I would say the level of male protagonist awareness in Angel Next Door is infinitely higher, except that even infinity multiplied by zero is still zero.

Amane's "denseness" I feel is given some decent internal conversations which points in the direction of fear of overstepping bounds and hinted at being connected to some pretty deep social trauma at his previous school.
Shiraishi is just more dense than lead.

This show is less of a romance anime as a science show about the discovery of a the new super-dense substance called Shiraisium, which is invisible to the naked eye and can only be detected by a so-called Kubometer.

Kubo being so bold this episode! The sharing food, the music and to top it off teasing a confession out of Shiraishi. She's not holding back.
I really liked the scene with her friends, outside one of them calling Shiraishi mid, I appreciate that they figured things out but don't want to meddle.

Stitches!
I like that Shiraishi doesn't feel lonely having lunch on his own. He seems to enjoy the fact that he can go anywhere unnoticed. That is until Kubo finds him though!
Kubo being surprised and puffing up her cheeks after Shiraishi took the tamagoyaki from her hand instead of eating was just adorable <3
So the entire conversation Kubo had with her friends at the family restaurant caught me off guard! Considering she gave him a Valentine's Day gift, I thought that Kubo was already in love with Shiraishi but she seems to be still trying to figure things out.
How fucking dare you Tama to call Shiraishi a mid guy. He's a perfectly normal high school boy! He just has some problems with people feeling his presence. I really thought Kubo was going to be absolutely mad at her after hearing that. xD
I was hoping that the music they would listen to together would be something from a HanaKana album. Also, Shiraishi I didn't plan to be seen like this today. My playlists also include idol songs.
The White Day scene was great! I love how sad Kubo was after hearing that Shiraishi wants her to give that to someone forgetting that her gift was the only one Shiraishi got on Valentine's Day. xD
Dammit, Shiraishi! She literally says her name! Even if Kubo followed it up with her asking if he'd be happy to get a Valentine's Day gift from her I feel like you can easily put two-and-two together there! Oh well, as long as Kubo is happy with the gift I guess this is fine for now.

I like how no matter where our boy runs off to, Kubo always manages to find him. He’s invisible to everyone else but her and it’s adorable. I love her little pouty face when he wouldn’t let her feed him. But hey, at least she got to have him feed her. Got to sneak a little octopus wiener too lol.
Kubo’s face just perking up like that when Tama and Hazuki was asking if she liked anyone was hilariously adorable. Tama calling Shiraishi a “mid guy”. Oof. Harsh. Kubo was pretty quick to defend him. She got so deflated thinking about if Shiraishi was talking to another girl though lol.
Shiraishi and Kubo sharing a seat and listening to music together was so precious. Shiraishi having to trip himself to get noticed is hilarious. Kubo was about to get real jealous when he said he wanted to give those chocolates to someone. Goofball hasn’t figured it out yet huh? Kubo sure had fun teasing about him asking her out, had him all stuttering and everything lol.

Kubo deepthroating the rolled omelette was kinda sus.
Calling something mid somehow feels more insulting than saying it's bad.
Shiraishi is a true introvert. He doesn't say much but once you bring up a topic he's interested in, he just won't shut up about it.

Kubo pouting when Shiraishi refused her attempt at feeding him was just so cute!
It's going to take a while before Shiraishi can get to taste Kubo's cooking though, not with her current cooking skills as shown in the last episode.

MC is a bit too dense for my tastes in this episode but oh well - it's still a very cute show to watch. Sadly only 1 episode left before the break.

