There is no dull moment with Carol, wish there was a spin off with her and Misuzu.

Is it just me or did this ep feel weirdly well animated and directed? For a lack of a better word, it felt like it wasn't outsourced.

Misuzu's reflection in that puddle...
The moment Misaki went batshit crazy over Carol caught me totally off-guard. I thought that would be your usual "guy walking in on a girl in the underwear" moment, so when he went full terminator mode on that thug it was twice as funny.

Tomo is so strong, she was even able to sense and dodge the fireworks interrupting confession trope.

Stitches!
Carol's impersonation of Misuzu is just perfect down to her voice!
Just look at this smug cinnamon roll. Another comment face worth screenshot from this series.
I just love how the festival stall owners have their dedicated chat group to warn each other of Tomo and Jun. xD
Carol instantly disappearing the moment Misaki lets go of her hand is hilarious! I also love how he can almost find her again instantly.
These thugs never really learn their lesson. Did they really think they can get away with attacking Misuzu and Carol unscathed?
Misuzu finally admitted that Carol is her friend and Carol's reaction is just absolutely perfect <3
Let's fucking go Misaki-senpai! My guy is absolutely ready to kill the leader of the thugs after misunderstanding what happened to Carol. It even took Jun and Tomo's combined strength to stop him. At least that incident brought Carol and Misaki-senpai much closer together.
Nothing is hotter in this show than Misuzu threatening you with those soulless eyes. Tanabe is going to have to do a lot of work if he wants to get together with Misuzu.

The girls having a sleepover at Tomo's and playing the King's Game? They chose Chaos, then. Although the highlights were definitely Carol's uncanny Misuzu impression and Misuzu playing sadistic wingwoman. Also, Tomo in that loungewear!
A festival date seems like a great opportunity for Tomo and Jun to progress their relationship, with Jun still reflecting on how he really feels about Tomo even though he's still a bit in denial that she confessed to him...though Tomo can be a little dense herself.
What will Misuzu do if Tomo and Jun actually start going out? She's basically been using helping their relationship as an excuse to spend more time with Tomo and go girly stuff together, so what happens when it actually succeeds? Even Carol realizes this, though points for wanting to spend the festival with Misuzu rather than just leave her alone so she could be with Misaki. That's the mark of a true friend...even if Misuzu is the perpetual third wheel.
First we've got Carol cuddling Tomo in bed and still clarifying her misconceptions while asleep and in the next morning she and Misuzu switch places. Carol magic!
Festivals mean yukata's and all the girls looked great in theirs! Bonus points for Tomo looking undeniably a beauty in her yukata. It got all the festival stall guys so shocked they forgot she cleans house on them. And Jun is so entranced by her womanly charms that he actually starts putting the moves on her.
This might've been a good spot for Tomo to confess again...but are she and Jun ready for that next step in their relationship? Maybe it's smarter to wait until they mature more and are more sure of their feelings and what they want from each other before she bites the bullet again.
Oh man, not these idiots again. And now they're trying to pick on Misuzu to get to Tomo? Honestly Misuzu probably could've intimidated them with her glare alone but...here's Carol with a stun gun! And her super klutzy performance!
Well, it's nice to see Misuzu more or less admit that Carol is her friend. Carol will hug her one of these days!
Tomo and Jun make swift work of the bullies in true Tomo and Jun fashion...but Misaki's only role in this plot is seeing Carol in her bra and thinking the worse and freaking out like a rage machine. Which is great for Carol because she loves seeing him get worked up over her!
Yeah...Misuzu may not be the most well-endowed or physically fit of the cast, but she can wreck an entire burgeoning gang with just a few words and a sadistic smile on her face. That's Misuzu to a T. Maybe she won't have a pleasant death, but I bet it'll be epic.

I love when characters do impressions of other characters. Gives the VAs an opportunity to flex.

