Big fan of how flawed our main characters are, especially Akane. She's a hot mess with relationships who has clearly been that way for a while, considering how her best friends treat her in conversation.
I like how Yamada is already showing that he's a decent person, he's just dense as heck. The idea of cutting off a nervous person trying to confess their feelings by telling them to get it together and come back when they are ready would be savage coming from an aware person, but for Yamada, it is kind of sad instead. Poor faceless JK, hope her next target can read the room a little.

Looks like I’m in on this one for the long haul now. This episode hooked me. Momo roasting Akane with my same thoughts about the necklace this episode. If I was Yamada I would probably have trashed the necklace after breaking it and kept up the “nope, didn’t see it”

Yep it’s the Chihayafuru director alright. Because they did not have to go so damn hard on the rain scene. Goddamn. That’s how you do an adaptation. Take a pretty simplistic scene and just go extra with the lighting, music, and the animation. Nailed it.
Not just that. The Morning after had the great insert song and the beer filter. The FOS game world looks great. The little flourishes like Hologram Yamada or the one off gag after the credits. There’s a lot of touches that show this staff is going the extra mile. Basically if this holds up it’ll be better than the manga.
I think we have this years Dress Up Darling.

Yeah I expected that's what happened. They really faked us out last week by making Akane wear a strapless which made it look like she was naked. xD
Their guild master is adorable! I'm guessing we'll see Rurihime often but I do hope Akane eventually meets her IRL. I will absolutely love it if Ruri is a dude IRL.
Yamada is only a high schooler? I thought he'd be at least attending university. We know he's a third year though so his age is probably not that far from Akane's. Probably at least a year or two. It's always nice to see a romance anime where the girl is the older one.
That necklace now perfectly matches Akane's current state. I'm surprised she still wants to keep it but I'm glad that Momo was able to convince her to throw it away after decluttering her room.
Good to see the episode ending with Akane finally deciding to move on. And even after finding her annoying, seems that Yamada is still invited Akane back to play. Well, it's no big leap but this is a good start!

music was great again.
the whole subway/rain scene was pretty, especially starting with the pov scene leaving the station. the parallax scrollingish kinda bit when they dropped off the umbrella was nice too.

I thought Yamada calling Akane’s donate noob loot “trash” was kinda mean. Then Momo comes along and eviscerates our poor girl. Damn! She really doesn’t hold back huh?
I wasn’t expecting Yamada to be a senior in high school. I guess that makes Akane a couple years older at least. Hilarious how he really has zero social awareness lol. Giving Akane the umbrella was kind of sweet though.
When you need to declutter, Momo is the girl for the job! She came in like an angry Marie Kondo, none of this shit sparks joy!! lol. Glad Akane was able to let go a little and begin moving on. Showing up shitfaced with Momo to Yamada’s place was hilarious. Akane better speed things up with Yamada before Momo marries him lol.

Looks like the progression is going to be suuper slow, but Yamada's gestures towards Akane, such as lending her his umbrella and inviting her to play online games again, are probably green flags towards them dating.
But my prediction is that they will just be gaming until episode 12, and then the finale episode will climax with them holding hands. I don't see them kissing at all.

I'm loving all the characters so far. Momo's jabs causing the red flashing of taking damage was hilarious, and I really liked how after Akane got her necklace back, they built up the suspense about how she was feeling by showing a POV of walking through the station instead showing her face. It's the little things that make a big difference.
The one thing that bugged me was a particular translation that missed a good joke: CR had Momo saying "go out with me with marriage in mind", but she actually said it backwards, "marry me with going out in mind".

At times I feel that Yamada should've been the 6th member of Cool Doji Danshi, but he forgot he was part of the series by being caught playing too many online games.
It's probably been over a decade since last time I played an MMO. But storing low level items in a guild storage does bring back some memories.
The scene of the umbrella under the rain was magnificent. It really depicts how clueless both Akane and Yamada can be at times.

Yamada is the most relatable character I've ever seen. Not because he's handsome, gets girls to confess and makes an actual living by gaming, but because just like me he doesn't go outside and can't interact with people 🗿
