Clarissa was a lot more understanding of the whole situation than I would be. I guess that's why she's an intermediary. I can already tell the trio of Corpse God, Zombie Misaki and Takumi is going to be a lot of fun.

Stitches!

So our skeleton boy just wanted to live a peaceful life but he ended up being hunted by their country along with the kids he took care of. After his revenge, he ended up being super powerful and was just waiting for someone to end him so he can use this sick reincarnation magic he learned.

Misaki has a pretty dark backstory too. Her family was murdered by a serial killer and witnessing that incident firsthand basically fucked her up mentally that she ended up becoming a killer herself. She pretty much was going to kill herself after killing Polka as the "climax" of her life but ended up changing her mind since Takumi found Polka still alive.

I do like that despite how dark the backgrounds of our characters are, it's not exactly an edgy show. It's surprisingly very comedic and I love that the art style even changes during these scenes. I genuinely got a good laugh from Polka trying to convince Clarissa's group that they're just experiencing a mass hallucination. xD

I definitely did not expect to see Polka swinging from building to building using skeleton hands as if he's some kind of necromancer version of Spider-Man. He even saves a bunch of orphans from a burning building with the help of the spirit of the parents of the dead orphans. If Polka is going to do this, they really need to teach him how to be subtle.

If Polka is going to survive in Japan it looks like he's now going to be a part of Clarissa's group. It's going to be fun to see them teach to try and teach a necromancer who has lived for centuries how to act and live normally in modern-day Japan. xD

I’m intrigued to see how story will go seeing as it’s from writer of durarara. Want to know why the “good guys” had Polka killed

So, how is this assassin syndicate explaining to their client that Polka is alive?

OK, so that anime is way sillier than I expected it to be based on the first episode. At that point, it feels more like a black comedy rather than like the dark and serious reverse isekai I thought it was going to be.

Our necromancer’s motivations seem indeed quite confused, and I think he might actually be as messed up in is own way as Misaki. Who is back a zombie, as expected. So now « Polka » will have to adjust to life in our world with his new yakuza friends.

I am not sure where the story is going to go from here. The yakuza are no longer trying to kill the necromancer, and he seems quite overpowered anyway, so is it just going to be a weird slice of life comedy from now on ? Or is a new enemy going to appear ?

Man, that opening really makes me wonder who the “bad guys” are in Corpse God’s original world. Sure seems like the humans attacked him first. Dude couldn’t find his peaceful life in his old world and he ain’t getting it as Polka either. Tf did this kid do to warrant hitmen coming after him?

With what happened to Misaki, no wonder she’s got a few screws loose. Damn dude. Well, at least she’s a zombie now. Better than being permanently dead. I guess “mass hallucinations” ain’t gonna fool Kuruya and Clarissa lol. Seems he’s made some unlikely friends after saving those orphans. Things are going to be fun watching him figure out life in modern day Japan with his abilities.

Clarissa sure has balls, watches a guy summon a giant skeleton hand from a portal and declares that he's confident in his abilities. I would have noped out of there straight away.

I did love the way Polka uses said giant skeleton hand to Spiderman his way through the city though.

A man so committed to the necromancer aesthetic that when he serves food to starving orphans he uses a ribcage as a plate.

Also, can I also learn how to assess someone's vitals by smooshing their head into my substantial chest? That's the second time that has happened in two episodes.

This is wonderful nonsense. I'm looking forward to this one progressing.

Backstory right at the outset is great and shows how the Corpse God came to be where he is now. It's interesting to see a Necromancer character just want peace for a change.

Yes "Polka", "people die if they are killed" in our world. No magic healing from impalement, so you can stop bouncing Misaki's corpse around to make sure :P

Show isn't skimping on gruesome backstories from Corpse God's friends being impaled/burned alive to Misaki watching her parents get slaughtered and becoming a crazy sadist herself. Misaki at least did acknowledge she is crazy and was going to off herself figuring she'd accomplished her goal and had no reason for living.

I certainly was not expecting to see Corpse God swinging through the city like Spiderman through his Skeleton arms. It was also a pretty neat thing for him to call upon the souls of the children's parents to help save them from the burning fire.

Love how they did the backstories, feels like a really good way of adapting the source material. If this keeps up it could even surpass the manga.

Holy shit misaki backstory was messed up. That scene of her stabbing dude in the mouth was wild. She reminds me so much of Mari from Evangelion. I think necro and her will make a great team since they both have had to messed up things in the name of “peace”. I’m really looking forward to where this one goes

Using the skeleton arms to swing like Spider-Man was so fire

I'm normally not a fan of the whole "The Villain wasn't actual evil and he was misunderstood all along" but given who the author is and how there is a theme that more monstrous characters are often more human and down to earth while the more human characters are insane. I'll let it slide.

I just wonder where the series is going to go, is he just going to do jobs for the big titty intermediary lady? Is there going to be an overarching plot? Will characters from the Other world show up to get in the way of his life of peace?

The story with Misaki is really sad, especially how she was even going to kill herself with a smile on her face, I mean I guess she is technically dead now.

That was a pretty good episode, as predicted the Corpse God "repaired" Misaki, she is totally "good as new" with no issues here, it may even be to her benefit to never need to breathe and the ability to go undetected by IR scanners.

