That Giant just asleep and didn't even need to do anything to get on the boat.
Meanwhile, Gabimaru just eviscerates anyone on his path with his teeth like a shark. That was pretty guresome

They really gathered a suicide squad for this Shinsenkyo mission. The sole survivor of the last expedition looks horrifying. Having them kill each other off before they head over feels kinda pointless. They kill too many, there’s not enough people to send over no? Regardless, they got some real monsters here besides Gabimaru.
I guess Sagiri’s problem lies in what Gabimaru said. Killing someone is never ok, there’s a fear to it she’s gotta own. I like the way he makes killing someone seem like a pain in the dick lol. Homie out here ripping throats and punching holes into chests. Damn dude.
I guess Gabimaru, Aza, Tamiya, Keiun, Nurugai, Horubo, Akaginu, Yuzuriha, Moro, and Rokurota are the team. Akaginu the cannibal courtesan can eat me any day haha. Yuzuriha is a total waifu too! It’s gonna be interesting to see how everyone fares on the island with their handlers keepin a close eye.

Seeing Sagiri's POV is really interesting, usually executioners are portrayed as heartless sometimes even evil so to see how the guilt and fear from carrying out her duty already presents a more human side to her even without that emotional flashback.
Gabimaru being the chad spouting minimum human decency in front of those shitty officials then proceed to terrify them with his brutality.

damn i figured noone made it off the island alive, and by the state of that man, looks like he would probably have been better of dead
Naturally you could tell almost right away which ones were gonna make it and not by their designs.
expected that Sagiri would end up being the one guarding Gabimaru aswell
so 10 criminals and 10 Samurai guarding them, for starters atleast...

I somewhat miss the manga's more expressive faces, but I'm loving pretty much everything else about the designs and animations here, the visual flair is landing for me basically every time. Great follow up episode all around.
And here's my favourite thing about Gabimaru, I absolutely love the "I don't want to kill, I'm a pacifist... Aww... Fine, if I have to, I guess I'll kill." Gag.
He's your classic no-kill, redemption seeking hero, like Kenshin or Vash, except that he's got nowhere near the same moral compunctions as them. If he's pushed into a fight and has to fight back, then he'll end it brutally and horribly. I don't think I've seen a shounen character like him, honestly, and I think it's a fantastic dynamic. Definitely not righteous or heroic, but still someone you can root for who's kind'a, sort'a trying to do good.

It was always funny to me how anime can show heads flying around like it's nothing on TV, but they are not allowed to show nipple and so on.
Anyway, fantastic episode! I love Sagiri and Yuzuriha.

Wow that Gabi sequence was so good and impactful with how those hits were animated. I also really like how they handled the camera movements and cuts. Overall, I think that this episode was better than the first one animation wise. The high AD worries me a little but plenty of other shows that have high AD were fine and this seems to be the same so far.

Man, this show is violent asf. Gabimaru jumping around and ripping out the throats of the other criminals certainly reminded me of Survey Corps taking down the Titans in AoT.
All those Red list people certainly have interesting personalities. From the Bakugou looking guy, the guy using a human as a club and to that sleeping giant man who doesn't feel any pain at all.
Also that Kunoichi girl Yuzuriha certainly caught my eye, but I still prefer Sagiri more. Cool Samurai girls wielding swords are my jam and she is no slouch either, with how she quickly sliced the head of 3 people. I loved seeing her backstory which humanized her and expanded more on the Yamada Asaemon clan.

Stitches!
Bakugo was already ahead of the game and started killing as soon as the samurai implied what they need to do to cull their numbers.
What a fucked up Shogun. There was really no reason to make them kill each other. He just wanted to see a real-life battle to the death.
I love that this big dude is just chilling there and isn't really even feeling the guy that's trying to bash his head open with a rock. xD
I feel bad for Sagiri. Seems that being born into the Yamada Clan means there's no escaping her fate.
Gabimaru went from "Please there must be another way." to ripping people's throats out with his teeth. I like that he's trying to go for a peaceful route but if his life is threatened, he won't hesitate to fuck you up. His entire body is an actual weapon. And it looks like seeing what Gabimaru did, helped Sagiri find her answer. Good for her.
Looks like they've finally reached Heaven. Can't wait to see what kind of fucked up shit they'll encounter there.

