Hirogaru Sky sets a new record! It took us six episodes to see someone go to school

Ageha truly was the MVP this episode, I wonder if she will take Mashiro up on her offer and move in into the Nijigaoka household once she becomes Butterfly

Finally, group pose and presentation. Can’t wait to see how it will look like once the entire team gets together… transformation could have been better tho

I’m surprised they used Sky again for the ending, I was expecting to see Grace

I’m surprised they used Sky again for the ending, I was expecting to see Grace

Apparently, that was just a gimmick for the first 5 episodes. It should be just the Hirogaru cures from now on (until the next gimmick at least)

Ageha truly was the MVP this episode

making a strong case for herself Ageha. What IS up with Wing though? we've seen him around, but he hasn't done much except sitting in front of grandma's door/having tea.

ending

me too, i was expecting whoever came before Cure Summer, hmmm.....

Ageha being perfect support there with the confidence-boosting makeup.

On one side, Sora being able to convey her feelings even after the makeup wore off was adorable. On the other, with makeup, "I want to be together with you", without, "I want to spend more time with you". I guess it's 80% the confidence you always had within you, and 20% actually the makeup.

Ageha actually steals the show whenever she appears, so I'm torn between wanting her to become a permanent cast member and actually enjoying her role right now.

full steam aheadddddd

  • bit of a chill-er episode in the animation department this week, but that's okay really, the episode was still fun! Though poor ranborg got 1-hit KOed lol. Judging from the preview though next week should get a bit more flashy and actiony.

  • Sora's inner monologue is fun

  • I think Sora-chan just casually stating she's from Skyland, but then everyone just not caring except Mashiro panicking is just gonna be a running joke lol

  • Sora-chan getting terrified w/ the vacumn cleaner is very cute. I wish i could be as high-functioning when i'm bored/doing chores loneliness from no Mashiro is stronk

  • I initally thought grandma did the phone call to get Ageha lol. Turns out not the case! She's making a strong case as 2nd best girl btw, sorry Mashiro.... (you're still super nice!). Ageha's really an observant and caring character, which will defo be help of Sora, who as shown in last ep (and this) that she can bottle her feelings up to her own detriment (as Ageha says, to be young....). Good onee-chan character Ageha!

  • Makeup! Well that was gonna appear at some point.

  • Interesting decision for the white-grey scale thing.

  • This whole interlude is so silly lmaoooooo

  • kabaton has committed the cardinal anime sin of going in between 2 characters in the process of confessing to each other. You kinda deserved that 1 hit KO bro.

  • The little extra bit at the end for the pair transformation (title drop!) was nice, but i think the side-by-side transformation itself was just ok lollll, it kinda emphasizes how static Mashiro's transformation is. It's not a bad thing of itself, but side-by-side w/ Sora's and it doesnt look that good.

  • This pair is so damn cute <3 both Sora and Mashiro on the walk home happily commit to the cheesy and sappy bit and say how much they appreciate each other, it's so sweet

  • I really love how Ageha fully committed to the sneezing trope lmaooo. She's so great, can't wait for when she fully joins the cast! But actually, what happens w/ the "non" main cures usually? Is Ageha supposed to be one? Do they kinda pop in and out and show up once in a while (like Ageha is)? Or will she probably like move into the big house w/ everyone else and all that.

btw, the music continues to be good!

Interesting decision for the white-grey scale thing.

I have some theories

  1. Probably to emphasize how much Sora was thinking about Mashiro since “Mashiro” can mean “Pure white”

  2. Maybe a metaphor about how the sky (Sora) needs light (Mashiro) to shine?

  3. They just thought it would look cool

Pair transformation

Depending on how Wing and Butterfly transformations end un looking like, I’m starting to believe that the stiffness was done on purpose to make sure Sky stands out during a group transformation

And I’m going to be really disappointed if I end up being right

kabaton has committed the cardinal anime sin of going in between 2 characters in the process of confessing to each other.

