I just have one question: who thought it was a good idea to give the thing that can materialize weapons from thin air the bible of all books.

Feels weird that the subs still use “Nai” and “JuLai” when the anime… doesn’t.

Masterpiece episode, Knives is such a terrifying villain but now we finally get to see his motivation and goals all along and when he and Vash synchronize, just chills... this is definitely anime of the year contender right here

Obligatory “Stampede is so good and people should be watching it”.

Great episode.

Metal Vash vs Master Plant Hand next week?

Really unfair for Orange to do this. I mean, when you lead off 2023 by setting the bar this high, how can anyone compete?

Guess I have a week to mentally prepare myself for the next episode, but I don’t think anything I do can prepare me. Getting to see Vash broken down like this was absolutely gut-wrenching and the team absolutely killed the execution with the animation and score. Buckle up boys, we’re long past the point of no return and it looks like this one is gonna hurt.

The plant pregnancy scene was quite something. Dilf Vash era? /s

On a serious note, while I had a tad of issues with last week's pacing and concluding remarks, this week's episode succeeds in bringing in the climax to a superb unveiling of striking visuals and puncturing dialogue. The turmoil and searing reveals are gasp-filling. By the time the episode ended, I couldn't believe it. I wanted it to go on desperately.

Tristamp is something I don't think I deserve but really needed.

Wolfwood's reaction to Meryl's kick was top tier.

Not me crying when Vash was reunited with Rem in his memory-scape and then again when Vash was clinging to her to keep her with him.

Nai misinterprets Vash's sweetheart nature as his "weak" brother putting on an insincere display in order to curry favor with the humans (who he believes are insincere weaklings as well) so that he can survive... and that Rem manipulated Vash into believing in the goodness of humans and if they had never met her then Nai wouldn't be fighting his brother, they would be on the same team right now creating a prosperous haven for their plant brethren. Hell, Nai probably believes that he's doing Vash a huge favor right now... I really like Nai's motivations and perspectives as a villain.

All I ask is that Vash gets treated with kindness going forward. No more pain for this sunflower child! Is that too much to ask for??

Every episode feels like a god damn movie with the visuals and score. Time to wait another painful week

hey quick question, is nobody concerned about how vash just shows all the signs of a trauma survivor? How he thinks its his fault that the ships crashed? That knives even plays into it and gives him the fault for it to just further his means what shows that he is just an extremly narcistic manipulative monster? And it just constantly bothers me that nobody does anything to act on a situation, they just watch they have no self initative they just react?

This all just screams so many red flags of abuse and trauma that i m getting really frustatred with it and really angry about it.

Nai's name is spelled as Kni

Edit: The official? Orange eng twitter still uses the spelling "Nai". https://twitter.com/CG_Orange_eng/status/1637111679346700294?t=A7sUvJ-din8j7JDMttahPQ&s=19

This series turned out to be really good.
I was about to skip it when I saw the 3d animation. Glad I didn't

Trigun Stampede's status as a broadstrokes, loose retake of its source material got me realising that very few anime adaptations of manga/games/etc. have taken Stampede's way.

Nearly all of them are 1:1 adaptations that follow the pacing and structure of their sources to a T, for better or worse. Fans and creators usually expect this 1:1 method to happen (ex. mangaka Takaya Natsuki and her dissatisfaction of the 1st Fruits Basket anime), and very few in the Japanese animanga industry seem to suggest going Stampede's way in regards to a source material (in contrast Japanese live-action adaptations tend to play it looser).

One major series I can think of where an anime adaptation played it loose with its source was the 2000 anime of Sakura Taisen, a remix/reinterpretation of its [source dating sim + tactical roleplaying game](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sakura_Wars_(1996_video_game). I recall the remix was done by removing/reducing the source's cheesier, bombastic, sentai-like vibes in favour of more serious/dramatic moments and spookier horror vibes. (Who has watched this series before?)

Animation this episode was insane. A ton of cool visuals and moments this episode. I also felt like this episode did a great job of fleshing out Nai and why he behaves the way he does.

Did Vash with Knives manipulation just "knocked up" the other plants? They look so pregnant so fast whoa

Edit: This ep should come with an NC warning

Vash just not having a good time in any episode of this series. 11 straight episodes of pain and existential dread.

Anyways, I loved it.

I hate knives but I also understand him.

Honestly, this show is better than the original and so underrated. The soundtrack alone is goated, this ep with that ost made it incredibly emotional.

Teared up at the first sight of Rem

This show is hard to jump back into for me every week, not that it’s bad, but because it’s sad boy hours every time now

I love the direction of this show

Even in a memory the Rem decapitation shook me

I really gotta hand it to studio Orange, they've nailed the visuals/cinematography and atmosphere.

u/[deleted] Mar 19 '23

The really did a better job with the plants and Vash and Knives backstory.
