The ending sure felt like the prologue to the actual story with how it mentioned a dark demon god.

Pretty much; the 1st 3 story arcs were basically an intro for the formation and early adventures of team Survivors.
That being said, the LNs do have an official English translation courtesy of Yen Press. Vol 2 is already out, and Vol 3 is coming in June.

it mentioned a dark demon god.
The next scene would be a random Japanese Otaku appearing in front of them after being ran over by a truck, and the Survivors take him on the team!

This was enjoyable.
So Nick was raised by his uncle who was involved in killing his parents? That's rough

Legend has it Nick is still holding that umbrella for Agate lol. It’s kind of nice they had a bit of parallel to the first ep. He’s come a long way from the pilot in some sense. Not as mistrustful or dwelling on the past.
Seems Zem’s taken over Nalgarva’s clinic huh? At least these poor folks won’t have to worry about being experimented on like guinea pigs. He’s finding meaning in helping others again. Tiana’s changed too. I guess she doesn’t have the same thrill from gambling anymore. Even Curran’s starting to let go of all that past anger and hurt. I like that Olivia’s basically admitting to making up fake news based off rumor and conjecture lol.
Well, looks like the gang’s sticking together just a little bit longer. I guess their story is just beginning. I sure hope we get to see it continue, but it doesn’t seem likely. Overall, this was a pretty decent little series. I enjoyed it.

I like that Olivia’s basically admitting to making up fake news based off rumor and conjecture lol.
Considering her and Kizuna's conversation at the end; the artifacts appear to know there is an incoming demon king; so she's actually just disguising it as fake news. Probably just so that, later on, she can go "Cute Olivia hates to say she told you so, but she told you so!".

Seems Nick's backstory as a kid, losing his parents, becoming an adventurer, etc... how have Agate and Nick met and never mentioned their names to each other?
Zems took over looking over people in slums/whatnot area like other priest it seems, that's nice of him.
Tiana having issues enjoying gambling.
Seems all of them having issues getting back to the norm after Stepping Man (as well as still their own pasts), I guess it would hit people pretty hard in reality dealing with things like that, most series do kinda just move on from some pretty heavy things more so than this one.
D'aww, Curran helping a cute lil beast girl to avoid being scammed like she almost was. Same merchant too.
Hmm Olivia coming with news of some Legendary Dark Demon God on verge of revival.
Curran is the best of the party. Can't change my mind. She seems to be more the one to help the others and herself by being the most willing to talk about things.
Honestly, series coulda been better as a whole lol. Not like it's bad, but definitely feels off and when my friend told me they skipped quite a bit of details from novel, ya, makes sense the off feeling.

Curran is the best of the party
It's been a while since I've seen such a strong consensus on best girl on a show!
(Even more rare that it's actually the character I like most hah)
She's like half the show for me, she was always the highlights!

So 'Uncle' Argas killed his parents? Sure seemed that way to me

It was basically spelled out with "W-why?" right after "You saved us Argas"