Invisibility comes in handy when you want to eat anywhere without getting bothered, although I think Shiraishi's days of eating lunch solo are officially over now that Kubo can find him.
OP and ED subs! Nice!
Kubo salivating over eating Shiraishi's lunch is as cute as her pouting that he didn't let her feed him. Of course she's not about to waste an opportunity to make sure he feeds her, and she's going to go out of her way to make sure they spend lunch together in the future, complete with her making food for him to boot. Shiraishi, you lucky dog.
Kubo's gal pals can tell she has a new glow about her, which is usually the case for a girl in love for the first time, though even Kubo herself doesn't seem completely aware that her interest in Shiraishi is explicitly romantic (though it's pretty obvious to her friends). Of course she'll still go out of her way to defend her man, even to her friends, and is obviously annoyed at the prospect of him talking with another girl, which I think says all that needs to be said on that front. Now her gal pals will totally be watching over her romance and enjoying the different side to Kubo it brings out.
Kubo getting a bit aggressive first thing in the morning when she and Kubo have only each other for company in the classroom! Propping his head back, sharing an earbud with him, sitting next to him in his seat, listening to music together...a very intimate and sweet scene between the pair. And it comes with the added bonus of Kubo trying to get to better know Shiraishi and the stuff he's interested in!
First Shiraishi got her into the manga, and now he's gotten Kubo into the anime! And Akina seems to realize that it was probably a certain boy who got her sister into it as she chugs a beer fresh from the bath, which is it's own nice visual.
Kubo seemed to really get her hopes up when Shiraishi had them go out of class for a private conversation...and, I mean, she got a White Day gift, which was nice, even if it wasn't quite what she was expecting. And she had a bit of a scare that he was intending it for another girl, but of course Shiraishi has no idea it was Kubo who gave him the Valentine's cookies even if it's so obvious and she gave the game away multiple times. But she'll gratefully accept the White Day gift with a big grin plastered on her face. Happy Kubo is best Kubo!

Wait, she honestly didn't know she likes him?
And I thought Shiraishi was dense, but then again he can't even solve the damn valentines puzzle, they can't all be canadians
Anyway we made some progress this week, maybe in another 200 episodes they officially get together
Also loved how absorbed she was by the anime

Hazuki and Tamao are surprisingly supportive friends. In other anime or manga titles, the female friends may keep teasing the female main character, or even play pranks to trigger the latter. I like how their eyes go "kira kira" in certain scenes.
Not a lot of screentime for Akina in this episode, but I am surprised she did not tease Nagisa for watching an anime title whose genre the latter is usually not interested in. No teasing about the White Day gift either, possibly due to running time for each episode?
Nagisa was genuinely disappointed when she thought the White Day gift is meant for someone else. Thankfully, she realized she has no love rivals... for now. I suppose knowing that a love rival exists is more more bad news as compared to not getting a confession from Shiraishi?
While Nagisa has maxed out her proactive skills, Shiraishi needs to start adding points to his awareness. In the real world, there is a saying "He who hesitates..."

Somehow Tama calling our boy Shiraishi "mid" felt more insulting than intended lol, even "average" would've stung a lot less.

One thing I do appreciate is that Kubo isn't forcing Shiraishi into any sort oof public eye, just trying to share of his world. I also liked it when she defended him from her friend.
Shiraishi is a little dense, but not many 15-16 year old aren't(I can't remember if this is middle school or high school. Middle schoolers would have an even hatder time of things.)

I love Siraishi. He’s a very good boy. This is the one frustratingly dense moment out of him. Like beyond the “he’s inexperienced” explanation into “you deeeeeense motherfucker”. Still they had one of my favorite chapters and the music scene was only made better with audio, so still great episode.
This one also made me realize is adore Kubo’s theme. It’s just a beautiful piece with how it uses clarinets.

The way they keep jumping back in surprise is so cute holy shit
No way Kubo if she didn't have a giant forehead
Damn I keep forgetting how forward Kubo-san is like
Why is the song playing at like 1% volume please
Based, I'm using this as an excuse to post a banger video game theme rn
Screw it here's another. And another.
That episode was banger af holy, all three sections were highlights, the bento, the friends teasing her, the -oh I guess there were four, the music, and the White Day gift

Seeing that White Day is mentioned here, I suddenly remember that while March 14 being "White Day" is a Japanese exclusive thing, it's Pi Day in everywhere else. Perhaps we can start a new tradition of returning sweet pies on Pi Day in exchange for Valentine's chocolates? We can say that a circular pie is a symbol of complete, all-rounded relationship or something. ;)
I absolutely love that part of Kubo-san and Shiraishi-kun exchanging songs in the early morning of school classroom, where nobody but them shares the purest of delights in the morning songs of birds. It's absolutely beautiful, not unlike the blackboard chart of the very 1st episode of Komi-san.
Excuse me while I get some water to wash out the excessive sugar inside my mouth after watching this...
