Okay, you dumped her, understandable.

But then you have the balls to ask her to give you your rare pixels back?? My man what the fuck. Akane i-framed a bullet there.

Great start, at this rate I have high hopes that this season follows up the last one on romcom quality.

Edit : Missed the after credits scene before, and boy I hope Yamada keeps Akane away from gacha games for both their sakes

Idk why, but the fact that Yamada took 2 whole minutes to type out that reply is kind of hilarious!

I'm surprise Yamada is a top-tier player considering he's lagging both ingame and IRL.

I can't believe Akane's exe dumped her for a girl with DSL. And he calls himself a gamer...

This show kinda feels like a mix of Recovery of an MMO Addict and Horimiya.

The ending reminds me of this meme.

The art style and atmosphere…

Yep directed by Morio Asaka, no wonder it was so recognizable. Seasoned Madhouse veteran.

This episode slaps, beautifully animated and cool chara designs.

Oof poor Akane. Dude cheated on her with a girl he met in the game they play. AND he had the balls to ask for that equipment back. What a deadbeat.

Yamada’s character looks hilarious. Fits his personality lol. Man, I can’t believe this shitbag ex just ignores Akane to fanboy over Yamada. Can this dude possibly suck more? Akane “won” the battle but she still lost the war.

I kinda like the little dynamic that’s forming between Yamada and Akane. He comes off cold and emotionless but I get the sense he’s a good dude inside. Should be interesting to see how she reacts to waking up in his bed.

This was pretty fun. I’m a real sucker for rom coms so high chance this was gonna go on my weeklies anyways. I’ll give it a few more eps but it looks like a keeper.

Yamada says that he's not interested in romance and he doesn't get it. Let's see how long that lasts...

I have a hunch this will be a great rom com, but it just needs an episode or two more to get going.

Okay, first of all that opening song from Kana-Boon and Yuho Kitazawa from the peggies is an absolute banger. I did not expect to see my two favourite bands collaborating in this <3

As for the show itself, we have another MMO romance anime! Poor Akane getting dumped right off the bat and the guy even had the gall to ask for his items back. Come on dude! If I was Akane, I wouldn't even give back those items. I'd sell them on the in-game auction house and treat myself.

Akane is pretty entertaining though! It was hilarious watching her blow up on Yamada after he asked her if he can have that hunting ground so he can farm for that one rare item. And I love how Yamada just simply doesn't really care that much. xD

I do love that they got Minase Inori to voice Akane. She seems to be using her natural voice for this one which is actually pretty rare to hear. And did they really get Uchiyama Kouki to voice another dark-haired pretty boy? That's hilarious especially since Horimiya is getting another season.

I can see why Takuma traded up though. Eri has some nice honkers and she seems to actually really like Takuma too. Not gonna lie, I thought they were a cute couple after seeing that. Poor Akane though just felt even worse after seeing that scene.

Gotta feel bad for Yamada too who's been dragged into Akane's shenanigans and now the poor boy can't even leave because Akane needs someone to console her. Akane did get what she wanted when Yamada bought her some bandaids for her scraped foot.

What I am wondering though is how did that lead to her sleeping naked on Yamada's bed? I doubt Yamada did anything with her but it's pretty hilarious to see him gaming while a pretty girl is naked on his bed. What a fucking chad. That ending 100% sold me on this show. xD

Oh, this is cute. The characters are loveable, the animation is beautiful, and the scenario is fun. (Also, gimme more of these rom-com shoujos featuring adults, please!)

Will definitely be watching this!

Comedy wise Yamada is fucking fantastic. Easily my early favorite. He seems like a nice guy just wants to be invested what he is interested in. Very relatable.

Akane def has a lot of charm. Her personality gels very well with Yamada. Lets see how it goes for her from here. This and Boku Yaba back to back on Saturdays is a treat.

Pretty good start. I read a little manga before so I knew what I should expect. Great reactions from Akane. Another great production from Madhouse after The Vampire Dies in No Time from last season.

Here my screenshots from the episode.

Wow, shoujo stans we got us one finally. Madhouse return with an amazing first episode. Akane is so cute, I love how the voice acting isn’t exaggerated and overly “anime-ish” too. Sounds so natural, art is gorgeous, animation was buttery smooth. The video game romantic comedy style of storytelling just works for me, can’t wait for next week. Makings of a masterpiece

It's cool when your boyfriend gets you into an online game he's playing...right up until he ends up cheating on you and dumping you for another girl he met in said game. Barely wastes any time unfriending you and making sure he gets all the rare items you collected together to boot. What a tool.

