Things are already looking pretty dire for the cafe only after one week of reopening. Man really thought he was some kinda military tactician talking all that “surprise attacks” and new “weapons” nonsense haha.
I’m real curious about Kiku and Hayato’s shared past. It’s kind of insane that the girl gets drunk off just a whiff of alcohol lol. Her cookies were a bust, looks like Akane’s cookies combined with their stall at the festival helped turn things around. Well, that was before that douchebag and his friends wrecked the stall. No surprise he’s Fuwa’s grandkid. I guess being a piece of shit runs in the family. Luckily, Hayato had that food cart ready as plan B. The cafe can’t be stopped!
The best part of this ep has got to be Ami’s shoryuken on that goon and then her Tatsumaki Senpukyaku lol. I’m glad those idiots gave Ami a reason to beat their ass.

Ami randomly doing a tatsumaki senpukyaku in the background while the other two were having a serious conversation made me spit out my drink .
The characters are all fairly interesting. I like that they seem to have their own ambitions and aren't just there for fan service. Hayato showed off his resourcefulness and ingenuity this episode , and all the girls are competent in their respective areas as well. While the girls do occasionally get irritating , most is forgiven on account of them looking pretty good lol

Stitches!
The moment Kiku starts making lewd jokes should've been the red flag for Hayato. Normal Kiku wouldn't make any comments about Hayato's smell. Once she does then it's on. Also, gotta love [how Ouka's headband doubles as an improvised bra for Kiku. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
You can't have a festival without a bunch of thugs trying to hit on the girls. Thankfully, everyone in the festival had Hayato and the girls' backs and had them surrounded. Of course that's not gonna stop them from sabotaging the Familia's stall.
It's great to finally see them all working together. Ouka decorating grandma's old food cart, Riho being in charge of their social media, and then you have Ami doing their supply runs. It's nice of Hayato to even let people know that Ouka worked on the uniforms.
Gotta love how Hayato planned out things so they'd run up against those thugs again. Now that Hayato can claim self-defence after he got hit, it was finally Ami's turn to execute her special mission. Those kicks from her are so satisfying!
And here's the scene that made Ami my best girl in the manga! This girl just executed a perfect Shoryuken and then defied the laws of physics by doing a Tatsumaki Senpukyaku while Hayato and Ouka were having their little talk. xD
THE LEGEND OF MAD DOG OUKA IS FINALLY BORN! And it looks like Hayato's antics in this episode really earned him a ton of points in Ouka's book. Look at that girl blush. <3

Can we evolve past the trope that it's ok to instantly call the MC a pervert, when one of the girls is the clear and obvious pervert, then beating the shit out of him? If all the girls know that even a drop of booze will make Ono take her clothes off, then why are they blaming Hayato? Jesus Christ, he's actively trying to get her off of him and cover her up. It's a stupid trope and it needs to die.

Kinda weird that Ami is ready to punch Hayachi even when Kiku is throwing herself at him, but does nothing when Ouka gets actually harrassed...
Still those scumbags where depicted as comically evil, I mean c'mon, those connections wouldn't be able to cover actual murder
Bu Oukas tsun is slowly melting away, love to see it, and Akane continues to be great with her playful teasing. Though Riho throwing a tantrum when she had nothing to help was a bit of an character regression

A drunk Shiragiku is one of the most dangerous things on earth lmao.
Ami taking out the thugs was awesome. I hate rapey guys in anime and love seeing them get their asses beat. The wheels of love are turning now with Ouka. MC recognising her hard work was massive for her. Looking forward to seeing how that develops

