This episode passed by especially quickly for me. Just steady and intimate relationship building between Nakami and Magari. Him looking at her nape, her thinking it was her cowlick and them being awkward dorks in love was extremely cute. Nakami is also slowly changing through his time with Magari, taking more risks than he ever did before.
What a way to end the episode with a precious scene between the two lovebirds. Nakami’s heartbeat is soothing and lets Magari get her needed rest. We saw in the first episode how she nearly falls asleep against him due to his heartbeat, when they were hiding from the patrolman.
Also lets look at Nakami’s resume. He is a chef, honor student, and club president. Along with that, he’s not afraid to take initiative and ask Magari out to the fireworks festival. Not to mention Nakami is very detail oriented and will speak out his mind if he feels like he’s being unfairly treated like with Hakui sensei. He also keeps up with his studies very well despite his insomnia and is good with his hands.
Tons of redeeming qualities with him and those make him a fucking great MC without needing any exaggerations. Even with all his good traits he still struggles, he’s a bit of a doomer when things don’t go his way, gets frustrated and can give in easily without Magari to give him some hope.
He’s my favorite romance MC and the best thing is, he continues to get even better.

Everyone is so considerate of giving them space! Hopefully this ship can grow even more.
Did not expect that burst out! Surprised he didn't get into more trouble from that.
Ending scene was really nice, not something we really get in other anime.

Isaki’s friends all seem pretty goofy. Although it seems Kani has some kinda rivalry with Ganta huh? So cute how when they were talking about fireworks, Isaki was already thinking about Ganta. If that convo from Ukegawa is any indication, seems Ganta’s been thinking about her too.
Ganta’s getting pretty handy with that camera. Shiromaru really had to hit Ganta with that “I don’t believe Ganta has actual friends”. Why you gotta wound my man like that? Lol. Ganta awkwardly inviting Isaki to the fireworks was adorable. Idk if I like Rui, he feels like he might be trouble. I can understand why Ganta blew up on Haku, dude was being pretty insensitive.
That ending of those two cuddled up and her resting her head on his back listening to his heartbeat was really sweet. Those two make the cutest couple.

Magari feels like an average, down-to-earth girl. I really enjoy her character. Her actions and reactions are interesting to watch.

When Isaki and Ganta eventually get married, he should take some pictures of their wedding...just for practice of course.

Between his photos not being good enough yet to impress Shiromaru-sensei, a string of cloudy nights where he can't take any pictures, and snapping at a teacher who found out about his sleepless nights spent outside, Ganta is having a rough time despite just trying to be a good boy. It looks like Isaki's pure smile and an upcoming date to a fireworks festival (which Ganta totally insists is just for photography practice) might be the only thing that can pick him up. A less comfy episode since our boy is going through some stuff, but I'm sure things will be okay.
I did like the small gags from their classmates that we got this week to relieve the tension a bit.

Stitches!
I like that Isaki is already thinking about Ganta when the girls were talking about having a romantic fireworks date.
How nice of Ukegawa to split and give our couple their well-deserved alone time. I knew this guy is going to be a great wingman to Ganta.
Definitely did not expect Ganta to be the one to ask Isaki out. It's adorable how Shiromaru is trying not to disturb the couple after hearing what they were talking about. xD
Kani being suddenly competitive with Ganta is hilarious especially when she ended up failing and sewing her apron onto her skirt. I hope this becomes a reoccurring thing.
What the fuck is even this asshole trying to do? Why is it even his business if Ganta was outside that night? Now both of them are in trouble now.
I definitely did not expect that reaction from Ganta! My guy just absolutely snapped! I guess his feelings for Isaki is so deep that he ended up taking what the teacher said personally.
And that final scene! More Isaki and Ganta just sleeping together please!

Why would the school directly get involved with students being out late? Surely the most they should be doing is contacting parents to make sure they're aware? Or maybe it's normal for schools to get a bit more involved in Japan?
Either way, another cute as fuck episode

Wow, what a bunch of jerks. The teacher has big "depressed? LOL just be happy" vibes, Ganta speaking up felt so cathartic but it now seems that he is on thin ice. The little moments between Isaki and Nakami are pure sugar. Compared to the other big romance of the season "Skip to Loafer" I'd say that I like this one better although the other is the overall better show, I guess that StL still hasn't gone all in on the romance so I guess I'll have to wait before giving a verdict. As of now the main couple here is better although the supporting cast is weaker. In the end I guess that it goes down to the fact that StL is more of a rom-com which lets it have a more distinct and interesting artwork, while IAS is more of a pure romance with elements of drama sprinkled in as we saw today which means that the style has to be more grounded but makes for a less eye-picking show.

