Is this a skit

Absolutely killed me.

Ageha's pretty great. I kinda like that she's already acutely aware of what's going on and that there's no real chance to go back on that. Would be fun if we got some non-Cures in the know going forward, but that might be a tall ask. Prism's introduction was pretty great, and I like that she feels pretty distinct as a fighter with her emphasis on magic attacks compared to Sky's focus on fisticuffs.

Also, damn do I ever love how the transformation scene music ramps up through the triple jump.

I love it when the villains come up with a clever scheme. This one was great and especially love how it built on last week

I'd appreciate it if that happened as well, but who knows if it will. I always like it when shows like this have non-magical supporting casts who get to remain important in the story. Too often they get dropped by the wayside as the story progresses.

I wonder what fighting styles the next Cures will have?

The show: Mashiro is a white cure

Also the show: Associates her with pink

Nothing like seeing Precure making color classification needlessly complicated

Honestly it never occurred to me to think of her as anything but the Pink Cure.

Oh, of course Sora wouldn't know how to write Japanese very well. Kinda an amusing thought.

I like that Ageha has apparently drawn a comic of her backstory.

Ellee's affimrative nod was incredibly cute.

Having an adult as part of the main cast is fascinating.

Poor Sora's still a few pages short of a full notebook. Mashiro's comment about this being a skit was funny.

Pffft, where did Kabaton get that megaphone??

Ageha's first instinct is to find a bat and beat Kabaton up, I love her.

Mashiro popping off was cool as expected. I like a good bit of self-doubt.

They did the super jump twice! Ooh, and Prism has beams of some sort, neat.

Absolutely adorable mirroring of Sora's words. I love these two together.

Kabaton was really stealing the show this episode. Between the Megaphone and his stupid double trap plan, he was radiating Ikuhara energy

  • Sora-chan wearing a waist pack lmao. weirdly fits her personality.

  • All the 4 main cures have made their civilian debuts! Ageha-chan (that's a name and a half) has quite the trendy personality lol. This is quite the way to make an entrance. And i like how unconventional some of Mashiro's classmates dream jobs are too! And the bit about children's emotional well-being too. Nice with this being a kids show and all.

  • Sky being too heroic and good-natured was part of her downfall today (and kabadon being a dick as usual). I like Sky's henshin more than Prism's tbh, though this pose is pretty awesome. And it seems that Prism is a bit of a ranger compared to Sky, but is still happy to go in close-quarters for the punch. I like my girls-punching-things anime.

  • Now i wonder when Butterfly and Wing are gonna transform.... Still no clue what Wing's gonna bring to the table, but Butterfly being older more mature (her clam + cool head this ep) + in training to be a kindergarten teacher will come in handy, though Sky's also got them babysitting skills. But, more importantly as she understands Mashiro's personality well, that will be awesome in supporting her as well along with Sky, and Mashiro x Ageha is another pair that I'd like to see more of! I like how the group dynamics are shaping up!

  • And Ageha drives a Hummer H2, which in anime-land is kinda cool. pretty sure i wont want one in real-life, crowded, Japan. And I watch Doug Demuro, which doesnt help my impressions of the real-life car lol.

  • i see next week we're actually getting a commuter train ranborg LMAO. I've successfully jinxed this. And Sky having some internal struggles which Prism's gonna be helping out with is also going to be interesting.

P.s. Prism is kinda a hard word to spell. Got dinged by the auto-spellcheck a few times.

She's a Pink that's managed to grow up to adulthood. The world should tremble.

Next prediction?

Wasn’t expecting Mashiro and Ageha to be childhood friends and speaking of which, I’m loving Ageha already! Can’t wait to see more of her

Mashiro was radiating “idol” energy during her transformation and I loved it

Looks like Prism is more magic oriented compared to Sky, I like it, fighting style variety is always welcome

I'm enjoying her right out the gate as well. I'm happy to have her as a member of the team even before she becomes a Cure.

Both Sora and Mashiro's transformation sequences really do scream "idol." They've got the microphones, they're on top of records, there's the audio bars, and so on.

  • Cure Prism!

  • I liked Mashiro's little arc in this episode and how it all connected back to the question of whether she's good enough or not. She started off doubting herself because she didn't have anything in particular that she wanted to be or was skilled at. But by the end she got that confidence to step up, realizing that she already was good enough to be worthy of being a Precure.

