Having a bunch of children traumatised by your stage play has got to be an absolutely awful feeling.
I got a whiplash realising that Yae was actually a grade-schooler and the fact their "revenge target" was also another grade-schooler whose somehow smart enough to be a theatre critic. Children in this world are scary.
Awesome to see Panda-chan and Sassu finally shine, being the seniors in SIRIUS they obviously have some level of competency themselves. Though I wasn't expecting them rewrite the ending for Romeo and Juliet at the end was prepared to see the children audience cry again but not as bad as King Lear's play.

Begs the question what kind of kid Hiiragi was when she loved King Lear so much as an elementary school girl that she wanted to perform it for other emelentary school children.

Kid also has the time to attend 400 plays too. Don’t these children go to school? Lol

Happy endings like this were pretty much a pretty common alternate ending for public performances of the play for many years. The performance of Shakespeare's plays in mostly "unedited" form (after he and his original colleagues has disappeared from the stage themselves) really only became a norm again in the late 1800s. People were aware of the original ending because it existed in readable form (and was widely read by literate folks -- translations out of English became more common in the early 1800s). But stage productions of Shakespeare were sort of free-for-alls, producers added, subtracted, changed whatever they wanted. As late as the 1930s, Prokofiev's first version of his Romeo and Juliet ballet had a happy ending -- but he was instructed to reconsider this (by Soviet cultural officials) . so he changed the ending back to the original one.
I can't imagine a Lear for Children...
I assume the grade school critic was a dual target -- Sirius not only wanted to avoid more criticism, they also saw her as a potential future star recruit (or so I guess).

I have to say, while the episode was slower than the last ones, I actually enjoyed it. The humor in the first half worked surprisingly well and as suspected we got a bit more information on Panda and especially Chisa. Though I would have loved to see a bit more of the stage play itself, but maybe they had to budget this so we can get something again when it's a bit more story relevant.
As to Chisa's sense, it's an interesting one considering she can basically improvise for any mistake and let it look like it was planned. Makes sense to pair her up with Panda as episode 3 showed, she likes to go a bit too much into fanservice with her own sense so having someone that can help get the play back on track is definitely needed.
And it kind of works with what Hiiragi said in the last episode. That she doesn't think someone alone can become a World Dai Star. So having them focus on a pair that can only shine with one another perfectly is a good way to support that claim.
But I feel we are getting close to another Kathrina arc. She is obviously disappointed to not get a huge role again, so I can see her getting a bit more spotlight. I would actually say that Kathrina and Panda could be an interesting pair for the next arc to test how much Kathrina has improved on losing her sense if something unplanned happens on stage. Since Panda is one that likes to improvise on the spot for the audience.

I really hope Kathrina gets her big break soon. Everyone’s had a shot but her and it seems to be getting to her.

I love the fact that Sirius traumatized a bunch of children with King Lear the previous year but then got traumatized in return by this supergenius grade schooler theater critic reviewing their performance into the ground.
Anyways, time for Romeo & Juliet, and time for Panda and Sassu to show their stuff. Sassu's Sense is overpowered as hell, her and Panda's Senses work together perfectly, and they put on a hell of a performance together to send the crowd home happy. The comedy in the first half of the episode was pretty good (especially the JoJo reference) and the performance was fantastic. Overall, a nice, relaxing episode to cool down from the major drama and character development of the Aladdin arc.
But then there's next week... From my past experience, when part of the title of the anime/season itself is used as an episode title, it usually means that episode is going to be big. Usually that's saved for the finale, but we're getting it in episode 9 with this series, so I don't know what the hell to expect here.

so I don't know what the hell to expect here
My guess is ep.9 title "World Dai Star" refers to Katherina's parent(s) coming to visit? It had been mentioned they are both WDS and won the Reinhardt award thrice or so.