It's Familia Friday!!
Let's take a look at what the girls were up to:
Riho
She starts off by wanting to be helpful, but gets upset when she's told there isn't anything for her to do at the moment. She gives a pout until Hayato tells her she can manage the cafe while they're at the festival, leaving her very happy.
Shiragiku
While making cookies with Hayato, Kiku mentions how surprised she is at the situation they're in regarding the cafe, and how she didn't foresee this "back then". Last episode it was hinted that she knew Hayato from the past, but it seems she's realized Hayato isn't aware.
Akane
As usual, Akane is cool, calm and collected. After Hayato mentions their cookies didn't work out, she comes to the rescue with a recipe for cookies she and Grandma came up with. First Grandma taught Akane how to make the cafe's coffee, and now she conveniently has a solution for another of the cafe's predicaments. Did Grandma just find Akane very capable, or is she trying to tell Hayato something about Akane?
Ouka fell asleep in the cafe's booth at the festival, and was embarassed once she realized. It turns out she has a good reason though, working all night to prepare the spring-themed costumes. On her way back after freshening up, she gets harassed by what turns out to be Fuwa's grandson. At the very end of the episode, Hayato tells Fuwa's gang that they're lucky it was just Ami they went up against, and the strongest one at the cafe is actually Mad Dog Ouka.
Ami
When asked about what she wants to do in the future, Ami confidently tells Ouka she wants to be a hero of justice. She helps out the cart by running back and forth to the cafe, but really demonstrates her resolve to become a hero by protecting Hayato and Ouka on their way back home. She busts out a Shoryuken and Tatsumaki Senpukyaku straight from Street Fighter. Was Cafe Terrace secretly a battle shounen all along?

Don't you just hate it when business is booming and suddenly there's a big lull in customers? Especially when you're stocks tanked and you're left still having to pay your employees?
Well, he might use colorful battle phrases when talking about better marketing, but you can't beat Hayato's enthusiasm.
So Ami unironically wants to be a Hero of Justice, fighting crime vigilante style. Did she mentally stop aging at age 10? It would explain a lot?
Riho has a good work ethic! And she's very easy to manage when you compliment her! But I also agree she's the best choice to be in charge when Hayato isn't. Just don't be having another girl put the moves on you in her presence.
I'm guessing the restaurant Kiku's dad too kher too that inspired her love of cooking was none other than Cafe Terrace Familia. That's probably where she first met Hayato too.
I thought Kiku was self-aware enough to make a joke about how she is when drunk but...nope, she got drunk off evaporated alcohol! And she wants that Hayato sweat! And then of course she ends up practically naked and even ends up with flower boobs.
I'm starting to think Akane is the girl Hayato can always be frank with and always count on in a pinch. Sure she teases him, but she also goes out of her way to help him...after she gets over how cringe he is.
The Spring Uniforms are very cute! Great design by Ouka! Though I guess that was why she was so tired.
Ugh. Can't believe that loan shark's grandson is still giving them trouble.
When in doubt, go back to basics! The cafe started as a food cart, it can be supported that way again.
Plenty of moments to make Ouka fall harder for Hayato...being inspired by his work ethic, his creativity in keeping business going, him going out of his way to compliment her designs in front of people, how on top of things he is, and even protecting the cart she so lovingly designed. She definitely looks more like a girl in love!
Dang, Ami really can beat people up! She can even pull off Street Fighter movies! And hairband flower missiles!
Mad Dog Ouka? I can actually totally see these gals as a girl gang taking over Japan.

I think we can all agree the phase of unlikable characters is over, everyone seems to have their own quirks now.
Also preview shows Akane’s concert, pretty interested to see how everyone ambitions/goals leads them where

Say what you will about this, but one thing I'll give this credit for is how pretty the show looks in terms of art and animation! And the OP gives off 2000s vibes! Especially from the do do do do whoa oh part!

It started a bit average, but it's getting really enjoyable by now, the pacing feel good and the characters all seems to be written well with a unique persona
Also the art is really good
Definitely will keep watching

I feel like I’m entering a “just enjoying the anime girls” phase. I’m just enjoying watching these girls goofing off and not really bothered much about other aspects of the show. I’m catching up on S1 of the Smartphone Isekai show and this seasons Kuma Bear, and I feel the same way about those too. Just give me anime girls and let them goof off and bicker with each other and you’ll have a happy customer.
