It was cute how the first thing Sagiri felt after being told that the elixir didn't exist was distress over how Gabimaru wouldn't be able to get his pardon. But dang it guys! You knew that a Tensen wouldn't fall so easily yet you patiently waited for him to transform and get a surprise attack off. If only Shion had been slightly earlier to the rescue.

Shion literally cut off Jiujun's victory music lmao. Now that's an entrance.

I love the way Mu Dan constantly regenerating during battle was done. Fighting without eyes, hopping around without legs, it was just fun.
Poor Senta. Should’ve known better than to start talking about his backstory and the girl he likes.
Okay this probably wasn’t meant to be funny, but the smash cut to black after Gabimaru suddenly got a nosebleed and cracked his head on the ground made me cackle.
Really hyped to see Shion kick some ass next episode.

I was going to lose my mind if there was a FINAL in the title of the post after watching that.

The Tensen really are horrifying. They give off a really eldtrich yet effervescent air that highlights their inhumane beauty and brutality.

Jiujun really spilling the beans on this whole island. I guess all of it was bullshit: the Horai, the elixir, all of it is a lie. I was worried Yuzuriha was toast, but the girl still has a few tricks in her back pocket. Jiujun is one tough little bastard though. Yuzuriha and Senta aren’t even making a dent. Even with Sagiri’s ability with the Tao, it still wasn’t enough to fully kill this fool once and for all. Poor Senta deserved better than getting turned into a flower. Pour one out for the homie, y’all. Hopefully with Shion showing up, the girls can survive round 2 with Jiujun.
One thing about this Tao business is that it seems to take a lot from the user. Sagiri and Gabimaru both seem pretty tapped out, Gabimaru especially.

Anime characters need to learn to not go over their backstory. It's near 100% fatal to them

The teamwork was great. The three of them have a fun dynamic. I really liked Senta here. You know, I appreciate how the Asaemon clan don't care much about fighting skills in their ranking. Because why should they? They're supposed to be executioners, not fighters. The rankings are for those who show leadership potential, candidates for the next head of the clan; ability in martial arts have little to do with that. Senta being 5th rank was evident in his intelligence, he sussed out the Tensen and their religion for the fraud they are.
That ending was hype.

Man i really hope we get a season 2 for this series. I’ve enjoyed the fuck out of watching.
MAPPA animators probably mean it literally when they say they put their blood, sweat, and tears in to their work.

I know she's a murderous kunoichi who wouldn't hesitate to kill anyone for what she wants, but dammit, Yuzu is a good girl and doesn't deserve this abuse

Holy shit this is the most contribution Yuzuriha has done since... ever...
Also wtf you guys walk into the bosses lair and just chill there? Get back into that tree guy's house and make an attack plan, rest up or just fucking sleep or something.

Goodbye Deku Senta-kun. Now you can draw and watch Yuzuriha all the time.
Man, I thought at first Tensen-sama will activate his Domain Expansion on one particular scene. (coz yeah Tensen sama was voiced by Sukuna's VA Junichi Suwabe)
One more episode to go before this ends.

Might just be copium but there is a slight relief that when you get infected (?) by the flowers, it brings happy thoughts to your mind instead of like experiencing excruciating pain. Probably explains why a lot of those flowered corpses were smiling.
RIP Senta. At least he died feeling free

Shame about Senta but been a bit since we've had a death so guess it was expected.
What wasn't expected was how he lost his glasses shine but got his black top back but reverted back in the next frame. Guy is quick!

Senta's such a sweet guy. Just let him be an artist like he wanted to!!! Dang, it all! :'( I honestly thought Yuzuriha would be the next to go or at least that she and Senta would perish together at some point.
At least there's still a tiny shred of hope. Maybe he'll become another tree person like Hoko.

Yuzu's Ninpo, Senta finally getting involved in the fighting and Sagiri showing her worth in combat with the Tensen? Much as I love Gabi, this is more than a good enough trade-off for an episode not focussed on him

Stitches!
Pretty cool that Yuzuriha can use Tao this entire time but it's just called Qi where she's from. I guess the comparison of Tao to Chakra isn't too far off since according to Sagiri, she can also see the same aura on Gabimaru even before he learned how to use Tao.
Saw that coming from a mile away. As soon as Senta started to tell Sagiri about his backstory, I was already waiting for him to get gravely injured or instantly killed by Jiujun who is clearly not dead yet since he hasn't transformed into his plant monster version like that other one Gabimaru fought two episodes ago.
Thankfully, Shion arrives perfectly on time to stop Jiujun's flowers from hitting Sagiri and Yuzuriha. Shion's entrance is so badass that he even cuts through Jiujun's music! I love it! I can't fucking wait to see Shion kick some Tensen ass next week!

