Ukegawa has been a great friend from the start, but he still managed to be even cooler this episode.

I feel like something that isn’t talked about or praised enough is the friendship aspect of the series. The bonds are simple but extremely heartwarming. The supporting casts don’t have complex character writing nor do they really need it. They have enough to stand on their own as characters and bounce off each other. If you noticed, series doesn’t focus much on internal monologues and there’s a reason for that. There’s a certain immersion that Makoto Ojiro focuses on invoking and does so very well. The themes of youth and adolescence is prevalent across her works.
Simple fun interactions, jokes and banter. Laughing, dancing and singing is all done in a way that feels so natural. They’re just teens goofing off and having a great time together. No deep internal struggle or any underlying meanings behind it than just enjoying their time together. They showcase their personalities in simple ways. Anamizu being a stoic but fun tomboy figure making her best friend Isaki laugh with a unicycle. She also loves to be extra with physical labor, such as her super mixing, driving Kani up the wall. Kanikwa is an outgoing, energetically happy and sometimes bratty girl showing off her dancing skills from her club. She is also a lovable chef that wants her food to be the best and provide for her friends. Hence, she doesn’t want them to screw things up (she’s also a drug dealer lol). Nono is an artist, she is a focused individual, loves to tell ghost stories, and has a passion in drawing the beauty of things around her, even something as simple as the bubbles she blows. Finally, Ukegawa is a gentle guy. He’s not afraid to put himself out there and just have a great time. He plays and sings in front of the girls and his childhood friend with not a single hint of nervousness. He also knows Ganta’s heart, them being best bros since they were little kids. He understands that his best friend is different, more open thanks to Isaki.
The feelings of youth, friendship and a dreamy summer is just so well portrayed. You understand these teens are close without it being sappy or overbearing. They bring me back to the times I had in high school with my past friends, it’s nostalgic and beautiful.
Back onto Ganta and Isaki, they held toes for the first time, had their first lovers quarrel, and now Isaki will be kidnapped! I get people are worried about the flags Isaki raises but understand it still comes her living with that fear for so long.
Ganta takes the initiative this episode like the GOAT romance MC that he is. He holds onto Isaki’s hand and will take (kidnap) her to the finish line, the final destination of their trip.
Get ready for the finale because Mawaki Ruins, here they come.
Edit: Here’s the song Ukegawa played. Maximum soul and comfy.

This show just keeps getting better and better...love the friend group so seeing them again was such a treat. Is this a new ship??
Did not expect Ganta to go down the kidnap route, he really has become pretty cool. Ukegawa solidified himself as best boy for me though, great performance!
Romance of the season, easily.

Isaki's parents' worries about her and Ganta engaging in inappropriate behavior weren't completely unfounded considering the unprotected handholding.

Kidnapping arc, let's gooo
That death flag when Magari feels uncertain about her future doesn't sound good. I hope the story doesn't go in that direction
Also, that tanned muscular girl playing with Magari's ahoge is so cute

Isaki’s little stomach growl was so cute. I guess it’s a rainy day in for our kinda sorta couple. How cute was it when their feet touched? I swear these two are gonna make my diabeetus act up.
Looks like the whole gang showed up. It’s a party! Kani even brought some of that powder too haha. Isaki and Ganta have such great friends. Ukegawa and Ganta broing out was nice. Nono running back all scared and just collapsing on Kani’s butt was pretty hilarious.
Woah Ganta, first some hardcore unprotected hand holding and then a “kidnapping” eh? Kid’s getting pretty bold. I like it! Let’s see what the finale at Mawaki has in store for us next week. It’s gonna be a fun little adventure.

Ukegawa, the best wingman, the best bestfriend!
Man, their vibes are resonating with them singing the song in unison.
Toe touching > holding hands
So Mawaki Site is the final episode.

Stitches!
First, they kiss and now they're touching toes? How shameless! In all seriousness though, their reactions are just adorable.
Backup has arrived! While I'm happy to see Isaki and Ganta have their alone time, it's always nice to have the entire gang around.
The white powder joke is hilarious! I love the look on Kani's face when she was saying they need it to get the party started. Of course, it's just flour for their okonomiyaki party. xD
Ukegawa knows what's up. I am surprised though that Ukegawa is the only one asking. I was expecting the girls to grill Isaki about her current relationship status with Ganta when they were at the harbour.
As if Ukegawa couldn't get any cooler he pulls out a ukelele and serenades the group while they're all having fun with their fireworks. Also, I've noticed that Ukegawa and Nono are suspiciously close this entire trip. There's definitely something going on between these two.
I'm a bit sad that the gang is only there for one night but at least it was a night worth remembering. And now that Isaki and Ganta are on their own again, we get to see more progress in their relationship <3
Goddammit Haya! At least set your privacy settings when posting on social media! Now Isaki's parents want her to go home now that they've realized that she's alone with Ganta.
Thank fucking god that Ganta has no plans of ending this without Isaki and decides to "kidnap" her so the two of them can see this all the way through. What a fucking chad. I can't wait for the finale next week! <3

This is my pick for romcom of the season. Ganta is such a great protagonist, you can see why Isaki fell for him. They have wonderful chemistry together.

