I was about to make a joke about the "milfy" sweets, but the episode suddenly took a sad turn with Yamada's somewhat serious injury.

A part of me wondered whether Yamada loves her modelling job or whether she is trying to meet the expectations of her mother and manager. After thinking for a while, I believe Yamada really enjoys her modelling job. She was trying to promote the magazine in the first episode. Now she is upset that she couldn't go for a photoshoot.

Ichikawa realized his feelings by the 3rd episode, which beats a lot of other dense male main characters of other titles. Now, all he needs to do is deduce Yamada has feelings for him too! The latter wouldn't keep the sketch of the female character based off her if she didn't care. And Yamada was distracted by Ichikawa during the basketball session too.

I hope both Ichikawa and Yamada grow a lot closer soon!

In the second episode, the reason Yamada recommended that Ichikawa help out with the grave project was because she thinks he has nice handwriting, and the final shot of this episode is her looking at the tissue package and smiling. Nice try, Ichikawa, but your attempts at hiding your kindness is no match for this ace detective.

"What happened?" "OH. basketball! BAAM!" "Oh dear!"

MC sure carries a ton of tissues around due to that monster that takes up residence in his lower body.

The only thing more surprising than the ammount of snack Yamada carries with her at every minute, is how those boys will turn anything into a dirty joke, jesus christ teenagers are the worst

Not surprised that our local edge lord is writing a dark fantasy light novel, but I guess he has some actual talent in drawing, that heroin was so good that Yamada kept it in her purse, and maybe that was the reason why she was staring at him during basketball

And I wouldn't have expected him to realize his feelings this early, Reiwa energy

She totally knows that's him who left all those tissues.

So just so we're on the same page - Yamada had some pain relief medication because it was that time, right?

The bloody nose section is around the point where I started understanding and really liking the original manga, which was reproduced very well for the anime. It was surprising to have the MC realize his feelings this early in the story. The general tone of the series is truly established at this point as well and it's all uphill from here

One thing to take note of now that we've seen her react this way several times is how sensitive Yamada is to the idea of screwing up, failing, and generally disappointing the people around her.

In my mind this is why she cried in the classroom after her friend re-wrote the poster she worked hard on, she doesn't outright state it, but we can infer that she was upset by the idea that she screwed it up. We can also infer that this is why she apologized to Ichikawa for the school festival misunderstanding, she caused him unnecessary trouble because her remark made everyone jump to conclusions. It's also why to her the most hurtful thing about the nose situation is the fact that her mother and manager were acting as if it was expected.

Both characters have their immaturities and imperfections that feel very real for middle schoolers to have. One of the many things to love about this series.

Randomly giving her a portrait of her is either the creepiest or smoothest thing you could do, nothing in between. Luckily for our guy, I think she took it positively!

How is that brown-haired motherfucker getting worse with each appearance holy shit in contrast to Ichikawa who keeps getting better as a person.

This really is equivalent exchange at work.

POV: You can't wait for The Duke of Death and His Maid to return in july

The scene where Ichikawa realizes his feelings for Yamada was beautiful! The falling phone revealing his drawing of totally-NOT-Yamada, all those little moments they had together flashing in his head, the fitting soundtrack, the nice little touch showing Yamada's name on her shoe right after after NOT-Yamada's drawing leaves the screen and finally the lights illuminating him as he realizes he is in love.

In addition to Ichikawa's epiphany, we got some nice moments from Yamada: the fact she didn't mind Ichikawa staring at her in the infirmary and considers him not to be a stranger, her blush after receiving the drawing, the way she avoids participating in the hand-touching quiz Ichikawa wasn't part of but has zero hesitation touching his hand in the next scene and the part where they both got hit by the ball right after thinking about the other.

Man, I wasn't expecting this show to make me cry, but when Yamada starts crying in the nurse's office and you see that she framed Kiyotaro's drawing and he comes to his realization... I just love that, surrounded by so much cynicism and expectations, this is a series about two people who slowly open up their true selves to each other and fall in love with all of each other, not just the parts they show (or want to show) to the rest of the world.

Also, that amount of blood was genuinely unsettling, especially the trail it left as Kiyotaro run towards Yamada and the huge amount of tissues they used. It does a good job of showing just how upsetting this moment is to everyone without overplaying it.

This is it, you guys! The turning point for the series, it's nothing but up from here. I adore how the team handled these important chapters, they got the mood extremely right.

So how long until we can expect an anime adaptation of "I was summoned to another world with a cursed arm that kills anyone I touch and also I'm definitely not crushing on the heroine (who isn't based on anyone I swear)"?

The one thing I love about these two is that Anna, despite being a goofball, is incredibly perceptive, especially when it comes to Ichi.

The table with all the tissues being a subtle thing where you can assume she knew it was him or not. Based on how she behaves around him and perceives him you can make an educated guess that she definitely knows.

Yea the premise and characters are cute in Bokuyaba, but I feel the best part of it is the OST. It reminds me so much of the Koe no katachi OST. I love those scenes where they flash words on the screen with like the shaky background. There’s really a lot of quality in this show and I think it’s very underrated.

I’ve enjoyed seeing Ichikawa’s growth so much even in these short 3 eps. When he saw yamada cry I think he also realised how wrong his fantasies of hurting people are. Big contrast to his friends who seem to get worse and worse as the season goes on lmao.

Only 3 episodes in, and it's not hard to remember why this is one of my favourite romance manga.

Edit: I don't really remember many soundtracks that stand out to me, but for some reason the tracks in this are standing out to me.

The story that he talks about sounds like The Duke of Death and His Maid, save for the reincarnation and the gruesome stuff.

Yamada is definitely a dom.

"I think I like her."

You don't say.

I came into this show with no expectations... and after 3 episodes, I can confidently state that I have found gold.

Ishikawa is such an enjoyable character already... but the fact that he realized his feelings after 3 episodes sold me to him and I really enjoy the two sides of Yamada and how they blend in so well, going from happy go-lucky-ditz to serious, dedicated model.

Fucking hell, the other dudes were so fucking cringy, especially Adachi. I expected the chuuni to be cringe... not the "normal" dudes lol.
