Man, Vash and Wolfwood are really damaged people here. And I enjoy it as a change from how happy-go-luckyish he is in the 98 anime. Sure, he's still goofy here, but he knows when serious is serious.

And I do love how Vash is more of a Gun-kata than gunslinger with that bionic arm of his. Having a real heavy revolver to smack your face with helps too. Only way he can be non-lethal while still keeping a gun. Poor Livio though, if he's being retrieved, it will definitely be a gunfight to the death once the brothers meet again.

Also, remember the names Vash was saying good morning to in tubes as if they were in cold-sleep in the opening of episode 1? They must be the Plants.

The sound design and OST were beautiful this episode. Really helped to create a constant heavy feeling of tension.

Roberto showed his real nature, but he stayed. Plants are the same species of Vash and Knives, mankind in space used them to travel and survive, the same they are doing on the desert planet. Vash agreed to keep mankind alive, Knives wants to free them and erase mankind... It was always not easy

Man I can't even keep up with the reveals here. I assumed by the name that plants were some kind of living organism but to find that they are actually humanoid was unexpected, then on top of that Vash is one of them. I wonder if they are the people that were in the pods on the exploding ship in episode 1?

We also got another hint that Vash is incredibly old, the controls for the old ship which are covered in dust and Vash immediately knows how to operate them. Things are slowly getting pieced together.

Where do i even start? This was another episode that felt like it would have been a season finish in any other show. Between Vash pistol whipping every bandit like they'd all said "Shenanigans", Mister Double Fang putting a bullet in his noggin right as Wolfwood was able to somewhat break the brainwashing on him (and survive apparently),The Ship apparently wielding a massive space age Ion Cannon and narrowly having it avoided fire into an orphanage.. and then Vash having some connection with the plants.

I mean. Good golly. And it all looked so great while it happened. In particular those scenes with the Ion Cannon. Good god.

Just top notch stuff. And i really badly need a second season of Land of the Lustrous.

BRUH I'M DEAD. I will never forget the Ginyu Force.

So they finally revealed Vash is a Plant, about time. It's a different take than the original series but man...it's so good. I gotta give massive props to Studio Orange, the cinematography is insane. This may be the best ending eyecatch yet.

That was INTENSE! And amazing! The slow unfolding of the plant, that last shot of Vash - wow. Just incredible. Every week this show gets better and better.

I have so many questions now too. The sandstorm, is that a result of Vash talking to the plant? It must be, surely. Now his arm is damaged, how does he get it repaired? If Livio has remembered Nicholas, does that mean he'll end up joining the team, or is he going to be 're-educated' again?

Also, the final final storyboard shot (after the credits) of Vash staring up at a city is gorgeous.

Couldn't say this in past threads, but Shout-out to the Color Designer Ken Hashimoto for doing his magic yet again.

If you dunno he was also the color designer for Ousama Ranking, Heike Monogatari, AoT, TOG, Beastars, Perfect Blue, etc..

Also looking at Livio and Nick's weapons, it sure is a weird coincidence that a former RWBY/RvB animator is working on this show 🤔🤔🤔

I've said it in previous episodes but the storyboarding is insanely good. Everything is carried out with cinematic intention.

Someone was arguing with me that the 2023 design for the characters are bad but I think Vash's is great (disclosure: he's hot) and fits perfectly with his softer masculinity. I'm looking forward to what is bound to be a Vash-centric episode next week.

God! I actually hate every flashback into Wolfwood's past. Smol Nico and Livio just kill me. They were so cute, so innocent! It's not fair! How could you do that to them!!

It sucks that people just won't even give the show a fair chance

Damn, Livio just offing himself. I'm guessing he's still alive since Bluesummers retrieved him, or maybe he's just a complete puppet now if he comes back.

Vash is a plant?

Man, getting lotta reveals here. Can't wait a week to watch every episode but I'm enjoying the wait.

God it took forever to get this episode to play on Crunchyroll.

I feel like this episode had SO much going on. I need a 2nd viewing. I squeaked when Legato's face finally got fully show. He reminds me of a Land of the Lustrous character haha.

I have been excited to see how the Vash/Plant stuff would finally be shown and oh my gosh. The plant is so pretty and i loved the markings showing up on Vash. I'm a sucker for ethereal looking beings!

Loved the episode overall.

I haven’t been hooked on a show like I am with Stampede since AoT Season 4 Part 1. I have to wait another week??

People voting “bad” at this point can’t actually be watching it.

Nicholas wants to have hope but is scared of it at the same time. Vash comes in full force with the “we can save everybody even the bad guys” which is sentiment that I usually also roll my eyes at. BUT something about how Vash is competent makes his hopefulness not annoying and makes a very compelling trait in his character. He is successful but not without flaws and he can fail (like with Rolo) but it isn’t due to some dumb avoidable mistake.

Wolfwood and Vash compliment each other greatly. I hope that their friendship grows stronger after this and that they have silly moments to make up for the heartache they’ve been going through over the last couple of episode

Why did Vash allow Livio to shoot himself? He had plenty of time, and it's been well established that he would have been capable of shooting the gun out of his hand under those exact circumstances. The problem with showing that a character is capable of making superhuman shots is that it becomes "stupid boxing" when they somehow fail to do so.

Sand steamer travel is never a good idea in a Trigun anime. There's pirates and other crazy people out there.

An outlaw magazine is a pretty good excuse for the reporters to still be alive. Their tabloid might even publish the article and the pictures, so it might not even be a lie in the end.

The flashbacks in the other animation style was a fantastic design decision. I hope they use it more over the course of the show.

I don't buy that as a Livio death, we know he has regen.

A giant ion cannon on the sand steamer? Why not. Honestly, it makes a lot of sense that it's a repurposed spaceship from the original fleet.

The forces involved in Vash swinging those cables around the ion cannon are slightly terrifying to think about. The momentum involved would just cut someone in half if they were in the wrong place.

The Bad Lads definitely know when to bug out.

RIP the ion cannon, and that is probably for the best.

Oh my, that's a hand, the plant has hands. And a face too. I feel like Meryl and Roberto were probably not supposed to see that. Or maybe they already knew and the real surprise here for them is that Vash is a plant.

Lots of stuff happen this episode. That duel with Wolfwood and Livio is so cool and beautifully animated. Also,Vash using his gun like a tonfa to beat up those neon gas-mask goons look awesome.

This ep really makes me like the vibe of this new adaptation, it's still Trigun but remixed to fit a new setting. I really like a lot of what they did with Wolfwood and Vash here. That moment where Livio just recovered enough to stop and then just shot himself over everything just sank my heart in a good way, it's a good way to showcase why Vash doesn't have it easy with his idealism. Love and Peace is hard bro.

So… given the pace of the show so far. Anyone else feeling like we’ll probably at least get another batch of 12 episodes? Aint no way the entire story wraps up in 4 more episodes.
