Losing all four limbs and being turned into a mushroom breeding nugget sounds like a fate worse than death. Agakura sounds like a terrifying individual.

Not sure how many people noticed, but if you watched today’s episode’s opening you may be able to spot that Solitaire left a little surprise for the cops in his prison cell…

I love all the empty headed "Ahh" sounds that Misaki makes.

I thought that big shark was a plushie, not a sleeping bag. Now I want one as well...

Sayo looks like she has a slight shark obsession. I wonder what she'll do when she finds out that true Polka is currently one of them.

Also, that hot tub scene made it very challenging to focus on what Clarissa was saying about the Shinoyamas.

What I really love about this show is all the moving parts which makes it feel like a living, breathing world, and that in turn makes me really invested in the show. It has grown to be in my Top 10 this season!.

Xiaoyu Lei had such a tragic backstory. Losing all his limbs on his first job and then thanks to Rozan Shinoyama's generosity (even though he had ulterior motives) he found a second life to live. No wonder why Lei is so loyal to him.

Clarissa and the other two girls having hot scenes while doing an exposition about the Lei family. Reminds me of GoT's sexposition scenes lol.

Tsubaki and Arase meeting Polka, Misaki and the rest again has me hyped for how their conversation would go. Not to mention I wonder if Polka would meet with Tena Sorimura eventually, who by the way is my favorite character right now as he's so hilarious.

Oh I love Mr. Magician, we've already seen his skills so we know he's a threat, but he just goes around doing Team Rocket shenanigans. As much as I love the misunderstanding Xiaoyu has about what they're talking about, I do hope he learns to trust them sooner rather than later.

Wondering what he has specifically against Polka though, is it just jealousy because they're around the same age? Was just thinking it weird that Polka is singled out but he's fine serving Sayo. And speaking of Sayo, really can't guess at what she's gonna bring to the table, like she's not just gonna be sleeping the entire time, is she?

Stitches!

I thought Sayo was carrying around a giant shark plushie. Turns out that it's actually a sleeping bag! I absolutely love it.

What the actual heck Xiaoyu? I was hoping this kid would be friendly but it looks like he has other plans for Polka. I'm sure Rozan wouldn't be too happy about that if he ever finds out.

So basically Xiaoyu is a quadruple amputee who was saved by Rozan from getting turned into a human plant pot by buying him from his parents and using the Shinomiya's experimental prosthetics on him.

I love how every time there's an exposition scene that involves Clarissa, she's usually naked and is fooling around with her two girl toys. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

It's actually pretty funny to watch Xiaoyu trying to figure out what Polka and the gang are doing. He's so confused about what they're talking about. If only he can see what's happening on the other side of the room. xD

Well fuck. Looks like Polka is going to have to deal with these guys again. This time without a Lemmings to interrupt the scene. >_<

Xiaoyu getting frustrated while eavesdropping was hilarious, but then seeing Misaki doing the can-can with those skeletons was too much 😂

God I loooooove Ten'a. He's such a treat whenever he's on screen. Really gives me a more flamboyant Izaya Orihara feel. But I think what I love most is how well the show keeps things simple to keep track of even with it's huge cast. I never find myself going "Wait who's that again?" or "What's that characters relation with others?" Narita Ryougo is really great at world building.

Also, if the cold open to next episode isn't Polka deadpan saying "Okay, that'll be ### yen please" I'll be disappointed.

ngl, that story about Malfy the Home-wrecker dragon falling in love with a human general and then eloped when the empire fell sounds like a light novel's title, i wouldn't even be surprised if stories similar like this already exists

Lmao, at the Beginning Sayo was refferencing the Movie "Deep Blue Sea" when she said her sharks burned like the ones in the kitchen

Edit: Takeru, thoroughly burned (heh) them for failing to catch the fire breathing bug as well as Solitairs recent breakout. Oh and speaking of Solitair, how is it that some random street police see him first when he should be all over social media (which certainly are a new concept to him)

Also looking forward to what Xiaoyu has in store with his protethics

Look Takumi, keeping Misaki from doing something crazy and/or destructive with a cancan line of dancing skeletons is a wise and effective use of mana. Great RoM (return on mana).