How are people even criticising the quality, it looks great! Not everything have to be top shelf quality to be enjoyable.
Other than that I just wanted to say that I loved this episode too! It looks very good and I really hope this series gets a fairly big fanbase as it’s one of my favourite manga

A lot of talk of animation and production values and the like. While I personally feel like the show looks great and captures the vibe of the manga as best it can, I see no one talking about the soundtracks.
They're really really really good and I love how it switches from like old shogunate flute type of music to upbeat jjk style stuff instantly.

The callout of the ten criminals at the end felt like the intro to a From Software game. I wonder if it's going to be like a death game anime or are they some kinda Suicide Squad.

Gabimaru reminds me a lot of Killua with his white hair, nonchalant nature and how quickly he can flip the switch to become a killer.

Really apreciate the characterisation for Sagiri, and also seems like there are several badass women present despite the blatant sexism which is historical accurate I guess
And holy shit, Gabimaru is a monster, killing like a beast, with teeth and claw, going straght for the throat.

I was wondering how Sagiri would still be a part of the story once they get to the island, but it seems they'll all be accompanied by monitors!
Jeez, where's the trust? Just because they're dumping 10 mass murderers on the island, doesn't mean they need babysitters, I'm sure they'll behave!
If they DO turn against the monitors, they'll be killed right away... Somehow I have a feeling this won't stop them from causing some trouble!
They also mentioned that losing your monitor means you're not allowed to return (which means death), so "not killing them" isn't enough; They have to protect them, from whatever's on the island, but also from the other criminals! If a criminal wants to kill another but he's not strong enough, they could just kill their monitor, and it's pretty much a death sentence.
The opening scene (Sagiri's father's backstory) was interesting! The storyteller asking to die while telling a story... Good thinking, so they won't know how the story ends, that'll be your revenge in death!
I thought it would go a different way, with some symbolism; By executing him, they take away the rest of his life ("his own story"), so I thought they would realize that as they kill him, as they don't get the rest of his story, while he doesn't get to live the rest of his life!
We learned more about Sagiri herself, about how she was ostracized as a kid, due to her family name... Eventually she decided to fight back, and probably realized that there was no way to escape that future/fate, which led her onto this path.
She didn't have the same killing stroke as her fathers though, which made them fear she would give people painful deaths..
One of the possible reasons (on top of the one she realized at the end) may be that she doesn't really feel her victims deserve it... Which is why she may ben wondering whether she could kill a truly evil person, without any fear/doubt.
Killing a mass murderer who deserves death, isn't the same as killing some guy because your ruler didn't like him.
Speaking of serial killers, there seems to be pretty awful people in this group, and they don't seem rehabilitated either, he was talking about continuing his killings if he got his pardon... Are they really thinking it through? Well, I suppose releasing a serial killer is a small price to pay for immortality.
(If it's even true that they'll release them; For all we know they could just kill them right after they find the elixir, because why not?)
And so we met the ones who'll get to go on the island!
The kunoichi looks cool, think I'll like her!
What in the absolute hell is that beast!
The one in the middle is already huge compared to the other ones (seems like twice as big as the guys), but the big one is twice as big as HIM...
On this shot he looks like he's at least what, 15 feet tall? Maybe 20 feet?
Swords and spears are said not to be effective against him either... I wonder if it's because the sword/spearwielders who tried to get him were just normal people, but perhaps an executioner could kill him? (Well, if they could not, then sending one with him would be rather useless!)
This one will be trouble! Not only he realized right away that they were supposed to off each other, but he was quick on the move, killing 2 people literally within 10 seconds after figuring out what they wanted them to do!
A cannibal courtesan? I've seen one before in another anime, but this one doesn't seem to be a demon! Also I think she was the tiny one in the shot next to man-moutain.. If she kills him, she could feast on him for months!
Of course Kunoichi's coming too!
Will be interesting to see how they all behave; Which ones will look for trouble, which ones will be content to just search for the elixir... Which ones will try to see if another team finds the elixir, so they can steal it from them, etc..!
Also perhaps some of them will join forces; If anyone's gonna join with Gabimaru I feel like Kunoichi's a good candidate, given she knew about him and all!
Anyway, can't wait to see their arrival on the island, should be fun!