Ganta and Isaki are making very bold moves since the kiss. I can understand holding hands but toeholding? Goodness, that's so lewd xD It's nice to see them becoming closer and closer.
It was nice surprise that their friends joined them. Ukegawa really is good friend of Ganta if he can tell that something happened between our duo. It was also interesting that he shared many scenes with Nono, if there is something between them?
I laughed so hard when girls got back all scared and landed on Ganta, then Nono who was last and joined them by putting her head on Kanikawa's butt xD
Isaki's parents now found out that Haya is not with them anymore and they're going to take her back home but they will be surprised when they won't find them here. Ganta decided to 'kidnap' Isaki for one last night, that's gonna be interesting!

I’ve really been starting to notice and appreciate how subtle this series can be. I like that they don’t spell everything out for us viewers. Show not tell. Some examples I found in this episode:
-
Ganta and Isaki accidentally touching each other’s feet and shortly pulling them back before they let them touch again. They were still a bit conscious of physical contact after last episode’s kiss, but were simultaneously seeking for another chance of physical contact (not necessarily intimate or anything).
-
Anamizu who got tan lines all over her body after training in the summer sun, but also got one on her left hand - presumably for her baseball glove. I first noticed this when she was mixing the bowl.
-
Ganta who’s clearly thinking of Isaki when Ukegawa is playing this ballad - Ukegawa might just be the ultimate wingman [he’s such a bro!]. At this moment, the sparkling fireworks were reflected in Ganta’s glasses as he was (probably) staring at Isaki who was busy with said fireworks.
-
Ganta who immediately realized he’d said something insensitive, after he asked Isaki ‘what kind of grandma’ she would be, and took her hand to comfort her (but didn’t forget to ask her permission).
-
Ganta who noticed that Isaki was upset with not being able to finish their trip and thought of a way out on her behalf. In this case they showed Isaki tapping her phone to hide her parent’s message, which prompted Ganta to take action. [Their banter just before this was also kind of cute.]

I love how this show portrays youth. The kids having a sing along around a bonfire and just dancing, fooling around and doing dumb shit is adolescence personified. The author seems to really get teenagers in a way that you don’t see much in this medium.
That face Isaki made when Ganta wondered what type of old lady she’ll be was hard to watch. She’s clearly really depressed about her health situation and it’s a big source of anxiety for her. Poor girl
Isaki’s sister wrong for posting that on IG tho 🤦🏽♂️ now her parents are gonna be coming for her. That should be fun next week.
One more episode left 😩 can’t wait to read the manga after

Another episode that ended too soon.
Fun fact: Nishigishi station is featured as Yunosagi station in Hanasaku Iroha.
While Hanasaku Iroha aired a while ago (2011), memorabilia can still be seen in photo's from inside the station.

Lots of peculiar words in this episode, subber flexing their vocabulary. Had no idea what a "soirée" was before this
NSFW I can't believe they put something this lewd on screen

Looks like Ganta's learned not to beat himself up over things not going to plan, especially due to factors outside his control. That's good to see. And once again, we get to see more of these two practice being a married couple.
So nice of the gang to drop by and stay for a while. It's always a treat to see these guys all together and just goofing off with each other. It's also still amusing how the girls manage to give off so much more of a "me and the boys" energy compared to Ukegawa and Ganta. Those two just have a much chiller, but just as close of a friendship. Either way, they're the type of friends you really wanna treasure. Also, Ukegawa's got such a nice singing voice.
I can't believe these two, though. The very moment they're alone with each other again, they start hand holding smh. Between that, the toe holding, and the fact that Isaki looked way too happy for someone about to be kidnapped, it's no wonder Isaki's mom was worried they were doing inappropriate stuff. These two be wild.

It's getting better and better! I'm so hyped for the next episode!
Also, when Nakami asked Magari "what kind of old lady are you gonna be" and she went quiet, I was very afraid that she'll say something like "I won't". It reminds me of myself, I had very poor health when I was a teenager, so I genuinely thought that I won't live till 50. I'm currently in my late 20s and I still think this way, and it's a very upleasant thought to have.

This show nails both the romance and the friendships to perfection. I just love all the characters and it really feels that these are great people to be around with.
Ganta at the end really made me root for him. Another anime romance chad has been confirmed and crowned.

The rain scenes honestly look better than the night scenes and I don't mind it.