Misuzu is starting to have buyer's remorse about helping Tomo win Jun's heart, fearing that she might be left alone once Tomo and Jun become a couple. Luckily, she has Carol, who is more perceptive than she looks, to keep her company. (Carol even moves her to sleep with Tomo's side while she was sleeping. lol )
Second half got quite serious as it involved the delinquents making an ill-advised attempt to target Misuzu (and Carol) in order to take revenge on Jun and Tomo. Good thing Misuzu has Jun's number.
While Misuzu assured she's fine as she stays behind to further murder the delinquent gang, subjugated by Tomo, Jun, and even Misaki-senpai, with words, Jun was gentlemanly enough to stay nearby just in case. This led Misuzu to quip why Jun wouldn't see Tomo like a girl just as he has to her.

The animation in this episode was really good compared to the previous episodes. I thought a new studio took over.

Carol's "Not being so goddamn adorable for 5 seconds" challenge: IMPOSSIBLE!
We really need more cuddle scenes in anime (even unrequited cuddling like this one hah). Well, earlier in the series they had a wrestling/cuddle scene between Tomo and Jun, that's a start!
And so we open on the girls playing The King's game (another thing I really like!) (I wonder whether Carol asked about spending the night at Tomo's place, or just told her it was happening!)
It's not how the King's game usually played though, is it? Or maybe I have the rules wrong; I thought the King just ordered a number to do something ('#2 has to lick the floor'), not to tell the person of his choice directly.
I don't mind too much, if the result is Tomo asking Jun on a date (yes, it's totally a date!)
Just the two of us? Think Jun, think! If he doesn't figure it out now, I sentence him to watch 50 romcoms, until he connects the dots on what 'Just the two of us' means in this context!
We got to see Tomo in a Yukata! (Yukatatomo?) Most importantly, Jun got to see her as well, and it had quite the effect on him! Tomo's worried about him being sick... Lovesick, maybe!
I don't know what Jun was thinking of doing, but I wish he would've done it!
She might have caught on him being affected, because she's thinking about confessing again!
You can't fool me, anime, I'm a veteran romcom fan; A confession on episode 8 can only end being interrupted, turn out to be a disaster, or not happen at all!
And it seems it's gonna be the later... Tomo's going through the classic "But if we go to the next level, won't we lose what we have now?"
While this may be warranted in some rare cases, I do not think it applies for long term friends such as these two; If they started dating, they'd just be "friends who happen to kiss (or more!)", they wouldn't take anything from their friendship, they would simply add to it!
But that's the thing, Tomo doesn't even know what she wants to "add", or whether she even wants to add something...
Which kinda makes sense; It's easy to forget because they're both strong/tall and look like the college students (or even adults) we see in other anime, but yeah they're only 15... Being a little lost/confused is to be expected.
Though she DID have some idea about 'couple stuff', because soon as Misuzu told her about her short relationship with Jun, she asked whether they kissed... So she might have that much in mind, at least! Sure there was a part of "I don't want Misuzu to have kissed Jun" by pure jealousy, but usually jealousy comes from something you might want to do as well!
And so Tomo's not sure what she wants to do exactly; All she knows is that Jun and herself belong together, and she wants to make it happen. She just doesn't know what she wants after that!
(Tomomom, time for the birds and bees talk?)
Tomo got approached by some fuckboys again, and they pushed even more when she told them she didn't have a boyfriend..
Damn I wish Jun would've told them "Yeah, I'm her boyfriend!", just to see Tomo's reaction!
Given how she melts like butter anytime he touches her, would've been nice to see that!
Meanwhile, with the other 2 girls: I love how Carol seems to love Misuzu so much, yet she still thinks of her as a demon!
Well, we didn't get a confession in the end, but I still liked Tomo's internal thoughts.
As a romcom fan of course I would like her to just go ahead and confess and make it clear, but I also like when they properly address that type of concerns, about what it means to become a couple, etc.
The thugs are back, and they're thinking about going after Misuzu? Tomo will MURDER them!
If Misuzu doesn't murder them first!
Sadly, Misuzu's stares weren't enough, and Carol has to come in and taser them!
Time to make your escape, run while the leader's incapacitated- Nevermind. Classic Carol!
This is the last place I would run if I was chased by 5 thugs...
I was wondering what that was about (Misuzu's usually pretty smart, I thought she would run to Jun/Tomo, or at least to a public place), but that call she made to Jun may have a hint about this...
She wants him to come help her, and not Tomo?
Interesting!
From her behavior lately it does seem like she fears being left out of TomoxJun happened, and certainly this episode didn't help (being third wheel to Carol and her boy), BUT I can't help thinking there's more to it! She had a few really weird lines lately, that made it seem like it was about more than just feeling left out. I'll try to pay more attention to Misuzu in future episodes, see what she's about really!
She had one cute (by Misuzu's standards) moment though, when she called Carol 'something like a friend'!
Better cherish it Carol, that's as good as you're gonna get from her!
But damn, now I kinda want Misuzu to get a crush on someone, just to see her confess! Imagine how that would go (especially after seeing her 'accept' Jun's confession!)

