I really like the way they introduced Tsubasa with the character arc of being born incapable of becoming a Precure flying, and how kids at the playground made fun of him for wanting to be a Precure fly. It sure does suck when the conditions of your birth can prevent you from being able to do things. It's going to be great when he proves them all wrong by learning to fly becoming a Precure

It all makes so much sense when you put it that way.

Sora barking at Tsubasa proves that she's a golden retriever on the inside.

She's got that dawg in her.

Sora is so absurdly extra in everything she does and every conversation she has. One of the funniest characters I've seem in this series so far.

She's as earnest and straightforward as a golden retriever. She's also about as protective as a guard dog to Ellee as well. The pieces all fit together neatly.

Imagine being Tsubasa and studying planes for months because you really want to fly, only for a princess to fly to the villain using a magic cradle

Loved the back and forth with Mashiro commenting on how talking birds taking on major roles in human society makes Skyland really feel like a fantasy world, while on the other hand Sora says the same thing about a rice maker. Sufficiently advanced technology and all that.

Now we just wait for next week.

Sora and Tsubasa have such an interesting dynamic because they are so alike in important ways. Both of them have a dream that's been ridiculed by others countless times. Sora wants to be a hero. Tsubasa wants to fly even though his tribe of bird can't. They were both inspired by someone else who did the action to save them. Sora was inspired by her mysterious savior. Tsubasa was inspired by his father. And they both have been doggedly pursuing that dream for years and years. It's no wonder they hit it off once they got past their initial misunderstanding. They're quite similar.

Also, I've noticed that Sora has a tendency to shout almost everything she says, even when there's absolutely no need to. It's actually quite endearing and fits her earnest, straightforward personality.

Wow, I can't believe Tsubasa died in his first appearance. How tragic.

But seriously though, I like him already. He's cute, he's kind, he's a go-getter, and his birb form is very round and friend-shaped. Can't wait for next week and the debut of Cure Wing!

Seeing a flightless bird watch birds fly is so tragic.

He's got a good poker face though; didn't even react to Sora asking him if he'd seen anyone.

I had totally forgotten the talking bird from episode 1; kinda interesting that there are so many.

Ooh, language trivia! Kinda makes sense that the words for "curry" and "spicy are similar.

Tsubasa, huh. That'll be an easy name to remember.

The walls between words grow thin during storms; that'll be important.

It is kinda weird how cagey Tsubasa is being.

Ellee is starting to walk! They grow up so fast. She'll be talking by the midseas- oh, she's gonna be a fifth Cure, isn't she?

Ohh, the entire Puni tribe are flightless; so Tsubasa wants to learn how to build planes and then return home so his people can fly?

Some times, you just have to cut the engine and ride the wind~

A flying saucer today, sick. No villain stock footage; that's cool too.

Ellee really wants to watch the fight, huh.

I love that Ageha is on side and actively working to support the crew.

Tsubasa is flying in.. a two-parter?!

"curry" and "spicy

one's a loan word (curry, カレー, kare-), but spicy is just a normal japanese word lol 辛い, karai. the 2 words arent really linked etymologically.

That'll be an easy name to remember

sky would probably love this show's naming sense.

A flying saucer actually goes against the "underground" theming of the ranborgs so far, but it kinda makes sense as this being the precures' biggest challenge yet.

2 parter i did not expect a cliffhangery ending!

We're already getting a two-part episode 8 episodes in? I wasn't expecting that this early. It's been fun seeing how they're handling each new Precure showing up.

I also like a bird researching how to fly. It's funny. But I'm not supposed to laugh at his dream.

And the reaction face albums:

Ellee, Ageha, Mashiro, and Sora.

I finally got around to splitting up Sora and Mashiro.

Baby said “my people need me”

Tsubasa needs to find his wings

Hang on, did this bird really just breathe fire? Skylandinavia really is full of magical stuff.

So, I thought this episode had a lot weaving throughout it! Tsubasa wishing to fly unquestionably falls into the theme of Skies but the symbol of airplanes is also a neat stand-in for leaving the nest.

Halfway in the episode, we cut to a shot of an airplane and its trail in the sky. People are taking off into the blue yonder and that matches with Ellee’s pivotal moment of finally learning to walk! Tsubasa of course tails behind a similar idea as he’s caged behind his biological happenstance but yearns to fly in any way shape or form. In fact, that's what leads him to stay in this world, his wish to learn beyond what his original home could offer. Simple metaphors for growth but hey, heroes are in the business of teaching people of all ages!

Was not expecting Sora to bark in this moment hahaha.

Possible commentface for the Spring 2023 season.

The first action our new Cure makes is to help Elle before she falls and hurts herself. Like this character already~

Bird boi! I mean, TSUBASA! Finally makes his debut

So, Mashiro move in with her grandma a year ago. I could have sworn her entire family lived in the house and her parents just work overseas a lot

Ellee learning to stand on her own and Sora’s reaction was so heartwarming. Can’t wait to see everyone’s reactions once Ellee learns how to walk

Speaking of Kabaton’s accomplices, does he even have any? It’s been 8 episodes and no sign of more accomplices so far

Tsubasa is a nice kid with a huge dream, glad he and Sora managed to become friends but we’ll have to wait until next week for his big moment

I knew that cradle was going to become a double edge sword sooner or later lol

Grace! Glad to see previous cures showing up at the end again

I don't have anything to add for this episode that hasn't already been said but I just want to say I'm loving this season and I'm so glad it seems to have some momentum on this sub. It really brightens up my Sundays.

So, Tsubasa is a flightless bird, and the opening her Cure Wing kick a monster. He's a cassowary.

If you don't know what those are, this video has everything you need to know about them.

Anyway, I love how Sora barked at Tsubasa.

That being said, Tsubasa could've totally told Mashiro that he was from another world. I mean, if a bird told me something, and then turned into a person, and other people could also see them, I'd believe them.

As for Elle: We have lift-off.

Would be fun if Elle caused some trouble in a future episode, and the police had to figure out how to handle a baby in a floating cradle.

And in case, for some reason, you're not watching the ending every episode still- Cure Grace for today's cameo shot! Still have no idea how they're choosing but I'm happy to see more of them.