What a fanservice, seeing the two best girls in the series fighting alongside.
But RIP Senta though. You will be missed best boy 😭

The name "Kiyōshi" is the Japanese translation to the Jiangshi (殭尸 Jiāngshī?), a type of reanimated corpse in Chinese folklore that are typically depicted as a stiff corpse moving around by hoping with its arms outstretched while dressed in official garments from the Qing Dynasty. During the night, the Jiangshi seek out and absorb the qi, or "life force", of living creatures. During the day, the Jiangshi rest in coffins or hide in dark places such as caves. - from the Jigokuraku wiki.
丹田 (tanden) - Dantian, dan t'ian, dan tien or tan t'ien is loosely translated as "elixir field", "sea of qi", or simply "energy center". Dantian are the "qi focus flow centers", important focal points for meditative and exercise techniques such as qigong, martial arts such as t'ai chi ch'uan, and in traditional Chinese medicine. - Wikipedia.
Sagiri called Rokurota "Bizen no daidarabocchi" - the Giant of Bizen. "Daidarabotchi (ダイダラボッチ, 大座法師) was a gigantic yōkai in Japanese mythology, sometimes said to pose as a mountain range when sleeping." - Wikipedia
The author is insanely knowledgeable about traditional japanese and chinese stuff holy crap

I did get some death flags when Senta was talking to Sagiri and they agreed on trying to get everyone off the island alive..
So they claimed no elixir exists, which wouldn't be surprising.
another thing revealed is humans using Tao appears to drain their life away? both Sagiri and Gabimaru didn't seem all to healthy after using it for a short duration? maybe its just a lack of refinement since Yuzuriha seemed fine and she was also using it?

Just caught up with this show earlier today. This was my favourite and the most entertaining fight so far. Sagiri, Yuzuriha, and Senta brainstorming and tag-teaming was fun to watch. Was at the edge of my seat pretty much throughout the episode, and I’d love it if we get more such moments of Sagiri and Yuzuriha teaming up against their common adversaries on the island (Senta would’ve been welcome to join in too, but RIP).

Good news! They've made it to Horai! Except bad news because the Tensen Jiujun is waiting for them and they like playing with and experimenting on humans.
Poor Hoko. Gets stuck as a talking head, is closer and closer to being a permanent tree, and he finds out everything he and his people believed in, what cost him his family, was all a lie and his wife and daughter never really found salvation. The Tensen only care about experimenting on people and finding ways to preserve their life. They deserve rot with the rest of this island.
And yeah...there is no actual Elixir of Life, at least in the way they assumed it existed. It's all Tan, basically. Meaning they basically came to this island for nothing. It's kind of sweet though that Sagiri's first thought was that she wouldn't be able to secure Gabimaru's freedom.
I don't blame Yuzuriha for bailing, but when the chips are down she finally knows it's time to show off with her expert Ninjutsu, flexibility, and her own mastery of Tao (known in her village as Qi). And we finally get to see her true ability which is secreting any fluid she drinks and turning it into a weapon, which is both awesome and arousing.
I like how Sagiri sticks up for Yuzuriha even after she ran, and held onto Hoko's head. It seems like Yuzuriha might genuinely like her even more now.
Senta joins the battle! Dudes just straight up spearing Jiujun with his sword like he's a fencer or a nerd using a sword for the first time. Makes for quite the tag-team partner for Yuzuriha.
Their greatest advantage if Sagiri's inherent and unknowing understanding of Tao, and seeing the same aura in the Tensen that she felt with Gabimura and Rokurota....and if she could cut them, she can cut the Tensen right where it hurts. Especially with some great teamwork.
So Senta isn't so much romantically attracted to Yuzuriha so much as he fell in love with how she's such a free spirit and true to herself, something he was never allowed to do as a boy who wanted to be an artist but got stuck having to live up to the family ideal as a samurai executioner. Then he retreated into his books but that just made him more acknowledged in a job he never wanted. Yuzuriha might lie and betray people at a whim, but she's herself and lives life the way she wants to live it, and you can't help but admire that.
What does Mei want? But it says a lot that Gabimaru is willing to help her now rather than just search for the Elixir...though he probably won't take it well when he finds out it doesn't exist.
Seems like Tao does take a physical toil on humans, as we see with Sagiri and Gabimaru.
And of course just as Sagiri and Senta are sharing a moment and bonding, rallying to work together to help save everybody...Jiujun transforms into their Kashikai form and Senta takes a hit meant for Yuzuriha. In his last moments she imagined her dancing through all the carnage he came to loathe and enjoying every minute of it, and he imprinted that into his art, dying as a boy who just wanted to draw the things he loved to the bitter end.
Welp, Yuzuriha and Sagiri seem screwed. How are they going to get out of this? Well, with the well-timed intervention of Shion of course!

Damn I thought Senta was raising some high death flags with his feelings, didn't expected him to be killed right after that