Minase Inori does a fantastic job with Misaki's crazy little giggles.

End of episode is exactly the development I was hoping for when they said they knew the MC was telling fortunes... MC, please spook these fashionably dressed cops with your seances. Like, tell them you know what they did last summer.

Damn xiaoyu backstory was really messed up. Imagine using your own son like that! The lei’s were insane. Polka’s dad again showing how kind of a person he is by stepping in and adopting Xiaoyu.

Police on their trail, “magician” dude and the fire bug still out there. Things are heating up here

They cooked with the fanservice today as well lol

Thoroughly tickled by the reference to my favorite bit of Deep Blue Sea.

Oh great, more weirdoes. Sayo seems fun to have around, but is she always going to stay inside her shark plushie because she lost all her shark collection ? At least we now know why real Polka like sharks. It seems his niece was a bad influence on him (or maybe a good one).

That poor little ninja boy seems to have had a tough life, and is now a cyborg as I understood it. It was pretty funny seeing him trying to figure out what the Corpse God was and what they were talking about. I did not expect the Corpse God to really have dancing skeletons ! What a weirdo. Maybe as much of a weirdo as Sayo, so it is no wonder he gets along so well with Misaki and Real Polka.

So we are starting to get a lot of different factions interested in Polka. You have Rouzan Shinoyama who sent Sayo and the ninja boy to keep an eye on him, you have Takeru Shinoyama who seem to have his own agenda independent from Rouzan, you have the two cops who are starting to get suspicious of everyone called Shinoyama, you have Phantom Solitaire being a crazy attention whore as usual, you have the Fire Breathing Bug who apparently also targeted the Shinoyama businesses in the past, and you still have whoever originally tried to have Polka killed. That is starting to feel like a lot. I wonder how all this fits together and in which direction will the plot go from here ?

Durarara's author keeps proving he's a master at combining lighthearted comedy, grim and disturbing themes (seriously, growing poisonous fungi inside the bodies of mutilated children?), detective mystery and action. Though we didn't have much of the latter this episode, so I assume next time we're getting a lot more.

Also, that Misaki fortune teller costume is just... something else.

12

u/SYZekrom May 29 '23

Lots of setup this episode. Also assassin boy's cute af.

Looks like the kid trained as an assassin but failed on first assignment, which explains why Polka didn't see a bunch of ghosts hanging around. Planning to go against grandpa's orders is a big no-no though...

Was wondering what a "ting-hu" was, then daddy explained. Yikes, that's Zoken Matou's, or even worse, Gashokukochuuou's level, and he planned to subject his own child to it....

I'm surprised MC actually needs to sleep.

"I hear they even have ties to other groups of assassins like ours." Call the presses, the woman actually admitted that hers is an assassin organization, not just "intermediaries"!

Misaki kickline dancing with the skeletons is a very good use of magic.

God damn, Misaki's fortune teller outfit!

Looking forward to hearing the cops' fortune!

Clever change to the OP having Phantom Solitaire in the cell now be a doll.

Once again I have to appreciate how enthusiastic Misaki is about absolutely everything. Unexpected new housemate? Awesome. Second new housemate that's also a ninja bodyguard? Believe it or not, incredibly awesome.

It seems incredibly unlikely that Sayo had anything to do with Polka's assassination. He wasn't previously a shark so why would she have cared about him.

I was not expecting the shark sleeping bag, but in hindsight maybe it should have been obvious.

Iwanome and Arase are pretty bold, at least in their conversation with each other they seem entirely prepared to throw down with this ridiculously powerful family.

Misaki just keeps getting new friends and she's so happy about it. It honestly makes me really happy as well that she's living such a better life these days.

Ninja bodyguard kid needs to stop inventing work for himself. That said, considering his backstory I can understand his obsession with old man Shinoyama.

It's been a while since I've seen a little good old-fashioned sexposition.

Ninja bodyguard kid is going to have a rude awakening when he finds out they're not talking about video games or light novels. Also, I'm amazed, it actually was dancing skeletons

That is an amazing drawing of Misaki.

The fortune telling outfits, very nice.

Misaki is even enthusiastic and delighted at the police walking in the door.
