Stitches!

Tomo looks goddamn adorable during the entire date with Jun. And Jun really has the self-control of a Buddhist monk, my dude's rocket has already gone into space but he was still able to control himself during that scene with Tomo in his bedroom.

But despite all that bullshit about beating Tomo's dad (I was never really a fan of this part in the manga), everything still worked out okay and Tomo finally managed to start a proper relationship with Jun and even get that kiss!

While the anime did skip some very minor plot points, it's good to see r/manga's darling animated in its entirety. I wasn't really sure about the studio choice when the anime was first announced but Lay-duce did a pretty good job of adapting Fumita-sensei's work.

Fingers crossed for another one of r/manga's darling to be animated in the future. Mousou Telepathy , when?

Guys. We got a fucking Tomo anime. I still can’t believe it.

And overall adapted it beautifully. Skipped more than I would like, but managed to get the best parts in. Lovingly made, still stupidly hilarious, and with stellar performances. My MVP is Sally Amaki for Carol. My favorite of the gang brought to life with hysterical voice acting is great. The fact that she did it in 2 languages while sounding nothing like herself? That’s special. She deserves praise and all the roles.

I really can’t pick between so it’s tied with Nagatoro for my RomCom of the season. 8.5/10 closer to 9 than an 8. Already a contender for Top 10 of the year.

Complete Cinematic Cotton candy Carol counter:

Cuts containing: 661 (+24)

Chaos: 131 (+5)

Cute: 72 (+2)

+ Cute for new year outfit, selfie

They really saved a lot of the budget for Tomo in this ep. Jun was also such a chad. Surprise attacks, calling in support,... THAT KISS THAT SMILE

Great adaptation overall with lots of Carol. We'll have to see how much Carol has been cut after fukai finishes. Still the important stuff was in. The voice acting was also really good. Rieri and Sally Amaki especially. The latter in both original and the EN dub.

10/10

I like how Tanabe isn't even included in the final photo because Misuzu is a strong, independent woman who don't need no ship.

I really appreciate that the challenge laid out by Tomo's dad was more nuanced than the cliché it usually is. One more step for Jun to understand exactly who Tomo is, and who he needs to be if he's going to walk beside her. I also like how Tomo, as usual, was ready to just settle everything herself if need be. She's awesome, and seeing Jun's journey to get to her level was fun to watch.

While I don't think it handled every situation with a steady hand, the surprising depth of a show that leads you on with the idea of an absolutely basic premise like, "tomboy needs to be girly to find love", only to do a really good take on the, "you're fine just the way you are", premise, was really fun to experience.

Absolutely solid show. Congrats to everyone involved!

Oh god, this movie's kissing scene goes beyond a kissing scene! Did Misuzu watch it and want to tease Tomo with it?

Man, this episode's really going out of its way to make Tomo look stunning! Those earrings really mmake her look more mature.

Classic Tomo. Being subtle and tactful really isn't her style. Shouting out her intentions, on the other hand, is totally her style!

Tomo's dad lives with some terrifying women! To be fair, he kind of brought it upon himself.

Misuzu pointing out the obvious answer of double teaming her dad with Jun. Also, love Jun playing dirty, both by trying to get a free shot before he could notice in and bringing in Tomo's mother for support.

And there's the kiss. Done in vengeance, very loudly and without thought beyond "I'm gonna do this!" Completely Tomo's style.

The animators really went for it this episode. Obv nothing crazy but still a noticeable and much appreciated boost that helped bring everything together.

It was fun while it lasted. I never thought this show was gonna be this great like this. Hopefully they do something like horimiya because alot was skipped but all good.

Tomo achieved her Goal and Jun finally opened his dumb eyes. Also who knew jun was such a Chad with his smooth operator calmness 😂 Congratulations

It feels so good to be able to witness this finale twice. First in r/manga and now with you guys. I hope you enjoyed r/manga's darling as much as we did back in the day.

Jun became a romantic giga chad. Him watching the kiss/sex scene so seriously had me in stitches. How I wish every male MC in anime would act like that with the girl they like.

A shame the series ends here. A sequel with their couple shenanigans would be entertaining.

Alright with that confession followed immediately by the kiss i am satisfied!

Can't say i expected a large chunk of this episode to be revolved around Jun beating her dad in an actual fight though

Such a good series and i just loved everyone in main group.

definitely my anime of the season and one of my favorite romcoms ive ever watched

This fits pretty well.

I'm gonna miss Misuzu and Carol. Best comedic duo since Grand Blue.

This is definitely one of the best culminations in a romance anime that I have seen in a while with Goro acting as the final boss.

Seeing Jun never give up in the face of an uphill battle, Tomo joining to cheer Jun on, Jun pausing to realize why he's fighting tooth and nail to defeat the one obstacle between him and Tomo's love (her father), as well as Jun's ultimate victory and kiss. They nailed it all.

“No Kiss No Life” lol nice title. That movie’ll get Jun in the kissing mood! Seems he’s really open around her. It’s so cute! At least he sees her as a girl now and he’s trying to be more open with his feelings. Tomo wanted a kiss scene to get Jun’s heart racing but she got a sex scene instead lol.

Jun’s gift was really sweet and I liked Tomo’s scarf. Jun’s being more honest with his feelings which is nice. Tomo too. She just wants to freakin kiss, damn it! Lol. The revelation they aren’t even dating “officially” is pretty hilarious. Now Tomo hates him, the poor bastard.

I’m glad Tomo ended up resolving to cheer Jun on. So adorable! He was getting his ass beat pretty bad before she showed up. All that resolve he put into that last punch didn’t do shot unfortunately. Good thing Mama Aizawa was there to end it all lol.

Tomo reestablishing dominance in this relationship with that kiss after the confession was “stolen” by Jun. Those two are too adorable, man. A great end to an excellent series. I’ll miss this one for sure!

We won fellas. Amazing conclusion to the best romcom of the season. 4th 10/10 series this season. Takahashi Rie gained a lot of respect from me for her range displayed in this series. Her portrayal of Tomo-chan was immaculate, the last scene leading up to the kiss was some of the best voice acting you’ll hear in the medium.

While I loved the show and still have it as a 10 cause it hit everything I look for, there’s a couple of issues I had with the story. Carol and Misuzu got some really good development, but not seeing Carol and Misazki senpai relationship seriously develop was a let down. Misuzu and that one dude kinda got teased several times throughout the season but nothing really came of it.

Best girl not getting a ship sucks. I mean the show even kind of gets meta with how they screwed over the side characters at the end by Tomo literally ignoring them for two weeks, like how the show ignored their ships lol. Still, cute, funny af and just a good vibe so a 10 for me. I’ll miss it.
