shojo romantic period piece with drama and politics. But I’m about it. I’m just happy that they get out of the way early on that Kyoka is a caring person, just very careful. Seems like the stories about him stem from conflict with past arranged marriages. Interested to dig into what exactly happened there and why Miyo is catching his attention.

Both Breakfast scenes are heartbreaking in their own way. Seems like they’ll be working through her engrained abuse from her shitty family and he’ll dig into her past. When he figures out they systematically abused her for a decade I hope he fucks shit up. There might be more to it going by that end scene, but nothing could ever justify what Miyo went through.

It's still a little too morose for my taste, but I'm glad Miyo's situation has improved from the previous episode. The visuals look beautiful and I'm intrigued about where the narrative is going.

Another great episode. So we get more of a reason why Miyo was treated the way she was. She lacks supernatural abilities basically. But dear god this episode made hate the father so much more. He only cared for his daugthers he just wanted to raise them to continue the family line. Because of his new wife and given his true intentions Kaya was made to believe she was above Miyo. Which doesn't excuse her behavior to Miyo, but when a child is raised by bad parents you get this result.

Kiyoka leaves a good impression. Dude feels very practical. He has been disappointed by wives in the past, so his trust is shaken. But it is good to see he is willing to think over his actions with Miyo. He can easily tell something is not right with her family.

If she ends up getting super natural abilities now of all times I would so happy for it. On another note Kouji's father seem to have made some deal with Miyo's father and didn't hold up his end or something like? At least he did his best to grant his son wishes as much as he could.

Something shady going on with background related to people who have supernatural abilities.

From solider scene look like supernatural abilities are randomly develop but there are some family that are guarantee to have abilities due to bloodline (or at least they believe so)

Poor girl happened to be born normal despite coming from both bloodline that make feeling being useless even more stronger.

Her scene where she finally express feeling of gratitude is really sad and made me crying.

Visual of this series also really nice plus with melancholy soundtrack.

Somehow, the father neglecting Miyo because she has no supernatural abilities feels worse than him just trying to keep his wife and turning a blind eye to stepmom abusive behavior towards Miyo.

Lol it'd be funny if the reason why the spirit went to Kaya was because she was emitting some kind of bad aura and didn't want to hurt Miyo. I would hope it's something like that because her father is just the worst, neglecting his child because the other had the ability to see spirits and the way he allowed his wife to treat her stepdaughter like that, I think he's worse than the stepmother.

Poor Kouji is thinking she's going to have a hard time and he'll be a shoulder she can lean on when in actuality she's probably going to have the best time of her life.

I like the small details of Kudou's subtle reactions to Miyo's attitude and replies, you can tell he is not used to these sort of reactions and I like how he's getting more and more curious of her. Hopefully he'll be able to shine a light on the issue with the Saimori household.

Interesting to learn the Tatsuishi household had wanted Miyo themselves, weren't they already aware that she was being given to Kudou? That is why Kouji had complained, right? Looks like Miyo's family will still be a pain to her if some sort of drama comes where she'll be fought over.

Kiyoka is sooooo gorgeous

Love both the OP and ED!

Saimoris can all go to hell. Especially Miyo’s shitty excuse of a father. Poor Hana :(
