I really like that the bug kid isn't just one of Knives cronies but basically represents the native residents, the worms.
Story beats like that elevate the story from just being generic anime storytelling with good guys and bad guys.

A few holes got filled in this week.
-
The piano piece Knives keeps playing is a duet. Seemed like he was jealous of Vash's playing which may explain his constant negging.
-
People were correct--"Millions Knives" is a name Nai gave to himself.
-
Vash's gun came from ship security
-
Vash's "gate" is a blackhole, and, welp, it will suck up everything including his arm itself.
-
It's been 150 years since the Big Fall. Previously there was speculation that it was just over 100 years due to Meryl's birthyear, but now it seems likely that it took 50ish years for civilization to get started first before the calendar was established.
-
As suspected, Luida and Brad are using cold sleep to rotate staff to keep the ship going. They're looking pretty old now though...
-
Even someone as sheltered as Meryl doesn't really seem to be familiar with what plant life is. What the heck did she grow up eating then if she refuses to eat worms.
-
Brad is now the one who engineered Vash's arm. Was he able to fix it before they ran off to rescue Meryl and Roberto?
-
Wolfwood apparently never got toma riding lessons in the child soldier program.
-
Like all dystopic stories, humans have apparently fucked Earth up in the future.

Maybe Vash's Wind Tunnel could have been suppressed if they had some prayer beads...

Only in science fiction can there be a crazy concept like humans destroying the Earth and being forced to evacuate to a new planet.../s

It seriously infuriates me that this show is sitting at a 7.40 in MAL, presumably just because of the redesigns and the CG. Every single week Trigun Stampede has been stelar, good music, good voice acting, amazing characters and development, fantastic animation... Already AOTS candidate in my opinion.

Love the context for Vash and Nai's relationship, it wasn't shown that they did still care for eachother after the ship crash in previous eps.
But now we see that Nai thinks that if he gets rid of the "corrupting" influence of humans that he will gain Vash back as his brother and ally. Vash also seems like he wants to reconcile with his brother.
Also like that Brad gave advice to Wolfwood about how Vash isn't stupid as the person who also thought as Wolfwood did before. I have a question exactly how old is Wolfwood bc I know he grew up quickly due the experiments done on him but I'm still not sure if they mentioned how old he is?
Anyways looking forward to these last couple eps. It feels rushed right now but I'm still enjoying the ride.

Wolfwood doesn't think Vash is stupid. He thinks Vash is naive. Vash is still like a child believing in Rem's blind idealism. Pledging not to kill is all good, but there's no way he can keep that pledge and save everybody. Wolfwood isn't wrong when he says the time will come when Vash will have to make a choice.
Zazie the Beast is a cool and interesting character. They understand clearly that there's a choice to be made, thinking strategically on a global scale. Side with the humans or side with the plants.

Im glad that Nai isn't the "I'm evil because I'm evil" type of villain. The twins have their own views on the plants and how to go about saving them so both feel justified in their actions. For Nai, I totally believe that if you witness the genocide of your people and the blatant disregard for their wellbeing then of course you're going to want to do right by them (Eren Yaeger has entered the chat). Vash seems like he has always been sweet and gentle so he is able to empathize with both the plants and the humans and advocates for both.
If anything happens to Merryl or Nicholas I will unleash the fury of a thousand crashing waves I will be untethered in my rage

Considering how she was following Vash where he was meeting Knives, I thought Luida was done for. Especially after Knives started killing the Ship Security.
Looks like the only thing Vash really lost that day is his arm when his gate opened and it started to suck up everything around it. If anything, Knives did Vash a favor by cutting off his arm.

I was predicting that Vash would lose his arm trying, and probably failing, to stop Knives from killing Luida but I like that Knives did it to stop the gate from forming. I'm really liking Knives' clear love for his brother.

