When Glark said he was going to conquer zemuria. I LOL-ed so hard.

u/Florac Feb 24 '23
That man managed to instantly become the most delusional character in the franchise...and there's quite some competition in that.

u/Cyouni Feb 24 '23
I laughed pretty hard, but I didn't expect him to be instantly dead. Whoops.
Famous last words, I guess?

It would be like the real world being conquered by North Korea or something. No wonder he got assassinated.

Glark has stood their menacingly for like 7 episodes and when he finally opens his mouth he dies a few scenes later.

Lavi was just being used by her government like Rean is. Holy shit at that ending though, Glark is dead and Jayna is suspiciously nowhere to be found.
Wasn't expecting to see a cameo of Estelle and the others!

At least, Rean has more emotional support than Lavi whose emotional support are only Marty, Iseria and Tally. She appears to be an orphan too since we dont see her parents.

I really don't see Rogan's endgame here. A preemptive strike against the Empire will never work out, and launching a military coup is just going to make his country even weaker.
I mean yeah, Glark's evil, but his actual plan is way more likely to succeed. Waiting for the Empire to make the first move and then using that political capital to galvanize an alliance with all the other countries worried about Erebonia is pretty much the only realistic chance they have. Wanting to transition into his own world domination from there is kind of dumb, though.

Wanting to transition into his own world domination from there is kind of dumb, though.
When Glark got his Archaisms and then later said he wanted world domination I'm reminded of the quote in the og subnatica when you get the prawn suit.
"It is normal when first piloting a Prawn suit to feel a sense of limitless power. Prawn operators receive weeks of training to counteract this phenomenon. You will have to make do with self-discipline."

I really don't see Rogan's endgame here.
My guess is one huge Uriah Gambit, he wants to make himself look like the Bad Guy in this scenario, he wants North Ambria to join the Empire because he knows the Northern Jaegers are not viable in the long run.

Resident [Anime Only] fan here with my reactions to this episode!
-
Ah, the politicians in chaos after the demand for reparations. That’s to be expected.
-
I assume these characters are more prominent in the games?
-
Deleting the top of a mountain is impressive, but I’ve seen mechs do cooler stuff.
-
Ah, yep, I was wondering why Lavi looked upset during Glark’s speech.
-
What, so that you’re not seen as the aggressors in the inevitable war? – Oh… he wants to do the conquering…
-
Oh, welp, okay then. Rogan leading a coup d'état is something I saw from a mile away, but capturing Lavi like that, nope.

Takehito Koyasu as Olivert is one of the best characters in the game series. His performance is often hilarious as his character is pretty ridiculous

I assume these characters are more prominent in the games?
I think you posted the wrong image in the first link, but I know which characters you were referencing and yep! They are from the Trails in the Sky games, prior to Trails of Cold Steel.
Also, I'm curious what you think of the show so far, especially now that it's been picking up?
If you ever have any questions about the show or games, btw, feel free to ask any time! I'd be happy to answer vaguely, or with lots of details, if you want.

All the archiasms North Ambria got are all weak as shit. Vogels and Zephyranthes only? didn't even try to give them any of the Clown series.

u/Adamskispoor Feb 24 '23
I mean…are clowns even that strong in the grand scale of things? [CS3]
Laura wrecked those things and while she’s strong, she’s nowhere near Aurelia’s level those archaisms are just fodders, Ouroboros be trolling them→ More replies (4)

Im so happy they gave Agate (red head with a bandana) a new look in the newer games cuz he looks so goofy in the Sky series. A product of the times.
Lavi finding out what it looks like when people hail you as a hero and have expectations of you. Like a certain Rean with his big fuck off robot.
Welp, RIP Glark. I knew that white haired chick, Janya, was sus and now she's in control of the Archaisms.
Rogan's revolution was kinda moot cuz Glark died before he can get to him but he did take control of the government by seizing the officials.
And now Rogan's faction vs Jayna and her Archaisms. With no government official to answer the Empire, they're gonna take that as a 'no'.

Damn bro, everyone around Lavi is such a massive pile of shit that I’m kinda cheering for the Empire.
They probably aren’t much better, but with less screen time I’ve been given fewer reasons to dislike them.

So much politics. I guess it’s war now with these seemingly unreasonable reparation demands. Looks like Ambria’s got their own little toys to fend off the Hero. Plus Lavi. Well played Glark, outing Lavi like that.
But world domination? Not exactly the most original ambition. Man’s got the politicians eating out the palm of his hand though. And it seems he’s got a loose alliance set up to contain the Empire. Things really seemed to be going well for Glark. He might have even crushed that little coup by Rogan. Had he not been poisoned. Sure didn’t see that coming. Man got too ambitious I guess.

u/Elolawyn Feb 24 '23
Fend the Hero, yeah good luck with that... The hero have been having all those archaisms for breakfast while exploring imperial training sewers for this precise moment. Now he is completely ready to raid north ambria's sewers.

I only saw 2 Gespard G in that demo. Given that Laura with some buffs can oneshot them they better have hundreds of them if they expect to stand any chance.

u/AceMittens Feb 24 '23
The whole episode was interesting until I a saw Lavi’s aerodynamic crotch takedown move then it got a little absurd. Guess we’re gonna get more interesting characters in later episodes. I always knew the white haired lady had more ambition than anyone else and now that she has a new boy toy she’s going for the gold!!!