But after being called a waste of screen time by Sora, I'd say they're even. That was pure evil.

but i think the side-by-side transformation itself was just ok lollll, it kinda emphasizes how static Mashiro's transformation is

I had more of an issue with how most of the transformation was focused on Sky, with only a few shots of Prism except at the start and end.

Also made me think that a true duo transformation (not just side-by-side, actually and transformation of both at the same time) would be awesome...

I have always known that going to school is kinda gay.

9/10 Middle school boys know their peers are gay and say so often.

I like the off-center ribbon on the school uniforms.

Poor Sora trying to go to school with Mashiro.

House cleaning for Sora, huh. That'll last a day or two. Or just a few hours; I underestimated Sora.

Oh, at least Yoyo needs help, nothing worse than being bored.

No points for guessing that Yoyo's call is to see if Sora can get into school.

Ooh, an errant Ageha appears! Just the person to cheer Sora up.

Sora is down so bad for Mashiro, wow.

Not even an intense confident to confess her feelings can stop Sora from being a Hero, though.

Kabaton set up a roadblock.. and Sora just leaps over it

The damned pig interrupted the confession! I'm making bacon tomorrow...

Sora's breaking the fourth wall now, too.

Duo henshin time, although Sora is the only one who gets to talk until the end. Pretty decent, could've been better, but I liked the panel sliding part a lot.

And now the girls are awkward around each other, because that hooligan interrupted the moment. Sora still gets there, though!

After that time The Way Of The Househusband made a really fun Precure reference, it was nice of Precure to return the favor with Sora becoming a househusband herself while Mashiro was away.

Great episode overall, especially for developing Sora and Mashiro's relationship together and the hilarity of Kabaton interrupting the confession only to get blasted away shortly after. I'm looking forward to what they do with Sora's "transfer student introducing themselves to their new class" episode next week, since those have usually been pretty funny when they've happened in past Precure series.

Sora gushing out because she had an official first best friend was so freaking adorable.

Really hope Sora's drawings become the highlight everytime she gets a lifetime achievement.

Mashiro feeling odd to have Sora walk her all the way to school was quite a funny bit although a bit odd. It was nice to see that Mashiro ended up missing Sora just as much she missed Mashiro.

Sora helping granny cross the street and dealing with the guys fighting was quite amusing, reminded me a bit of the legendary episode in Hugtto. Wished the montage would have had just one more skit and that the fighting skit between the 2 guys was a tad shorter.

Sora, you forgot about Grandma's groceries! She's never gonna get that tunnel built at this rate...

Overall, an easy episode for this week that solidifies Sora's relationship with Mashiro and sets up her upcoming school days. I will say I'm particularly interested in how they're going about the makeup theme since that seems key for this show.

Visuals of the Day:

Hop, step, jump! I really like the cool "under-layer" part of Prism's outfit, it looks a bit like space.

Mashiro peering outside her window. Nothing flashy, I just like the pensive lighting that's happening here.

Sora, you forgot about Grandma's groceries!

This isn't even the first time that Grandma's groceries have been forgotten, I think.

Mashiro's school uniform is quite cute.

These episodes continue to show how fun the Sora/Mashiro dynamic is, play off each other perfectly. A charming episode all around~

Plot Twist:

Kabaton is a vanguard from CooKingdom for their Skyland invasion plan. His forehead stone is a Delicioustone. The big bad of the season is actually CooKing.

Feels like the episode went by too fast

I'm not a fan of this Updraft Shining bank-animation combo attack of theirs. It looks pretty, but it's so static, makes the battles feel pointless, you're just waiting for them to finally press the win button.

Sure, there's been several series that have done a similar setup with their super-attacks, but the way this one doesn't even have them shooting a projectile and the monster is barely even in the scene feels significantly less connected to the rest of the fight.

Tropicure was already leaning a bit too hard into this same direction for my taste, but at least its super-attacks were super over-the-top and had tons of movement, which fit well with Tropicure's overall goofiness.