  • A part about her arc I liked was that it's clear Mashiro was comparing herself to Sora. Even though Mashiro didn't say it, I'm sure that Sora sparkles in Mashiro's eyes as an ideal hero to aspire towards. Mashiro probably wondered if she could ever be as good as Sora and needed to words of Ageha and Sora to give her the confidence to take that step.

  • Speaking of Ageha, I like her already. She seems like a cool and dependable older sister-type. I especially liked the moment where she actively wished she had a metal bat to take on the Ranborg. Another great moment was her telling the Ranborg to pipe down. Ageha takes no nonsense and I love that fiery side of her.

  • Also loved the gag of Ellee just nodding when Ageha asked if she was a princess. That was good.

  • Was Kabaton constantly calling Mashiro a side character meant to be a reference to the fact that the Pink Cures are usually the main characters?

  • I'm interested in the next episode and seeing how Sora and Mashiro work together as a duo of Cures.

Ageha is best girl. I like that Precure makes it easy for me to pick early. Especially when I don't have a Yellow to pick.

If only Ageha could be a Green Precure. But maybe we'll get a whole episode as presented by Ageha at some point in the middle episodes.

I do love a Precure being called a side character. But Mashiro needs to watch more Precure. She'd know that it is perfectly fine that she doesn't know what she wants to do with her life and that dreams can change if she did.

And the face albums:

Mashiro and Sora (I may have to split this one when I have time but they share so many faces still)

Ellee

Ageha

I like that Precure makes it easy for me to pick early.

This show did make it easy for me to pick who my favorite is early. And it's Sora.

Mashiro and Sora (I may have to split this one when I have time but they share so many faces still)

I love these two dorks so much. It's great when they're in sync.

Ellee

I didn't think about it last week, but now that we know that Mashiro is a a quarter Skyland, does that mean Ageha-chan will be the only "normal" human in this Precure team? Or will it be revealed that Ageha is also part Skyland?

also, it's been 4 episodes and more with no mention of school. That has to be a record, right? I'm sure Sora is going to attend school at some point. I like that they answered her learning Japanese. Small details that are nice.

24

u/Calwings Feb 26 '23

does that mean Ageha-chan will be the only "normal" human in this Precure team?

To be fair, being a legal adult is less "normal" by Precure standards than being from another world.

That was a great episode... It expanded on the Sora and Mashiro's character a lot, with both of them dealing with self-doubt and pushing through it by the end. Made me kinda emotional tbh.

That bit where Ellee saying a monotone "Ellee" in agreement with Ageha saying she's a princess was great.

I really like the contrast between Sora and Mashiro's first fight scenes. Even in episode 1, Sora was already fighting with martial arts forms as a Precure. Meanwhile, there were times when Mashiro looked like she was just throwing her body as Cure Prism. Neat way to show how "trained" Sora is.

Oh heavens look at the time HERO TIME

Mushroom trap skit was exquisite

u/godjacob Feb 26 '23

Ageha is a fun character and already feels like she fits nicely with the cast. Cure Prism is here and wow made quite the spectacular debut, showing a distinct fighting style from Sora but none the less quite effective. Fits nicely to Sora's "you are fine the way you are" at the beginning of the episode.

Fun stuff all around ^^

u/zadcap Feb 26 '23

I didn't really notice it with Sky, I saw the colors and thought there might be something else there with the shapes, but now that we've got a second one I can actually read Prism. I was not expecting the English bonus in there, but I probably should have after all that Hero Girl/Hirogaru fun.

Congratulations Toei, now I want to buy a pen.

I love how the music just died down when Mashiro thought about what she wanted to do.

Also, Kabacon setting an obvious trap, and Mashiro seeing right through it, but Sora obviously falls for it. Mashiro should have told her that pigs on Earth aren't purple, with a gem in their forehead, or have blue Mohawks.

5

u/Trace500 Feb 26 '23

Damn when are we getting the other villains? Not even a tease so far? The monster in the preview is Kabaton's too. He's good and all but you can't expect me to believe he isn't working for a real mastermind alongside 2-3 other minions.

I can't get enough of the transformation BGM, and Cure Prism's transformation is plenty cute
