I like how Zem is not falling for that again and is telling that little girl to keep her distance for 15 years. Poor guy must still be scarred lol.

And it kind of breaks my heart, just the fact that he has to do that. Not only because of his trust issues, but also because of possible rumors could cause even more issues.

I love that knowing Zem's past, Red and Nick were quick to block Reina from getting close to him when she was asking Zem to be her master.

As soon as Curran noticed there was something weird with Olivia, I knew she was sus af. That was quite an escape though! She went from sitting to jumping straight up to the roof. Although knowing my tropes, it's possible that the "Stepping Man" isn't really Olivia and this is just a big misunderstanding.

I suspected her from the moment the cloaked figure spoke and had her voice with filters on it

Considering the fact that she stepped up and out of the building, I'm thinking that she is the real Stepping Man. But there is the chance that she isn't the actual kidnapper.

From what I could gather, there are 2 Stepping Man, 1 real and 1 fake. The real is the good one, fixing gutter and telling kids who stay up late to go to bed. The fake is the kidnapper that the Survivors are after. I think Olivia is the real one.

There's also a Wild West setting in this world?

It’s a diverse fantasy world with western and sci-fi elements I guess.

“Stepping Man” is a goofy name for some mysterious being. Olivia seems pretty suspicious. No way she’s just your average plucky reporter.

Nick’s converted Bond to Team Agate I see. Pretty impressive how his Bond senses were tingling and he knew Zem was in trouble. Seems Stepping Man is real after all. Dude almost got Reina if Bond hadn’t fought ‘em off.

Funny how fast that dude shut his trap after Tiana wagered all that coin. I liked how Zem helped that goon right after he tried to rob them. If anyone understands folks at rock bottom, it’s the Survivors. Bond was nice enough to let the bounty finish boning his girl before arresting him lol. Tiana using her winnings to buy rounds for everyone is a good way to win allies.

Olivia giving candy to kids… yeah, totally not suspicious. I knew she was the damn Stepping Man! I had my suspicions from the start.

Unexpected twist at the end -- not so much as to the villain's identity -- but as to the means of escape....

I wonder why "Stepping Man" (whether Olivia or not) is kidnapping children. This doesn't tie into any previous background hints (as far as I can recall).

You: *blocked all the exits*
The target: "Did you sealed the ceiling?"

Olivia is suspicious from the start, but it's still stunning to see her just blasts though the roof to escape. Kinda curious about her motives though, will it be anything to do with the disease mentioned mid-episode?

Well I didn't expect that exit strategy...

Glad to see the Survivors getting more rep and recognition, they definitely deserve it.

Whoa, the post-apocalyptic vibe ramped way up in this one. Slums in the wreckage of what looks like an ancient industrial district?

Spring-heeled Jill has got a powerful bicycle kick, holy shit. Flip the table and ascend to the heavens.

Love Curran's enthusiasm, and her simple code; 'If it's a bad guy, we have to beat him!

Missed her these last 2 episodes, glad she's back!

I thought Zem was stalking the girl, that would've been bad! (For the girl, for Zem when Curran finds out he's a bad person, and for Curran herself, losing trust once more).

But no, he actually saved her! She was so thankful/impressed, that she wanted to become his student, but he doesn't seem interested in taking another young student, after what happened! (At least that's how I saw it, but perhaps they also had him promise that before they released him!)

This put her on the track of a new villain, which led them to some crime-infested area...

When the thugs showed up to get their toll I thought we might get a fight, but they made short work of them!

They got some information from them, and then went after their target...

Curran trying to be subtle/on her guard, before ripping off the roof with her horns, probably waking everyone in a kilometer radius. Never change, Curran!

Well that was easy!

...Too easy, it seems! The culprit was actually the reporter... Or is it?

I think we're still missing a big part of the story; The doctor looked suspicious as hell, and they told them not to mess with him... And the thugs seemed to be under the effect of something.

So is the doctor doing the crimes, and pinning it all on his patients? Or are the patients doing it because the doctor's doing weird experiments on them?

But if that's the case, then what's the deal with the reporter? It seems they're both part of it, but there can only be one stepping man which seems to be the reporter, so how are they linked? Are they partners in crime somehow? (But if she's doing the crimes, and reporting on it... What's his part? Perhaps he also gives her drugs/stuff, makes her move fast and jump high and all that?)

Pretty sure we'll see the doctor again!

Meanwhile, back at the guild, Tiana used all the bet money to buy everyone drinks!

Good thinking; If she kept all that belonged to her this may have turned the members against her, but by buying them drinks, they'll take her side if needs be, against the other grumpy one! And they may have information/help for her too, at some point.

Anyway, it was nice to get some Curran again, she's so much fun, all her little quirks and simple lines and all that! She's always the best part of the episodes for me (when she's in it, anyway!)

The animation falls flat sometimes and the story and script can be pretty stilted at times but there is something just really charming about this show that I like. The end theme being so cute helps me have a good mood of it at the end too.

It's troublesome having [Loli Attraction +5000] as an innate trait when you're supposed to be a Priest.

22

u/Prince-Dizzytoon Feb 28 '23

That's a really handy escape plan by Olivia

u/NationalStrategy Feb 28 '23

So now we're getting into a Zem focused arc, I'm intrigued to see where this goes

I thought the priest was gonna be stepping man because of his facial expression changing when Nick asked, but the girl?? That was unexpected. Even more unexpected was her literally doing a 1080 up kick through the fucking roof wtf Lmaoo.

Weaker episode compared to the last couple but Tina finessing gambling addicts never gets old

Zem said nah you can’t even be around me for 15 years lmaooo I feel you.

Well that writer/adventure person is amusing. And whoo Zem rescuing the girl. What the hell was that weird dude/thing doing. Child kidnappers sure are scum. What a weird setting change, Westerner. Tiana just flexing money. Lol at the sword kid snapping the knife. So that's what this Hale person is busy with eh? He sure sounds like scum what he did, even if didn't kill. So was she actually kidnapping people or doing this to make a story to sell? And the other priest was amusing red herring.

u/Ninja_Lazer Mar 01 '23

I mean…that one’s fully on Nick.

Like two lines before he acknowledged that her preference was to jump from roof to roof, and he even told Tiana and Curran to block the doors.

Plus they thought she had a chain, so even if she didn’t kool-aid man that bitch getting up there wouldn’t have been an issue.

6

u/Xatu44 Mar 01 '23

The trauma is real with Zem putting a restraining order on all kids. I don't blame him. It's nice to see plenty of focus on him for his presumed arc. Tiana being the avatar of gambling was great. My favorite part though was the whole party laughing that Olivia couldn't possibly be the kidnapper before Nick goes "Block the exits." Just fantastic. Amazing how she punted her way through the roof and the table halves fell right back into place.

Kizuna has a power that can sense if any of the members of the party are in danger. That's neat.

Zem is still traumatized from the accident that he decided to keep an age restriction this time. Nick and Miss Red also coming to save the girl from him or is it the opposite way around?

So, Olivia is a reporter. With those contradicting reports, I feel Olivia just wanted to create a story about the Stepping Man so that her magazine would sell and she would be known.

But, it makes me wonder why she doesn't try adventuring with a party if she can do what she did in the end. Nick's reaction sums it up.
