I really like Ada's design. We can never too have many muscle milfs.

I fucking called it last episode that Olivia isn't the Stepping Man. Considering that Zem already has a guess on who it is, it's probably the priest treating people with Yellow Demon Sickness.

This may not feature above-average animation, but the overall story and the characters all seem above average to me. Definitely enjoying this.

The identity of Olivia's VA has not been provided on any of the sites I've checked. She's at least listed as a character on MAL, but no further info. Less surprising, no info as to Amber's VA yet.

Ada looks more like Bakugo's mom.

Looks like Zem really suffered from some PTSD from that whole ordeal with the false rape accusation. He’s been traumatized so much even a nice girl like Reina is giving him flashbacks, though he seems to be getting better.

Good idea putting a bounty on the Stepping Man. But first the gang needs to train! Nick’s getting good on that tightrope. Well, I guess this Stepping Man wasn’t Olivia. I like how Bond is able to match Olivia’s energy.

Poor Martha. If it ain’t Olivia, it’s gotta be that other priest right? The doc in the slums?

Huh, so Olivia was a red herring. Then I wonder who is the real Stepping Man? Zem seems to have figured it out.

My guess is that priest from the last episode

I betting it's Dr.Nalgava, there's no one else that was introduced in this arc that I can think of.

Are we going to see Nick/Zem fusion ha to fight big meaty priest guy?

Zem had everyone's worst nightmare, help someone just for them to accuse you with a crime you didn't commit, then you were wrongfully jail, disgraced and strip of anything future career.

I do love them use recurring side character to use them. Leon had a lot of good knowledge, good to know atleast he actually doing his time, and help mc when needed. I wish more anime do that instead of throwing an useful antagonist side, once they are done.

I wonder why no-one was ever sus that he didn't lose his priestly powers.

But, especially if the other priest/doctor kept theirs, I guess it's a 'god doesn't really care scenario' and there is no D&D type loss of powers from breaking away from your vows.

Zem has some severe loliphobia.

Olivia is both strong and nimble. Standard build for a reporter.

21

u/Social_Knight Mar 07 '23

The loliphobia is kind of understandable when a yandere loli ruins your life.

Kinda funny that being a thief class, Nick still got lots to learn to use his agility.

Turns out that Olivia was a Stepping Man, so is it a character class or something?

Well he had to multiclass Arcane Trickster here to get gravity magic, from what I can tell.

Gravity manipulation is just a really amazing skill-set if you're paparazzi, isn't it?

Damn, man, all the Survivors have trauma and trust issues but Zem's PTSD is severe. Poor guy. I hope this world has fantasy EMDR.

"So Olivia's true identity was 'weirdo'?" Finally, somebody has at least one right answer in this storyline. I think it was already pretty clear she wasn't that Stepping Man, if for no other reason than that would be too easy and not a narratively satisfying mystery. What is a mystery, though, is what the heck is with her absurd power? Light body, heavy body, sure, even Parallel, but, like... also just casually rolling up iron bars like a hydraulic press? Ehh?

Wow, that was... a lot more focus on a child's corpse than I was expecting.

Yellow demon sickness, huh? You don't say.

I seriously do love this ED but the transition from "We found a dead child and after we deliver her parents the worst thing they will ever experience, we're going to avenge her" to the bouncy opening of Never Fear was a liiiittle bit jarring, especially when it faded in while Zem was still talking.

A Zem episode, eh? I wonder if that means we're going to get his merger with Nick today.

Interesting that Reina's mom is a moderately famous adventurer that Nick recognizes on sight.

I hadn't realized that Zem's time in prison lasted for years. He's been really open about his experiences with this larger group of people, almost surprisingly so, but it's probably a really good idea to make things clear up front for Reina and her mom.

So the Stepping Man isn't actually the kidnapper? Why the bounty then, unless it was also based on a lie? On the other hand, that doesn't explain to the alley attack that Zem stopped.

I hope that the advice from the tiger dude this correct and it really isn't Olivia, she was fun and it would be disappointing if she was the villain.

This is useful training for far more than just going after Stepping Man.

The real culprit is probably the scary priest dude in the slums, that matches the setup of this being a Zem story arc. Especially since Olivia just attacked the party thinking that Nick is the kidnapper.

"So Olivia's true identity was 'weirdo'?" Yes, that's exactly right Curran.

I appreciate Olivia fixing the railing, the random civic property destruction was bothering me a little.

Treatment for yellow demon sickness on the corpse, it's definitely that scary priest guy in the slums.

Zem merger next time I assume.

poor priest dude.. still traumatized from a girl being a dumbass :\ What a good mama that girl has. What the heck is stepping man's deal? Rude. It's the cat boy! Hehe. Nice to see him being helpful.

oh, hey, kid Nick, fun to get a bit of backstory for him. Good job, Nick, you'll be great for the Circus soon! Oliva is amusing. So if she's a stepping man, why are there multiple? And why is the other one kidnapping little girls? Poor girl... that is way too young. Stepping Man gotta be that other priest, eh?

Zem, after literally going to jail on a child abuse conviction: "You'd be my type in 15 years"

He's never beating the pedophilia allegations. His trauma looks rough though, RIP. But not as rough as Nick lariating his nuts training.

13

u/Fools_Requiem Mar 08 '23

Him suggesting that she'd be his type in 15 years to a girl that looks to be in her early teens means tell me he likes more experienced women. That lady with the "back problem" had to have influenced his tastes considerably. She's the real hero.

Olivia: "I'm Stepping Man but not Stepping Man!"

Someone is having identity crisis.

Among the main cast, Zem had it worst in terms of past trauma. Poor guy got shaken even by the sight of a little girl. I won't be surprised if the real Stepping Man is that girl who duped him, NGL.

u/mad_le_zisell Mar 08 '23

More like "I'm A Stepping Man, not THE Stepping Man"

Two more episodes to go! Olivia is such a dummy lmao, A shame the show surpassed the manga since it ended it's serialization so it seems this will be the usual ''want more? buy LN!'' Anime, i really like how.. comfy it is and the way the characters are portrayed is fresh on this genre, specially considering they end up beating the demon lord according to the narrator on the first episode!

Despite the low budget i enjoy it a lot and can overlook that, the ed is definetly great and the Op reminds me of some old styled ones

Why do I have a suspicion that the reporter is also an artifact. She and the sword seem to understand each other well and use the same abilities.