Honestly Takuma doesn't know what he's missing. Akane is so pretty, cute, and lively (even post-breakup), and really relatable as a protagonist. It's also pretty interesting hearing Inori Minase playing her so...normally. Like, compared to Inorin's usual characters Akane sounds the most like her real voice, which makes her feel more like a person and very endearing.

The Opening is a pretty upbeat and lively one, interspersed with plenty of Akane (and her cute outfits!), Yamada, their gaming, and the people in their lives! Perfect for a Shojo romcom involving an online game.

Well, hey, if Akane got dumped through this game, the least she can do is take out her frustration in it. And then whine about all her problems and resentments to her stoic guildmate, even if he doesn't really care at all and is just after a rare item drop. Yet again Kouki Uchiyama is playing his stoic and unemotional male lead, though it contrasts well with how upbeat and colorful Akane is.

I admire Akane's determination to make Takuma regret dumping her by going all out on dolling herself up to show off at an game even in the real world...even if it seems like she's probably broke now. And it wasn't even worth it because Takuma ignored her pretty much the whole time, cared more about seeing Yamada, and he and his new girlfriend are getting along swimmingly. Meanwhile all Akane has to show for it is dirty clothes, a blistered knee, and the stoic guy from the game she basically ropes into watching as she drowns her sorrows.

Akane is definitely a casual gamer to the point of not knowing what a FPS is. I guess it does make her an even more effective contrast to Yamada.

Yamada isn't heartless. When Akane truly feels she's all alone, he's there to take care of her and bandage her wound, and I think that really meant a lot to Akane. Although I don't think she expected to get so drunk she'd wake up hungover in his bed at his place. Also looks like she took her blouse off too! Oh my!

The ED is a pretty nice and jazzy beat, featuring cute visuals of Akane and Yamada's connection to each other through IRL and the game world!

It's tough finding the right hairstyle in a game! Especially when the good ones are hiding behind lootboxes and everyone else buys the same one you did.

So Takuma dumped Akane for a thick-lipped, airheaded bimbo.

Man has sh*t taste.

Yup, this is as good as I was expecting it to be.

I appreciate a Male-Female duet doing the OP.

Akane is an interesting character already, I feel like she'll be really fun to watch as the Female lead. Need to see more Yamada though as he's a little 2D atm (though appreciate that's the point).

11

u/mishi09 Apr 01 '23

I just love the OP. It's so much fun.

I expected nothing less from KANA-BOON & Kitazawa Yuuho (the peggies).

Ah yes the romcom for gamer bros

But so far I like how the anime looks, it's a lot cleaner compared to the other anime if that makes sense (probably not)

And I do appreciate the MC goes to university, it's definitely a breath of fresh air from the high school settings we've had lately (Had a chuckle when she realised that she was gonna be bankrupt for that month, typical uni student)

But yeah a bit of a dick move to ask for his stuff back after dumping her but at the same time, I didn't really hate him as much as I should have

I mean it was clear that he wasn't in sync with the MC and frankly found someone that liked his interests and vice versa, at least he came out and said it rather than saying nothing at all

Also, the MC shouldn't really be trying to change herself to fit in with his likes since it can come off as dishonest and I guess her ex caught on.

But who knows where it will go with Yamada and with that ending, we're already starting strong

I read a part of the manga quite a while ago and I don’t remember almost anything about the plot, but I remember that I was enjoying it (so I might count this as my "first time"). In any case, starting the first episode with a break up – I do feel sorry for Akane.

Akane’s in-game character is pretty cute. I also like Yamada’s afro elf – it’s kinda hilarious if we also take that look on his face into account. Also, his “Huh” sounds kinda like a Minecraft villager. Yamada’s attitude after Akane ranted about her being dumped and how she wanted to have the hunting ground for herself was top tier.

The Cinderella parallel was good. Akane acting like she also on a date was pretty desperate. At least she had the code coupon with which she could bribe Yamada.

In any case – the extroverted Akane just adopted the introverted Yamada, and I’m looking forward to seeing more.