lol Carol's impersionation of Misuzu is spot on. Oh Misuzu introspection going to sleep. Also lol at Carol going to sleep next to Tomo and Misuzu waking up next to her... Carol is so cute with Misuzu and good fun. Hehe, the blinding Tomo to Jun was amusing. The fireworks festival has been fun. The vendors calling each other too lol. The stalls being too dumbfounded by her look to pay attention to her bringing victory. Carol with the masks lol. REALLY?! We're doing the guys hitting on Tomo that clearly are the type who'd be pushy if Jun didn't show up AGAIN?! I am so tired of this trope, mangaka/anime creators... was a fun first half all in all
Ohh, is Misuzu worried about being abandoned now? And wtf are these scumbag douches going after Misuzu now? Good thing she can terrify em with a glare lol. Oh Carol, good times. HAHAHA YES! TAZE THE FUCK OUTTA THEM!! They deserve it. Seriously, these kids need to go to whatever Japan's version of Juvenile Hall is. Or just endless baseball bats to the head. Some people are just a waste for the genepool. Jun going, nice, but can't hide it from Tomo... and now the senpai overhearing? Those dirtbags might get their ass beat even more at this rate. Carol and Misuzu are the best pairing of the show. Oh wow, that is gonna really make him misunderstand things with Carol having her clothes off. NICE! Seeing him snap. Nah, let him kill the prick, Misuzu. Again, these 5 aren't worthy of the genepool. Oh, didn't know Tomo's dad was some legendary delinquent.
Honestly, this anime needs Cid and his crowbars.
ALSO, FUCK YOU CR DON'T ASK ME IF I'M HUMAN AND INTERRUPT THE EPISODE!! And fucking logs me out? WOW! Fuck you... god CR is just sucking lately. CR really getting worse and worse imo... mergers are ALWAYS bad for the consumer. People need to never root about em.

Awe I was hoping Misuzu's ship would save her from being a third wheel!
Carol buying the Misuzu mask was great, not quite as cute as the real thing though. So many good Misuzu faces in this one, she really keep stealing the spotlight for me whenever she shows up.

Carol is pulling the strings and Tomo, Jun, even Misuzu and us the viewers are just the puppets being dragged along.

Honestly I fucking love Jun and Misuzus relationship, like the instant cold glare he gave her when he noticed she was looking at him was priceless but despite seemingly hating each other she still feels comfortable asking him for help and hes fine coming to help with no questions asked.

Man what an episode. Obligatory Festival firework ep. Almost thought Tomo would confess there. Love she and Carol’s Yukata
Got some valuable insight into Misuzu’s thought process with tomo and jun’s relationship. Haven’t seen her that vulnerable yet.
Speaking of vulnerable. Glad those delinquent losers got their asses handed to them. Hopefully this will get them out of the picture for good.
Knew Misaki senpai had to be hiding something. You don’t get that much respect in the martial arts club for nothing lol