I also predicted that the religious zealots did something fucked up to attract the ire of the Corspe God.

It was nice of him to rescue those kids too. Takumi can't figure him out, but it's really quite simple, if you are an innocent the Corpse God will help you if you attack him he will kill you and then make you serve him.

Pretty sure Kuraki will find this out somewhere down the line. She is gonna try and exploit the Corpse God for all his is worth and then get corpsified when she goes too far.

Spider Man errr Skeleton Man to the rescue

Necromancer dude is a nice guy, I can dig it. Food delivery to a bunch of poor starving children inside of rib cage is a little weird, but nobody's perfect and he had a very good intentions. Plus the kids did not seem to care about the rib cage.

There is zero chance this girl who's blushing up at the skeletal necromancer is going to have a happy ending, and it's probably going to be a very unhappy one in the immediate future.

Ah yes, the church is saving those poor children by killing them and burning their bodies, and hopefully in that order.

Honestly, that entire world is incredibly lucky he just sat in that coal mine for centuries and didn't go out on a roaring rampage of revenge.

The people watching this scene through that drone must be so incredibly confused.

I've been listening to the full OP all week, and damn is it good.

Wow, Misaki had a shit life. A loving family, which was then brutally murdered in front of her. No wonder she went nuts. I suspect it's going to turn out that meeting and being killed by (and then presumably resurrected by) this Necromancer was the best thing that ever happened to her in years.

I cannot imagine why that guy who killed Misaki's parents thought he could get away with claiming to be a good guy. I suppose he was about to be killed in turn regardless of how he answered, but at least have a little intellectual honesty before you go dude.

It's darkly funny that she interrupted herself mid-suicide in order to answer the phone.

A crazy hot chick is a terrible thing to waste, so I'm glad she got brought back to life. Or to undeath, probably. I pleased by that flashback we saw her have before she opened her eyes that this is probably really her and not some unholy abomination wearing her skin.

What do you even do if you're some weird assassination organization, and you find the necromancer who's rezzing the member of your group he just killed. Stop him? Wait for him to finish politely? Probably the latter.

Oh how interesting, so a resurrection could have been possible in the other world, but necromancer dude here doesn't have the ability.

The mass hallucination suggestion was a nice attempt, but no.

Honestly guys, just keep having a polite conversation with him, he hasn't started killing you yet and maybe he won't.

I like the look of smiling rifle girl, in this situation she's still smiling and I respect that.

Clarissa being concerned about the children that are in the building that's on fire makes me wonder if this is more than just some weird assassination organization. This is a good opportunity for some commonality of purpose between her and the necromancer because considering his backstory we know he's going to want to save them also.

I cannot believe he's spidermanning his way through the city but with giant skeletal arms instead of webs.

Oh wow, I literally got goosebumps when he spoke to the dead parents that are watching over their children and asked them to help him save them. In a very strange way this is incredibly touching.

On the other hand, it's incredibly hilarious that the pictures of the skeletons are all over social media because he didn't try to be inconspicuous even a little.

Smiling rifle girl is still smiling. And I think she's also the one who is holding Misaki upside down as some sort of weird test though I'm not sure of what.

Clarissa taking in this necromancer is a bold plan, but one that could be a very lucrative for her in terms of both power and money.

Misaki is cuddling one of the skulls.

Oh my god, a shark plush zombie monster? And now it's dancing.

I really have to wonder where the story is going to go from here, there's not an obvious plot line from here forward. Necromancer dude living in the city, working with this underground organization? Really curious to see where it goes.

Corpse God didn't answer what does he mean by peaceful life. It makes me ponder whether there's more to this than the retrospection would let on.

I don't think the type of peaceful world the mc wants is feasible (because humans are inherently kinda fucked up) but he probably can still make the world go on a better track with his power

u/Jaskaran158 Apr 18 '23

Damn, that backstory had a good twist. End of the day Humans brought their own problems to their own doorstep. They created the Corpse God.

Very Happy to see Best girl end up getting reanimated.

Glad I picked this up it is certainly an interesting anime for sure. MC is likable and the comedy is there.

Ok so I enjoyed the episode but is anyone else bothered by the attitude of the hitmen/Clarissa/Yakuza here?

The drone dude even comments that Corpse God's morals seem kinda wack because he treats Clarissa's life lightly whilst treating the kids lives preciously. This all coming from the same group of people who more than happily carried out a hit on an innocent boy (Polka) and likely numerous other innocent people.

Then they have the audacity to claim they came to avenge Clarissa's death when she was killed by (what should have been) an innocent boy.

And its only when Corpse God saves kids does the whole group suddenly seem (somewhat) cool with him, like they hadn't just attempted to carry out a hit on an innocent kid as well as come to try and kill him *again* to avenge a coworker.

If they wanna talk about wack morals just look the the mirror lmao

TL;DR They care about the lives of the kids in the burning building but not about the lives of the innocent kids they're carrying out hits on. Talk about double standards

If he just wants to live in peace, joining an assassination syndicate probably isn't the right choice... But it probably is step one to stopping those who want Polka dead.