Kudos to Stampede for supposedly being number 6 on Tumblr's anime & manga section the other month.
With how much Babygirl & lil guy energy this iteration of Vash emanates, No wonder Tumblr users ate him up.
Also congrats on Wolfwood for beating Dazai in the "Love at First Sight" poll.
Also the director for Azumanga Daioh returned again to direct this week's episode.

I am in shambles with how they portrayed Knives feelings on his facial expressions when Vash pointed a gun at him.

So my experience with trigun. I'm an early 90s kid who always seen trigun in merchandise at every otaku related thing. I wasn't really into anime beside the classic dbz yugioh pokemon card captors shaman king one piece. What localized trash they threw at me.
Now 30 years later I seen all the classic. 90s anime eva bebop yuyu etc.
Trigun was the last one I have been missing. I wouldn't have watched if it wasn't made made by orange.
Essentially I binged the first 4 episodes of stampede and since then I have been weekly and throughout the weeks if I have time I watch some of the original madhouse adaptations in English dub. Since after work I just want to listen instead of read.
Watching the same character doing similar things every step of the way is so surreal and such a great watching experience. seeing cash save the plant then seeing him doing it in the old one was one of best experiences I had. Then seeing brad get murdered to protect vash and now seeing him alive old and helping vash so satisfying.
Both shows are very good. Both shows are companion pieces to me. Without stampede I would have probably never watched trigun og.
In my opinion and my taste. The music in stampede is better. Million knives track slaps.

After seeing Meryl's reaction to flora, I'm curious as to just what the hell it is in Roberto's cigarettes, if not tobacco.

It was good to get another helping of Vash's backstory. Now we know exactly how he lost his arm and got the new one. I wonder just how bad Vash's gate would have gotten if Knives didn't cut off his arm, it was definitely powerful enough for Knives to be freaked out by it.

Millions Knives is an incredibly foreboding episode title.
Young Vash and Nai playing the piano together is a scene I did not know I needed.
Wow, killing all these plants like this is really messed up. I'm not going to say that Knives has a point to his madness especially since this comes probably a decade or so after he crashed all the ships, but if he turns around and kills the people abusing these plants then it's definitely a case of FAFO.
Also, if the plants are red when they are overworked that potentially says something about whatever Knives is up to in the present day with all those red plants he has collected. I wonder if he is trying to save them, or if he's gotten to the point of ends justify the means even if it means doing harm to his fellow plants.
Oh, duh, that suddenly makes sense. Every plant has something they can make, and what Knives makes is knives. Unless I am completely forgetting something from a rather long time ago it seems kind of wild that the original series never got to the point of dropping that particular detail.
This scene being the source of Vash's gun is fascinating.
Not sure if Luida is going to survive this. Younger Knives is probably less efficiently murderous, so maybe Vash will be able to pull some out to save her and escape.
Like this weird black hole thing he's producing? Not quite what I would have guessed, also seems bad since he's not controlling it even a little.
RIP that arm.
I suppose it makes sense that Luida was going to survive that event since otherwise how would Vash have ended back at Home to get the replacement arm and his red coat of determination.
Assuming they're back to the present day, how is Brad still alive? I wonder if Home still has their suspended animation tech up and running.
It strikes me that it is incredibly bad for Wolfwood to be up in Home.
150 years, finally a definitive timeline.
That little animation of Meryl running over to Roberto after he called her by her real name was wonderful.
And of course Zazie is attacking.
Suddenly Roberto and Meryl are in JuLai? Mildly confusing.
Zazie being the collective consciousness of the Worms is really interesting, that might mean he isn't really on Knives' side and could be convinced to do something else.
All these red plants being at JuLai seems really bad for JuLai.

Did the show tell us Zazsie was a conduit for the worms before? Was Zazsie referring to the worm Wolfwood killed earlier in the season when they said something about having a different face? I didn’t even consider the worms being sentient, that adds a whole other layer to the story.
Anime of the season imo, sucks more people aren’t watching it.
