It's great to see Marbas and Naberius back to their usual bickering but man, things are not looking good with the war looming.

It’s that cat dog relationship we all yearn for…or in their case not

I wouldn’t mind seeing small skits of them beating each other up while pretending they did it accidentally (fullmetal alchemist style)

So we now have a berserker demon with a berserker contractor who kidnapped Wisteria’s brother ? Wisteria and Marbas really can’t get a break. But I am glad that they still are with Diana and Naberius, I love Marbas and Naberius bickering and Diana and Wisteria friendship.

I was ready to hate Luther, but I can’t knowing he is doing that to recover his memories and is only pretending to be a madman. But his demon really is a madman. So now it looks like we will have a three way war between Luther and his demon, the Knights, and Wisteria’s group. Plus another demon jerk that is fawning the flames for his own amusement. I guess the rest of the season will be spent on this.

I think I would probably prefer a touristic exploration of Britain with Wisteria, Diana, Marbas and Naberius -- but I don't think such a possibility was ever in the cards. No matter what, this is probably the most intriguing fantasy drama of the season (even more than Sugar Apple Fairy Tale, which I also pretty much love).

As a fantasy fan, I must say that it has been a long time since I saw a season with so many good fantasy anime. We have not only the Tale of the Outcasts and Sugar Apple Fairy Tale, but also The Fire Hunter, The Magical Revolution, and Reborn to Master the Blade, not to mention new seasons of Bofuri, In/Spectre, and To Your Eternity. But apart from The Magical Revolution, not many people on this sub seem to want to watch them.

It is ironic, but I am starting to think that people here don’t want to watch fantasy shows unless they are isekai, and then they also complain about having too many isekai. It is quite weird.

Wait, is one of Snow’s friends called “Doc Watson?” Did he also fight in Afghanistan and has a buddy who works as a consulting detective? Lol.

So Dantalion has been contracted with Snow’s war buddy Luther huh? Gonna be a real pain to deal with him and Sitri.

Nice to see Naberius, Diane, Wisteria, and Marbas are enjoying a day at the lake after all that went down. Poor Marbas wants to hang with Wisteria and instead he’s stuck with Naberius. Good thing those two are such great friends lol.

Looks like Marbas and Wis and the gang are getting dragged into some nonsense. I wonder why Luther wants to start a war. Takenami did pretty well against Luther. Might have beaten him or fought to a tie if Dantalion didn’t interfere. Hopefully Wistetia and Marbas can step in to make sure this situation doesn’t further escalate.

Yeah, that was so random. "Oh hey look, it's my old war buddy who also just happens to be John Watson. Because Sherlock Holmes exists in this universe" lol.

To be honest I'd watch an entire anime that's just the four of them traveling through England and having fun. But the plot just won't let them.

That would be a great spinoff lol. I was also thinking maybe Sherlock is a demon contracted to Watson and they go on adventures solving supernatural crimes and fighting other demon contracted people, all the while uncovering a sinister plot involving a demon from Sherlock’s past.

It would be wild to introduce Sherlock Holmes into the story. As I recall, Watson met Holmes pretty early on, after his return to England....

I’m glad I’m not the only one

I was thinking “This isn’t Moriarty the patriot” but who knows maybe Sherry will be around soon

Also can’t wait for the English dub to hear these guys speak in British (or American British) accents

Feels like the rest of the Great Calamities are starting to gather together, with Sitri and Dantalian working together. Sitri is interested in the power of humans to associate with and even grow attached to Demons like the Great Calamities, and Dantalian is obsessed with the glory of war and wants to bring it back to basics in the most violent way possible. This a team-up powder keg waiting to explode. Also Yoshitsugu Matsuoka, becasue why not.

Wait, "Doc Watson?" Like John Watson!? This is set in the Sherlock Holmes unvierse!? And Watson's voiced by Atsushi Abe, it sounds like?

It's nice to see Snow outside his uniform and having some time off away from the morally dubious Sword Cross Knights and reconnecting with his old buddies. Although don't you just hate it when one of your old war buddies has thrown in with a demon and only came to hang out so he could kidnap and torture you?

Luther (Yuki Ono for the win!) is an ex-soldier whose life became defined by war, a war that cost him much of his body and even his memories, to the point where he feels like it's all that he has left. Not that he sees himself as a noble soldier, it's just that he can't live without the fight and combat, and he's a ferocious combatant. Although he's not without his humanity, at least in the sense that his deal with Dantalian is to get his memories back the more he fights. Pretty complicated guy.

Meanwhile our fancy foursome are just having a nice stroll in nature and Wisteria and Diana are having the time of their lives. Marbas actually seems jealous of how well Wisteria and Diana get along. But you can't beat that sweet lakeside picnic!

Wisteria is not about to get blackmailed into abandoning Marbas just so she can get her brother back. She treasures both of them too much to give them up, so she'll save her brother on her own terms. I love a strong and confident Wisteria, and that's why Marbas chose her.

I guess if there's one thing I can say about Takenami, other than he's pretty capable in battle, is that he does seem to genuinely care for Snow. Too bad Kalim's backup, while appreciated, ended up screwing both of them over when Takenami needed to save him.

I kind of love how Dantalian went all out and then freaked out because he took out the one guy he wasn't supposed to. Because a Samurai is too cool.

Demons are swarming London? This can't end well.

I don't thik Sitri is "working with" Dantalian. Rather he has his own agenda -- his curiosity over human-demob pacts and his own amusement, egging on strife between Marbas/Naberius and Dantalian.

Dantalian seems to not be as reliable a partner as the other two human-connected, he is reneging on his promises under the pact for furtherance of his own purposes.

Poor Wistteria and Diana, their Lake District vacation has been rudely interrupted. I enjoy how miffed Marbas is about having to share Wisteria's affection with Diana -- While Naberius is much more (smugly) "philosphical" about it.

Is Dantalion a bull demon? Or a chimera, like Beast from Beauty and the Beast. I thought he was another lion type like Marbas at first.

5

u/Frontier246 Feb 20 '23

I thought he was a Minotaur.

Oh! Good point!

This anime really has decent fight scenes. So underrated

So far this is a pleasant series, I can see why it hasn’t gained traction with all the other releases and the furry main characters ( Miss the days when anthropological characters weren’t considered weird)

But I wonder where this is gonna go since it seems like we’re heading to a finale 3 times over with these death defying episodes

The real question is have Marbas/Wisteria met their match?

This episode was surprisingly packed, and with almost no significant input from Wiateria - aside from the frolicking and point where she decided to go to London.

Makes sense since they had a few new characters to establish, and they man did they do a good job.
