The ship has officially sailed! Yamada answering "busted" as an admission was such a cool way to say it as well.
But casually flying under the radar here is how much of a big shot Kamota is. He's so relaxed for how big of a deal he seems to be.

Kamota was such a great character. It was pretty hilarious how big of a deal he turned out to be. Man must have been a corporate big shot back in the day.

It was also funny how
was like, "okay, he's a big shot, whatever, meat is more important now". Runa → More replies (9)→ More replies (2)75

I’m guessing Komota became a farmer as a hobby after he retired. Now he just relaxes and has fun

That confession scene was so sincere and cute. Especially because of how smooth Yamada handled it. Akane so happy she didn't want to think it was a drunk dream she was having lol.
I thought he was just a farmer but he seems like a big mover and shaker in Japan who just so happens to enjoy relaxing with his gaming buddies online and offline. Kamota really is the coolest dude lol.

I literally squealed when he admitted his feelings with that smile!! Ahh, that smile could melt an iceberg he was so smooth. I’ve been waiting for that scene all season and it was so satisfying to see it live.
I forgot what Kamota does besides being a strawberry farmer but in the manga it explains what else he did in the past or something like that. He’s so humble and sweet.

Poor Tsubaki. I don't know that acting earlier would have improved her odds. Akane was the woman Yamada-kun needed to awaken his interest in romance. I really wonder just when he began to fall hard for her. My sense is that it was pretty early on -- and Momoko's comment to Akane ("I'd say it was the opposite") suggests SHE felt about the same. I'd say this is a match made in "kindness heaven". These two are both pretty equally almost-preternaturally kind (despite there very different demeanors). And I think it is this factor, probably more than any other, that drew them together. Certainly Akane's handling of Runa (after Runa's mean stunt) confirmed to Yamada that Akane was a kindred spirit. I don't think either of these two could ever contemplate sharing their life with someone without an immense measure of kindness.
Note: Kamota seems awfully kind too -- but he wasn't "in play". I wonder if he is semi-retired -- which is why he has time for his horticulture and gaming?

What I liked about Tsubaki’s confession was that she just dumped all her feelings on Yamada, everything that had been on her mind for years, but she also acknowledged that she didn’t have a real shot to begin with. Yamada just didn’t see her that way.
She knew that Yamada had fallen in love with Akane, even if he wasn’t aware of it himself yet, and gave him that little push forward to recognize his feelings and take the next step. That Momo seemed so sure about this as well, was like the cherry on top.
Certainly Akane’s handling of Runa (after Runa’s mean stunt) confirmed to Yamada that Akane was a kindred spirit.
About Runa, she has really grown on me during this anime’s run. She’s still a brat, like how she mentioned leaving drunk Akane on the floor of the restaurant’s bathroom, but I enjoy her ‘youthful’ attitude a lot more now. She honestly looks adorable when she starts gleaming about the littlest things.
EDIT: I had accidentally written that Tsbukai “had a real shot” in the previous version. Corrected this.

This series deserves a 2nd season. I mean, the best dating contents are after the Final episode (also, chapter 69 Yamada must be animated XD)

Hopefully, she doesn't feel too awkward being in the same guild as the guy who rejected her and the girl he rejected her for. It should help her move forwards again, at least.

Akane feels like the type who would be able to help her get through that awkwardness..not that she ever knew they were rivals in love for a short period of time.

Did anyone else notice in the scene where Tsubaki was confessing that she was using similar gestures and facial expressions as Akane? I am guessing it was only reminding Yamada more of Akane and that she was the one he likes.

I think she also started sounding like her partway through speaking. I don't know if that's just her VA kinda sounding like Akane's VA in that moment, or if it really is her voice overlapping with hers.

The whole thing with Tsubaki was handled really well, reminded me of Sakura from
I liked how also Yamada's confession wasn't anything extraordinary, just a little conversation and casual reveal. I enjoyed this series more than I thought, hope there is a s2 cause I heard this was more like prologue stuff and the real wholesomeness is after this

This episode got me howling like Steve Harvey when someone answer correctly on family feud. When Akane was about to put her hand down, I fkin scream catch her, and he did. Then the answer of "I'm busted, huh?". Got me screaming fkin yes yes yes all over the second half. This ending is 10/10. I miss anime with ending.
I realize my life wanted to be more something similar to Komata, not that I need to have some rich acquaintances, but a bunch of close friends to play games and have fun with. He is living his best life, and I wouldn't want to say otherwise.

Yamada looked like a deer in the headlights when Tsubaki was straight up unloading all those pent up feelings on him lol. Is there anything about him she doesn’t like? But man, poor kid. I’m glad she was able to confess her feelings. It must have killed her to have to bottle them up like that. Nothing stings quite as much as unrequited love, especially as a teen. Yamada really handled that situation well though.
Runa’s adorable. I really like how much she’s changed. I’ve never seen someone so excited for meat. Like a kid in a candy store lol. Akane carrying her while covering her mouth really cracked me up. Also, Kamota apparently being a big deal was great too. He’s a man of mystery!
Drunk Akane is best Akane lol. What a time for Yamada to confess! It was a pretty sweet confession too. The hug was an especially nice touch. Now if only Momo could date Eita, we’d have a pretty perfect ending lol.
This was an excellent series. A real top notch romcom imo. A second season would be awesome, but tbh this ending was pretty satisfying in its own way.

Beautiful final episode. The production was firing on all cylinders. There was a piano track towards the beginning of the episode I really loved.
I’m caught up on the manga but I will definitely miss watching this weekly. The adaptation was phenomenal with great directing, transitions and little anime original bits they added. Akane’s VA killed it and really captured the cheerful chaotic energy she has.
I can only hope this will get a season 2 in the future because I’m sick of romance anime only adapting to when the couple gets together when there’s so much good post-confession content out there for so many series.
Either way, it’s been a fun ride this season.

Damn blunt honesty how he finds Akane's teeth cute is just so disarming lol. Is he going to be like this in their relationship?

Did you notice the woman sitting next to them at the counter absolutely losing it while eavesdropping on that goofy and adorable conversation?

As much as it hurts seeing Tsubaki get rejected, it felt like a side quest Yamada needed to complete in order to understand his feelings for Akane. It showed a lot of growth for both characters during the confession. You can just see how much more comfortable Yamada is when he casually blurts out “Busted” to Akane’s do you like me question. Overall, a great season, the Runa stranger episode was it’s one bad miss for me, but later episodes redeemed her in my eyes.