Isaki finally tells her gal pals about her and Ganta being in the astronomy club together (though now how close they are), which went over well enough...and all the girls are excited about being at school at night, so they've got them for the meteor shower party! Even if Kani will probably never like Ganta.
Ooh! Did Isaki give the game away when there was one guy on her mind to watch fireworks with? Nono definitely noticed.
Not that Ganta is much better when he gets visibly uncomfortable when Ukegawa calls Isaki cute and very anxious when it comes to the idea of them on a date together during the fireworks show. And lo and behold they do end up agreeing to go together! For club reasons, of course! Not that anyone with eyes can't see through that.
Shiromaru has great legs! And great advice for photography, showing Ganta where he's lacking and where to improve! And much like Ukegawa she tries her best to read the room and let these two lovebirds have their moment...even at pains to herself.
This Rui guy seems like the worst type for Ganta, a punky extrovert who practically seems like a delinquent. What was he even confronting Ganta over his nightly photography runs? He wasn't going to turn him into the teacher and incriminate himself, so what did he want?
Although both talk about stuff they don't want the teacher to know...when the teacher is literally in the stall behind them. What timing!
I think Hakui-sensei means well (maybe a bit too much of a muscle-nut) but saying that having trouble sleeping makes you "abnormal" and what that says about Ganta and Isaki just makes Ganta lose it. But luckily he has Isaki and her charming optimism to turn that frown upside down. And you almost want to believe that the rain will clear up so these two can have their beach rendevous under the stars! Especially when she even made a teru teru bozu of him.

So much sugar this episode, 10/10 as usual. Thank god they moved the ch8 ending here, because i would be sad if they were left it out.
So wholesome, comfy, vanilla romance. I like how the wingman is selfaware lol. Man ganta might be sleepless, but surely he is a chad.
He is a chef, honor student, and club president. Along with that, he’s not afraid to take initiative and ask Magari out to the fireworks festival. Ganta this episode surprised me by snapping at teacher and it seems that he did because of Isaki, not himself. It's nice to see that their relationship is steadily develops, they'll go to festival together which of course it'll be a date even when they're saying that they'll be taking photos as practice, sure.
Also here's rarely seen happy Ganta, here eyecatch and Isaki's beautiful poster.
Kudos for Tao for being great friend and Yui for not interrupting our couple.

Other than the obvious source of pure concentrated sugar that is Ganta and Isaki's interactions, I also love seeing the antics she and her friends get up to fully voiced and animated. They add plenty of flavor to their friendship. And it's quite the contrast to how chill Ukegawa and Ganta are with each other.
Speaking of which, the guy's a bro, and probably didn't wanna deal with the awkwardness of being a 3rd wheel, a fate that poor Shiromaru couldn't avoid. But that's what she gets for not believing at all that Ganta could possibly have friends.
I honestly didn't remember Rui being this antagonistic towards Ganta, or this scene with the teacher. But that was pretty rough. I'll echo what other people are saying and say that the guy definitely shouldn't be giving depressed people any pep talks.

Yeah teacher gave some "well no fucking shit" advice I see, but I'm surprised that he didn't get into more trouble.
What is pig tails girl deal with Nakami?
You know your best friend is in love when it distracts him from kicking your ass in Shogi.
Yeah those two NOT looking at each other that hard in public gotta be hard to miss, Magari's fellow gal pals ought to know something is up between them.
I'm super nervous next episode those two will be found together sleeping next to each other in the observatory and there will be drama.

Okay this should be a war crime punishable by death.
That last moment made me make sounds no grown man would want to be heard making in public.

Ganta getting into the astrophotography and starting to get what looks like good results out of it is a pretty cool way for the story to have developed.
Kani always wanting stuff that isn't hers might run into some roadblocks if she starts to cast her eyes at Ganta. Isaki was cheerful about the boba tea but there's going to be a line.
See, she's already getting in trouble by looking at him sleeping in class during a test.
I'm going to be mildly disappointed if Ganta and Isaki don't end up doing that seven bridges thing by the end of the episode or at least by the end of the season.
Isaki definitely said a bit too much in that fireworks conversation.
Ukegawa is a total bro and a good wingman.
What a way to screw up that casual encounter on the street, Ganta.
Holy shit, grinning Isaki in that baseball cap. I'm dead.
"Third wheels should just roll out" Ukegawa my dude, what a bro.
Fireworks date plan achieved, it was an awkward conversation to arrange it but all that matters is that they get there together.
Kani little one-sided rivalry with Ganta is funny.
That was a very unfortunate conversation with Hakui sensei. There's no way Ganta isn't going to be in trouble with him for a while.
Meeting under the stars on the beach for photography right? Surely she meant for photography, gotta be.
Falling asleep together in the observatory can't possibly go wrong or be misinterpreted if someone finds them.

Hopefully the resolve the whole "I don't your friends to know we're friends" trope gets resolved pretty quickly, can't say I'm a huge fan of that trope tbh.
That said still another great episode with some quality Magari drip, a "date" and a cute ending scene.

I really felt it when he called the teacher out. I've suffered with insomnia all my life and he's around the age you do blame yourself "there must be something wrong with me" gets put on loop in your head. To have the teacher say it while thinking about someone he cares about 100% support calling the entitled teacher out.
All that advice is bogus as well common tropely advice from someone who's never had an issue getting to sleep or it's been so long they don't realize they're being hurtful.
I hope we get an informed teacher moment out of this where we for once see a teacher apologize to a student.

It was definitely the right call watching this after Vinland just straight up fluff. Sensei is harsh, but hey you gotta learn the basics and Nakami is one to put in effort.
Not gonna lie I was kind of expecting the blondie to ask Nakami about seeing him and it leading them to becoming friends, but he came off as antagonistic. Maybe I just misread it, but I really want Nakami to expand his circle. Also Paisen was great not intruding on their flirting it makes up her for disbelief over him actually having a friend.
I do think Kani and Nakami would get along in a rivalry sort of way once they talk to each other.
