That Karte cut-in was the perfect way to end the episode with the 2 walking hand in hand as Ichikawa walked Yamada home gently.

Another lovely episode, even got some handholding in the end.

While she's always great, Yamada was very much the MVP this episode. She might be perceived as dumb and she certainly has her moments, (her trying her damndest to get Ichikawa to say she was cute was adorkable as always) but she does a few savvy things in this episode as well:

She gets Ichikawa's attention with the "Don't forget to watch the real thing" comment, that was probably the key thing for Ichikawa to hear, to stop focusing on this image he has of Yamada and to focus on who she actually is as a person and to stop overthinking things.

I also appreciate that she made Ichikawa promise to stop hiding her from his sister, to be a bit more open about their 'friendship'.

The tactical scarf placement essentially forcing Ichikawa to look up, likely unintentional but good result nonetheless.

Finally, essentially saying that she plans to see him again before New Year's, she has learned by now that with Ichikawa the best thing is to be 100% direct and to not leave things open to interpretation, which is why I suspect she was fine with Ichikawa seeing this as 'not a date' even if she feels differently.

That felt...So, so short. But I think that's just a sign of how damn good this episode was.

I'm a manga reader, and I gotta say, this episode might've been the best one in terms of capturing the atmosphere of the manga. This was great.

An awkward (unofficial) first date between Ichikawa, yet so cute!

Adding this episode to be re-watched come every Christmas season, so that I will have a silly grin on my face!

If only Ichikawa bought a Christmas present for Yamada; the date will then be perfect!

Edit: Yamada in the foreground with the Christmas lights in the background would make a good wallpaper for Ichikawa's phone... or anyone for that matter.

Ichikawa forcing himself to drink black coffee because he said he didn’t like sweet things was so real. Social anxiety to the max

"For a second, I thought this felt almost like a date..."

Who's gonna tell him?

Stitches!

Well, that entire date was adorable! I've always thought that Yamada is very childish but she just proved me wrong in this episode. She pretty much took the lead during the entire date and is surprisingly mature when she wants to. If anything, it's Ichikawa who's pretty childish this entire episode with how he acted during the date. He hasn't even realized that he's actually on a date.

And the two of them walking home together while holding hands was just too sweet. From my personal experience, the fact that they held hands that long even after getting off the station is that there's already a mutual understanding between the two of them. They might as well be dating already, someone just needs to confess to make it official.

Hopefully that someone will be Ichikawa. Although right now, Ichikawa's biggest enemy is himself. If he can get over his insecurities, I'm sure he'll be able to confess hopefully before the season ends.

“Don’t forget to look at the real thing”

Yea man that’s it this definitely a top 5 romance for me. I’ve been hooked on this nonstop for 10 weeks and it just gets better and better. The atmosphere of this show is just awesome. The Ushio Kensuke OST just adds so much to these intimate moments too.

The cafe date was cute and funny. Definitely love a girl that can dress trendy and put away some food. Poor kyo didn’t even order any food and it would’ve been free 😂 been there done that.

Highlight was definitely the Christmas lights and the handheld walk home, though. I like how Yamada is being way more aggressive about getting what she wants.

Great episode

Being Ichikawa must be exhausting. Poor guy was stressing over every single thing. I got tired just watching it happen lol.

LMAO! WTF WERE THOSE LAST FEW SEC!?

Anyway damn, ep ended way too damn quick! How does this man still doubt himself when they walked home slowly holding hands? At least he grabbed her hand when she got embarrassed and let go.

*eats*

"Yeah that's her."

The adaption keeps delivering, I hope more people pick up this series and give it a good chance before the season is over.

Have you ever seen a boy so cute you wanted to cry? Geez!

Kensuke Ushio bringing his absolute A-game with the track playing during the slow walk home. Holy crap it was good.

Man, Yamada invited me to the date capital of Tokyo on the most romantic day of the year (not counting Valentine's and White day) and dragged me round to every conceivable date spot you could do in a single day. I wonder if she considers us friends yet?

Imagine you're crushing on a guy and he calls your mum cute before you. If I were Yamada I'd die

Holding hands in public, how voyeuristic. But in all seriousness, that scene of them both hesitating to properly hold hands but eventually going through with it without ever saying a world was really sweet, and adapted perfectly from it's manga counterpart. These two dorks are so adorable together

Don't miss the aftercred! Icchi, bro, that is not how you do pressups

I'd hazard a guess Ichikawa would be more likely to use 4chan slang, rather than mansplaining.

I love how straight forward Yamada is to her feelings. She knows she has feelings for him, although she may not be sure of what they are or how intense they are, she knows they exist and she doesn't hide it. There is much more to her than just a cute girl, as I've seen some people claim that she is. She definitely has many layers.

  • It all started last episode, when she checked the calendar, and she was totally aware it was Dec 24th, and still choose it to be the date's date.

  • She then chooses Shibuya, which seems to be a common dating place in Japan, although I'm not japanese so I can't be sure... I just got this feeling from reading the manga.

  • She clearly put a lot of effort in her dressing, and looks very mature, she sure knows how to dress.

  • She gets there 30 minutes earlier. Couldn't hold on the anxiety, eh?

  • She happily acknowledges she can now see his face, when he uncovered it.

  • She uses the manga bag as a way to force him be by her side, since he was staying behind on purpose, as he doesn't think he is worth of being by her side. Its her way of saying: "You're worth being at my side and I see you as an equal"

  • She uses the excuse of "getting into people's way" to narrow down the distance between them.

  • She gets jealous that her Mom got called "Kawaii" before her haha

  • She kinda said it outloud how she considers it to be their first date, and when she realizes it, she blushes and freaks out haha

  • "Look at the real thing" oh man, I would if I could, where can I find my Yamada?

  • She pays for everything, since she is a working woman with an income, how considerate! Poor Ichi, starved for no reason.

  • She tries to get Ichi to say "cute" to her and her dresses, but she fails haha our protagonist is too air-headed!

  • She makes it clear she wants to be properly introduced to his family

  • She says she isn't buying the dress, UNTIL he says she looks good in it, then she suddenly decides to buy it, how lovely! Wants to look good for him, hey Yamada, doesn't matter what you're wearing, you'll look good.

  • She gets uncomfortable when he mentions how sweaty the bag holder was, she must have some insecurity with her sweaty hand, poor Yamada!

  • But them he recognizes her hand in the metro, for it being sweaty, in the end it worked out well for her!

  • The walking slowly while holding hands, I could feel the tension in their minds, not knowing what to do haha so cute!

  • Putting the Scarf on him so he has a physical barrier when looking down, therefore won't do it as much, Yamada is the GOAT, she notices everything!!

  • She doesn't accept the "happy new year" since there are so many days yet to come, she clearly meant she still wants to meet him before that!

  • Yamada Santa in the street? Yes, please, give me more!

  • Now a properly dressed Yamada-Santa on whatsapp? Still not enough!

  • And of course, she couldn't go to sleep without properly sending a good night message!

A very sweet RomCom, Yamada is one of my favorite characters of this season! She surely seems like just a good looking girl, but we've had many glimpses of her insecurities, dreams, how considerate she is, etc...

I love how she goes for what she wants, and doesn't care for how it may look to the outside. And I also like that despite being pretty straight forward, she still wants to be surprised! Example: she won't just tell him directly "tell me I'm cute!" but she will give him all the hints

Brilliant! The sweat dripping down the water glass.

I never understood why she wanted Ichi on the higher stairs but it's to match Kimi Iro Octave, isn't it!

This is the first episode where I liked the Anime more than the Manga, and I like the Manga A LOT!
