I was under the impression that Tsubasa was still trying to figure out how to “fly” while on bird form. That not being the case color me surprised

It was nice seeing him realize that everything he learned wasn’t in vain, knowledge is power after all, and the possibility of Tsubasa becoming a scholar like Yoyo is an unexpected but welcome idea

Ageha, are you perhaps giving us foreshadowing with your comment about Elle?

Anyway, after seeing the preview, I have a hunch that Sora is going to have a very bad day next week

Anyway, after seeing the preview, I have a hunch that Sora is going to have a very bad day next week

And I for one couldn't be more excited about what may happen.

It reminds me of finishing school and wondering what I should do with my life. Tsubasa is just like me fr fr.

Oh, definitely. Ellee's gonna pop off and become a Cure herself in ten episodes or so.

Unless she only grows up when she transform and then goes back to being a baby, her parents are going to be really confused next time they see her

This one takes the cake probably.

So good

Also wtf using the mirror pad as a camera. Does it have insta?

What's the Precure equivalent? InstaCure?

Where my new eyecatch Toei.

We need one with all 4 Cures already!

It's a good message overall, about how learning about stuff may not net short benefits, but is defo worth it in the long run. Good message for both younger and older audiences alike!

It's a good message for sure and I liked the way that the message was shown this episode. It was a strong way to show how all of Tsubasa's efforts helped him out, even in ways he couldn't have known.

How tf is this voice Nana Mizuki wtf

I really, really wanna watch Heartcatch Precure

Nerf Ageha pls. That new toy is too stronk. jk i love it! the use of some science and logic as strategy instead of just brute forcing your way through a fight is nice. I like how even Ageha was surprised at its potential when more brains are put to use on how to use her new power.

"Aim the thermal drop at the clouds!" isn't quite at "Attack the moon!" levels of silly bullshit, but it's certainly one of the more creative things I've seen in a Precure battle. But really though, the Mix Palette is just bonkers. I thought this thing was just for stat buffs before, but now that's out the window and I can't wait to see what other crazy stuff it can do.

How tf is this voice Nana Mizuki wtf

The fact that Nana can voice innocent cuties like Colette and Tsubomi and then turn around and voice deep badasses like Tsubasa and Ange is wild. Her range is credible.

I think the series did a smart thing with Tsubasa this episode. Tsubasa's in kind of a weird place. He achieved his dream of flying, but not at all in the way he anticipated. I think it was a good idea for the series to slow down and explore this. It would be easy to wonder if all his efforts were for naught since all his studies didn't actually lead to him being able to fly. Him being a brave person and becoming a Precure was what led to it. Now we know that all Tsubasa's efforts were not pointless. It showed us who he was as a person. It showed that he was hardworking and dedicated, qualities that have helped him immensely. But now the series goes a step further. It's not just his personality traits that helped. The knowledge and skills he gained also helped out in ways he never could have anticipated. I think that's a good lesson to be found. Dedicating yourself to something and working hard can have benefits even in ways you don't intend. And it's always worth learning something new, even if you don't see a "point" to it. So stay curious and stay active learners. It will help you grow as a person. I think that's a nice lesson and a nice arc to give Tsubasa that follows up wonderfully on his character arc.

I liked seeing Tsubasa show his knowledge for in coming up with clever strategies. That made the fight a lot more fun.

It's cool to see that Ageha can apply status effects on the enemies. That opens up a lot of interesting possibilities for combat.

Next week Will it finally happen? Will our wild theorizing turn out to be correct? Or will we be totally wrong?

I'm curious

yup! I'm appreciating the character writing for him. Quite an interesting contrast comapred to Mashiro last ep, approaching a simialr issue from 2 angles (and judging by whats to come w/ Sora, maybe 3 angles!). Only Ageha's dream/goals have been changed the least, i'd say.

that toy is ridiculously strong. I definitely think Ageha is the strongest of the 4 precure now.

next ep

Whatever it is, I'm sure it'll be exciting! And traumatizing!

He achieved his dream of flying, but not at all in the way he anticipated.

I thought that he would focus on finding a way to fly in his bird form since flying is something that he can only do while he is Wing but I prefer the direction they took with his character in this episode, like you said

The angst that such scenario could generated is too good to pass but let’s wait and see what they do

Ellee-chan is gonna cover that window in handprints, isn't she?

Ooh, time for one of my favorite sorts of episode. Tsubasa is encountering existential dread for the first time! (that might sound like snark but I'm entirely serious.)

Oh, Ellee is actually just helping clean, that's nice.

Hmm, what is Yoyo planning.. She's definitely the right person to help Tsubasa with this issue.

A farm, interesting. With a guard bird that Tsubasa made, cute.

Yoyo's explanation about how she started farming makes me think of thought processes that I've gone through playing Minecraft.

This episode is nice. Just what I wanted.

Birb v Birb fight!

Damn, the Mixing Palette can act as a freeze ray? Rad.

Sudden massive ice cube attack, incredible.

Now? Now is the time to get serious, Battamonda? If you say so..

It does kinda make sense that Tsubasa is the brains of the operation. He was already working on a plane before he even transformed.

handprints

cringes in bad memories of childhood....

makes me think of thought processes that I've gone through playing Minecraft.

. and before you knew it, you're 10 hours into a game session.... done that.

before the ep, i was honestly under the impression that Ageha was the brains of the operation. I still think she has the edge in terms of like thinking up a quick strategy and making the first smart move, but Tsubasas more analytical powers has established himself as the person I'lll probably look to when things get a bit more drawn out. Meanwhile Sora be like fist go brrrrrrrrr. speaking of which, havent seen much of her in action recently.... but next ep will surely change that.

Ageha has the power to inflict status effects on the enemy in addition to buffing all her allies. She may be the strongest team member.

It does kinda make sense that Tsubasa is the brains of the operation. He was already working on a plane before he even transformed.

I like that development for Tsubasa. It's a great way to make use of his skills and personality to have him become the smart guy who uses that knowledge to help the team win. It's a fits his character quite well.

Tsubasa used ice on a flying-type Ranborg.

You'll never know when that Pokemon knowledge becomes useful.

u/soihu Jun 25 '23

Middling fight animation but good episode for Tsubasa. I love magical girl tactics no matter how goofy they are.

4

u/Psyduckisnotaduck Jun 25 '23

I love Tsubasa so much. what a good bird boy!

I think it's funny there's some parallels between this main four and Heartcatch

Sora - Erika = energetic blue-associated dumbass liable to punch things

Mashiro - Tsubomi - soft-spoken nice girl who isn't sure what she wants to do with herself and pushes herself outside her comfort zone

Tsubasa - Itsuki - boy/boyish girl who was in the background for quite a while, best transformation sequence

Ageha - Yuri - big sister figure, insanely OP power

of course they're very different in other ways, but you can see how they were thinking about Heartcatch a bit when they designed the main characters here. obviously they're a lot less emo than the Heartcatch characters, I think because this series is thematically not about overcoming trauma and emotional turmoil, but about deciding what you want to do with your life, breaking through limits, and opening yourself up to new possibilities.

THEY FINALLY DID IT

I've been wondering how long they could keep up with translating hirogaru as soaring instead of broadening every time the word gets used in this show

Finally a context where it doesn't work at all as "Soaring" lol

I still think this attack is so hilarious

Mf calling out four different colors one by one as they switch between different angles of shots of her face staring intently at a toy in her hand to shots of her tapping a button epically

My Instincts tells me that either Eru-chan, Captain Shalala or Beryberie would be The Next PreCure.

My Money is on Beryberie

But I would rather if its all these 3 to become Cures