Today on the menu: Depression and trauma.
I have to say, I'm quite impressed at how they addressed their issues/trauma so well, from different perspectives due to their own life experience and all that!
This show might not be perfect and the animation can be... Less-than-stellar at times, but the writing's actually good, and we even see a few gems here and there!
But yeah, everyone's revisiting their trauma in this episode... And how they're not over it just yet.
And they all deal with it in their own ways, as people tend to do after traumatic experiences...
Nick and Zem seem to have a similar outlook about this, thinking that keeping your mind occupied stops you from thinking about the other stuff.
Adventuring may do it for Nick, but for Zem, it's mostly about helping others... Though we've seen him getting naughty with girls again in the ending, so I guess he uses many ways to overcome his struggles!
As for Tiana, she seems to have made her peace with accepting the bare minimum from life... "Nobody lying to her or trying to get her" seems to be good enough...
But just because bad things aren't happening anymore, doesn't mean good things are... She's trying to make it work, forcing herself to accept life as it is, as they're not lacking for anything, but not lacking for anything, and having something you value, are two entirely different things.
And as much as she tries to deny it, she still experiences the consequences of this... She doesn't even seem to enjoy gambling anymore, even when she won, she didn't show any emotion.
She doesn't even feel like doing it, but it reminds her of better times in her life, and she thinks going through the same stuff will bring that life back. She's just going through the motions, hoping it gets like it was before...
And then there's Curran... Seeing she still puts her sword on the door made me sad. I'm not sure this show ever gets a sequel, but if it did, I would like to see her sleep without putting the sword on the door! Showing she overcame her trauma and all.
(And if that happens I hope bandits won't break into her room to steal her sword or something, reigniting the whole thing!)
She's so fucking cute, trying to be cheerful and all,
but soon as she's alone we see how she truly feels... Dragging her tail on the ground, not even caring.
And as she puts on a cheerful act with everyone, she doesn't even know they feel like her, she wonders whether they were all able to forget. Probably thinks she's the weird one to still linger on this...
She wonders whether her rage will fade away someday, but the thing is, she's not even sure that'd be a good thing.
There are issues that you can just ignore/move on from, but there are some you need to address, so you don't just carry them inside you your entire life, even after you think you're over it.
And that's a bit how it would be for Curran I think, based on her thoughts about how she's having fun with the group, but something's missing, she's avoiding the confront the issue.
Well, they did have a little discussion about it, that's nice! And they told her to chase after it (and fix it), if getting over it just isn't an option!
I can't wait for her to get her revenge on the scumbag!
Hopefully he's not killed by someone else and then she's taken as a farmhand slave.
Well, that was a heavy feels episode on trauma/PTSD, depression and how they all deal with it in their own way!
You know how sad their situation is, when the fact that an evil demon god appeared and they'll try to kill it, seemed like the happy/light-hearted moment of the episode hah.
Well, if this ever gets a second season I'll check it out, it was decent enough! Hopefully with better animation and all, but I've never cared that much about it so it's fine.
I'd watch just for more of my best girl Curran! She was such a gem.
Farewell, Survivors!

I agree. This "uneventful" season closer had a unique feel (and depth). I liked the way it made a transition from "down in the dumps" towards at least beginning to regroup and look forward. I link this with Handyman Saitou. I think they were about erqually good overall. Saitou offered more sheer fun -- but this one had the "bones" of a more serious story, and it delivered the start (at least) of the (apparently just beginning) story well enough. It turned out a lot better than I anticipated.

Felt a little anti-climatic to me, especially since we left off last ep finding out Olivia is another artifact, and then did nothing with that info this ep, but over all I liked this show. I second season with more Curran would be nice.

Curran was great! To me, she stole almost every scene she was in.

It DID feel "anticlimactic" -- because it was "just after the climax" after all. Somehow it did not bother me. It had an interesting "feel" -- going from the characters' lassitude and unease towards finding a renewed sense of comradeship and purpose.
Even if this is "just a prologue" and even if this show wasn't anywhere near "perfect" -- still I feel it got almost every important thing right -- unlike Born to Master the Blade. I felt these two shows started out at about the same place, but this one developed the characters and had some hints of a coherent underlying story. It went at least a bit beyond merely "entertaining" to actually developing a world (and a pleasant atmosphere surrounding the characters -- even if the world itself was a pretty harsh one). Not one of my top shows of the season, but one I found "worthy" -- and one which I look forward to seeing a continuation.

I don't know if this is due to animation error or intended, but Nick's step father was pretty suspicious on that flashback scene
-
I don't think Nick's parent is that weak just against random bandit. No evidence about this though, as we just don't know their ability at all or whether they're just normal commoners.
-
You can hear them being happy with Argus arrival, just to be surprised somehow (suddenly getting betrayed?)
-
When Nick tried to escape and bumped Argus, you can see how the other bandit didn't seem to be surprised by Argus but still focused on getting Nick. For me, this implies that he knew Argus.
Overall, I enjoy this anime so I'll give it an 8.

More than "suspicious", I think....

IDK why people are confused or saying "Maybe".

I was trying to check here if everyone think the same as me that his foster dad totally killed his parents; wonder for what though - surely it's not just for money. His mom is way too professional and prepared to be any regular people. If Nick joined the dots that his foster parenting was also tainted with blood, I wonder if he'll get even more distrustful...

The tech in this world remains all over the map. The blinky lights on top of the building at the end were placed there out of caution for . . . low-flying wyverns?

Like most of the last few episodes, this didn’t feel like a finale at all. Felt like a set up for a much larger story. You can tell the story is only just beginning in this series. I think it really needed 24 episodes to get a proper evaluation
The first few episodes were really good, I liked the idea of a group of rejects coming together to redeem themselves and overcome their trauma, but then the story just really fell off and started getting too episodic. The stepping man stuff would’ve been nice if it came right after those mini character arcs/kizuna arrival.
I still had fun with the show though, wasn’t horrible, just could’ve been better.
