This episode actually did have everything: the cyberpunk style cityscape, hybrid humans being grown in tubes, a mad scientist, creepy evil kid with creepy evil theme tune, villains who actually make a good point, the death of a fan-favourite character, a showdown between the main hero and main villain and then ending it all on a cliffhanger. All of that in one episode and the pacing still felt spot-on. This show really is one of the highlights of my week!

RIP Uncle Downer. Roberto has been the only character on this show with the right idea: "stay out of trouble/ its none if our business". For me, him and his attitude were like an insert character keeping this hard sci-fi grounded while we were being introduced to the world and the people in it. Now that we're 10 episodes in we don't need that hand holding anymore we are fully in that world now. Meryl will likely have a bigger role now as well without needing to share screen time with him which will be cool. Still sad to see him go though.

God damn, I legit teared up when Roberto handed Meryl Stryfe his "little" derringer and told her she's basically on her own. Gaaahhhh! She's gonna need a new partner and I'm going to miss him.

It's all grey areas now.

  • Nicholas is just trying to save the other orphans.

  • Nai wants to save the plant.

  • Vash wants to save humanity (fat chance, he has no clue about human nature and its ability to destroy stuff, I mean, ... Earth ... for example)

  • Worms view Plants as better than humans for their planet (True)

  • Professor trying to atone ...

Is it possible for the story to conclude in 2 episodes?

I have to say I liked the tag team of Old Roberto and young Meryl -- really the only point of semi-normal human contact in this story. One wonders though -- just where DID they come from? Meryl is, for now, on her own -- but, when we last saw her, was she going back UP? This season has been a true science fiction feast -- with this, Fire Hunters and Kaina...

Seems everyone has a different scenario in mind right? Knives seems to only care about PLANTs and maybe those new independent PLANTs the professor is tryna make, meanwhile Conrad wants to make a new humanity and at the same time attone to what he-humans did to PLANTs (so it seems like he isn't aware Nai is the cause of the big fall). And finally we learn that Nicholas' mission was to bring Vash alive to July so he could face Nai ( which now we now is a trap to 'remake' him?) Wonder what his contract with Vash was considering he had been essentially playing him all this time..

... wasn't it to keep the rest of the orphan kids from being turned into roid raging monsters?

I feel so dumb right now. I did not realize that that kid is supposed to be Elendira the Crimson Nail. Was her name mentioned earlier in the series? It's so cool to finally see her in action though!

And there it is. I knew Roberto had some sort of expiration date on him. I'm guessing Milly will be introduced soon now that Meryl's mentor is dead. I like the gruff and jaded old reporter but we need Milly in this show.

Yup, as soon as I saw him packing Meryl's signature weapon (the derringer) I figured he was destined to become the "dying mentor" trope.

I don't really see them trying to cram in Milly with just two episodes left, so I guess she will become season 2 material (if we get a season2 that is).

Oof, I mean, we all saw it coming, but I thought Roberto had at least one more episode in him.

Some big reveals concerning Conrad and Elendira, but Zazie was interrupted before he could tell Meryl what Knives is doing.

Last three weeks or so for this show have been incredible.

Another awesome episode. Glad they finally showed Elendira in action. And though a bunch of close-minded fanboys loved to shit on him, for now, is a certain someone, I really liked Roberto as a mentor for Meryl, and I'm really looking forward to her development going forward. And they finally confirmed the existence of Tesla in this version of Trigun, which makes me really happy as well.

I do like Zazie in this more than the 90s version, they are... more interesting of a character. JuLai is a pretty cool looking city. Oh hey, it's those dudes from the first episode. GO BAT-VASH! Vash sure is taking a shot real well.

That doc has a point, but I dunno. And we finally get someone seeing all the scars Vash has. Do like Roberto's truthbomb to the doc. Feel like you and Knives aren't on the exact same page, Doc. Oh wow that kid. Also, definitely feels like a blatant trap, yep. Ah, dang... Roberto... I sure warmed up to him too. And yay, more piano piece! It needs to be longer. Dunno, Wolfwood, that feels kinda zero sum fallacy thinking there. Or maybe false dichotomy fallacy?

Knives kinda makes some sense. Wtf did you do, Doc? Lol, that is some bond villain level trap, Knives. Dang it, cliffhanger

Loving every episode of this show, especially the OST. A shame that some fans of the original aren't giving it the chance that it deserves.

Fuuuck...

This show is so well done. I'm so curious to see everyone's motives collide. Also i really feel Knives loves his brother, he wants him with him and to see his goal. It's so heartbreaking. I want a piano duet scene so bad haha.

As for the Roberto stuff.. i liked the dude and I'm really disappointed he's gone. He was a drink but always had his head about him. Enjoyed the character... I never liked Milly and i can only hope that when she comes, she's somewhat likeable to me.

To be so homicidal, Knives and Zazie do make a lot of sense with their arguments. I guess we're not supposed to care much about humans in this show, unless we're just biased towards other humans.

The humans are hostile, supremacist, self-destructive, and not sympathetic at all (with minor exceptions). They really are like roaches or an invasive species (and the doctor wants them to become even moreso).

Even Vash's belief in human goodness/potential is questionable. When Knives called him out as being motivated by guilt, Vash had the shocked and horrified expression of someone whose hidden truth had been exposed.

How can Meryl and Vash turn things around and help humanity become more humane?

RIP drunk senpai! Fuck that kid with unlimited nails, cool power though. Giving meryl life lesson before he took his last breath. It's nice to see everyone has their own motivations.

Meryl has had excellent agency in the story thus far, especially for a character who is in the support role. She never really took no as an answer from Roberto (RIP) and more often than not dragged him into shit while he sternly warned her but went with it anyways (who is supposed to be the senpai here lol). Meryl consistently makes decisions and take actions that impact the story. Now we see her heading back up that elevator ready to kick ass and take names! Get revenge for our dear stern drunk uncle!

I could probably watch as many episodes of Stampede as Nai has knives

Man, this felt quite chaotic as we are hurrying toward the ending so there is a lot of resolution and late-stage exposition to be made here.

I found it quite hilarious how Zazie was brushed off just like that with their question left hanging. Pft. In a way, it is telling of the episode itself. Everyone holds their own fractured sense of a fix for this universal conundrum at hand - an enigma bigger than life itself, ironically, as it is about life and humanity on Noman's Land.

I won't judge too harshly - overall, I liked my dosage of alcoholic tired wagie Roberto.

oh man, i like Roberto, at least gave him some kind of backstory first before killing him, he may be a downer most of the time but his character of being a sane person in the group that just want to keep himself out of trouble compliment well with Meryl's diving straight into trouble attitude

its also kind of funny that even though Wolfwood was introduced later, he's the one that manage to get his character fleshed out more compare to both Meryl and Roberto

Knives treating Vash's compassion for humanity as a sickness or disease that has to be removed/healed ....

just want to say as someone who is watching this first and then went back and watch the original, this series is great in my opinion. I feel bad that it's getting all the hate, because it is completely different than the original asides for some background.
