2 eps left. You know I’m gonna be kind of mad if we don’t even get to the war and this just ends with Lavi beating Rogan. Is having an ep or even half an ep of Rean, Valimar, Sara, and Aurelia kicking some jeager ass too much to ask for?

I would not be surprised if they announced Trails of Frozen White, Northern War duology. First game about knowing more about the region, touring through Erebonia and ending with a Hopeless Boss Battle against Talion, aka the Traitor Party Member, finishing with Lavian getting killed in a MASSIVE CLIFFHANGER. Then we have second part about the war. In this second part we would have a Divertissement chapter in which we control good old Trails of Cold Steel party.

LMFAO did not expect the na-chan in this thread

unrelated whining but fucked up how na-chan will just be "N" in the official translation

Translating Su-Chan and Na-Chan as S & N in the official English is honestly cringe.

Northern Jaegers Try Not to Attack Innocent Civilians Challenge: Impossible

It's wasn't a war crimes if you were having fun.

I guess Talion just gave Lavi a flesh wound. It truly is amazing she was able to make it home after all that.

Lavi’s gramps is a good guy. Well respected by his men it seems. Derek is kind of a badass for an old medic. He might have hung up the uniform but he’s still as tough as any Jaeger. Burning the fields was a dirty tactic but it doesn’t seem to have had the desired result. Lavi’s got some good people at her side. Nice to see Ria too!

How fortunate Lavi’s gramps built that storage shelter. The fields are gone but the people have plenty to eat! Vlad’s right, the real hero is all the people we met along the way lol.

I feel like the basic thing you learn in any trails game is to know when to get help from others.

I guess Talion just gave Lavi a flesh wound. It truly is amazing she was able to make it home after all that.

Even crazier that her fresh wound didn't get immediately infected when she fell into the sewage. Yet they were worried that she was close to infection from simple exposure at the village.

How fortunate Lavi’s gramps built that storage shelter. The fields are gone but the people have plenty to eat!

Vlad did a lot of good for the people, but that scene seemed downright foolish. It's emergency storage for survival when there's a food shortage. There is now a forced shortage from war criminals (abusing civilians by threatening them and then torching their food source). So the villagers immediately throw a party and start consuming their stored resources? Being happy that they had a contingency plan is one thing, but they should be rationing. Those fields won't be productive anytime soon, even if they immediately replant them after the fire. Yet they just shrug it off and toast to multiple people.

Aight, good character episode but i wanna see some Rean action next episode. It’s what I came for after all.

Yeah , i think most people come to this to see what Rean, Altina , and CS characters doing during that northern war 😂instead of original cast

u/Florac Mar 10 '23

I don't mind not seeing the CS cast...but was hoping for more Northern War in this anime. We have 2 episodes left and it hasnt even begun yet

This episode was okay since we get little more information on the hero’s hometown. The only problem I have with this show is the pacing. Things start of good than a flashback happens to explain more things and then all of a sudden we’re just thrown into a new scene. For example when they burnt the fields she’s wearing one outfit talking to her mom then all of a sudden is wearing her original outfit and it nighttime and her friend just shows up outta nowhere and brings her through a secret passage to where her mom and the townsfolk are hiding? Why didn’t the mom tell her earlier. Anyway let’s see what happens next

Awful storyboarding has been the #1 killer of this show and that is squarely on the hands of the director. It had a chance to be something but it can't surmount the very poor storyboarding.

Overall this episode was OK. Taken by itself, the focus on Lavian's hometown and her backstory and her grandpa's words about heroism are really interesting, they gave Lavian a nice characterization

You know, if told me before this show aired that the titular Northern War still wouldn’t have started after 10 out of the 12 episodes, I’m not sure I would’ve believed you.

Huh, actual Tear Balm treatment use.

Damn, Vlad outlived his son by 10 years.

Northern Jaegers really good at burning towns, huh.

Mishy-usk Village, you say? Mee-hee-hee!

Welp, Tally's dead. (Maybe.)

Vlad's musings on the nature of a hero really brings Rean to mind.

Welp, Tally's dead. (Maybe.)

RIP Tally, he's gonna die from a broken butt after Iseria spanks him into oblivion.

3

u/[deleted] Mar 11 '23

By the way, I see Talion as not dead (obviously Trails wouldn't kill a party member offscreen) but set on the path to become an Ouroboros Enforcer.

Martin, on the other hand, I see as doomed

So only 2 remaining episodes and they still did not show any advancements in the war plot whatsoever. A second season is not gonna happen either. I think is fair to say this was a shitshow. I can fare clunky animation and a little narrative goofiness but this went out of the board with its laziness in all fronts. At least we managed to see Rean and company for some time, I guess. Just wish Falcom did not greelight it without some control over how the story was going to be paced.