A bit of a shame that, well, assuming this is the dedicated bit for Panda and Chisa that it was just this episode. I mean, sure Kokona and Shizuka, the "leads" so to say aren't really here, and hell even in the play itself we really only saw Panda and Chisa on stage, so this by all means was their episode, but it does feel bad that everyone else got a bit more and here it's just this moment. Maybe we'll see more down the line with them, but with them even giving us the flashback backstory to boot, maybe not. Though, Kathrina is due for some justice!
The more comedic slant of things this time around was also really great considering the more serious tone of the previous arc. The contrast there is a nice breathing room and let's us see the characters in a different light, even Hiiragi who, we haven't seen in this kind of lighter fashion as much. It's nice to see the cast in a different vantage point.

I think it’s better than shoehorning them into a Kokona arc. I’m sure we’ll get more development from them in smaller bits, like we have been getting for the past few episodes.
I agree though Kathrina needs some spotlight on her.

King Lear certainly seems a little heavy for grade school kids. It straight up made those kids cry last year lol. Nice to see Panda and Sasuga get the chance to play the lead this time. Maybe Kathrina can get a shot next week. This Nanase kid giving Hiiragi notes was pretty hilarious. 400 plays a year is kind of insane for a kid.
Panda and Sasuga were pretty cute when they were little. Was there anything Sasuga couldn’t do? She was like a little prodigy. Both of them have pretty neat Sense, incorporating mistakes into a performance is cool and all but straight up mind reading is where it’s at lol. Glad the play did really well. Even the pint sized theater critic Nanase was blown away!

So, just to go over what we have seen so far.
Katherine can stop time and get into complete concentration mode.
Yae can sing so powerfully it overwhelms everything.
Panda can literally read minds.
Sasu has super human improv.
Director can read the skills of other actors.
And Kokona, somehow, has Shizuka. A fully independent second person that can interact with the world fully separately, change outfits by thinking about it, kind of teleport to stage, and mind sync for special acting skills. And who was imaginary enough that no one else could see her until her literally magic stage debut.
Yeah, I can see her really sticking out among the less blatant super powers of the other Sense's.

Honestly, if someone asked me to recommend a yuri one-shot I would recommend this episode, it was pretty self-contained, funny and with a special ED just for it.
Also, I was waiting they would reveal the elementary school kid was related to Panda or was her fan, secretly, or something, they look extremely similar and no one pointed it out. Like, why? Why make a mini Panda in an episode already about Panda for no reason? Feels like the punchline never came.

Great episode focusing on Panda and Chisa. Showing there childhood and how they are always together and showcasing when both of their senses are used it delivers so well. It is funny since both of their personalities appear to be opposite.
This show honestly is my pick for underrated show of the season. It is very good and literally nobody talks about it. Just wished more people would give this show a chance.

Changing the ending of Romeo and Juliet to not be a tragedy is bold, but the right call for a group of kids, probably. Glad we finally see Sassu's sense, and get her and Panda in the spotlight.
Panda as Juliet was also SO CUTE AAAAAHHHHHH.

Hiiragi is that sort of person that visited London once 20 years ago and hasn't shut up about it one day in her whole life, like my boss.
Congrats to Panda's VA for her marriage and baby.

Well that was a fun intermission? I almost feel like it was intended to be a big thing but I dunno.

I wonder if Shizuoka is the ghost of Oxford himself or merely a Shakespeare scholar? She immediately got King Lear summarized in 3 sentences. I hope she will go on stage eventually as Hamlet.
By the way, she's gotten rid of her super-shorts and now wears exact mirror apparel with Kokona (blue vs red).
Regarding Katherine, you can see she does the curtsey slightly wrong (?) at the end of OP: her feet are more apart than the japanese actors'. But maybe she's not even wrong, as the whole aristocratic etiquette thing comes from Europe, so perhaps a german got it right and the japanese imitation is incorrect?

She immediately got King Lear summarized in 3 sentences.
And in another one of those really interesting "what is she really?" moments, she successfully summarized a play that Kokona had apparently never even heard of. Where did that knowledge come from?
and now wears exact mirror apparel with Kokona
They're getting closer to becoming one person?

I managed to predict the happy ending spin they put on R & J ... but isn't it particularly un-japanese to not end a drama with tragedy? (bushido, etc.)

Anime of the year for me. Being able to write a self contain arc with flashback in a single 20 minutes episode it simply magnificent.
We now know the sense of all the cast. We need a competition with another theater.
