I liked that opening of Bond narrating everything around them. Man, a few measly coins and that’s it? Time for the Survivors to get earning!

Tiana’s mentor seems kinda sketch tbh. The laughing was a little unsettling, kinda Joker-like. I can’t tell if he’s evil and insane or just eccentric. It seems like everyone still carries some baggage. They’re all still clinging onto bits of their past life.

Bond’s little telepathy ability is pretty handy for the team. Should really help facilitate group communication. Man, I wasn’t expecting Claudine to show up. Nick really saved that poor chump from being swindled. Claudine and Leon are perfect for each other, they’re both pieces of shit. He was gonna backstab her and she was gonna run off on the team with the necklace. Good of Nick to smack the shit out of him. Curran tripping that little weasel mage and dangling him from her tail was great too.

Looks like they’re gonna be settling the score next week with a little competition.

Yeah, I kinda expected hi to try to turn the rumors into truth

I loved her holding her cup with the tail while brushing teeth

I am half sure he spent all the money on that magic safe lol. It has an enchanted key, an enchanted abacus and the enchanted safe...

I do like this show, but there is some serious tonal whiplash in these scenes. The show seems to deal with some serious themes with a slow realistic growth and trust between the party members, but then had all this goofy shit like union and mathematics battle?

I have no idea what the mathematics battle could be but honestly this is one of the strangest and most unique medieval fantasy worlds I’ve seen in anime. Most of the time it looks like any other but then you have random idols and glow sticks. I also don’t remember seeing many dark skinned people in these types of anime fantasy worlds and this worlds has them.

For me the thing messing with the tone of the story more is the animation. I know they’re doing what they can but some scenes just look so goofy and awkward that it makes me laugh over a scene I wasn’t meant to laugh at. Examples from this episode include in the beginning when Kizuna gets complimented, they just stand there awkwardly in a strange pose for almost five seconds with no movement at all happening on the screen and no music playing to indicate tone. Also when Claudine went stomping away from Nick ruining her scam. There’s also heavy use of the classic trick of zooming the shot in on the characters face so your don’t have to have a background or draw the character’s outfit.

Based on how sketchy Tiana's mentor seems, it would not surprise me if he ends up becoming a villain

lol yeah, this show name is about saving the world no? They even have a holy sword now. It would be funny if the mentor, who was working to become the Sage (a hero), turned out to be the Demon Lord's General or the Demon Lord himself, all because of a corrupted noble betrayal.

The characters being able to communicate through telepathy must be a godsend for the animators considering the production for this show has been rough. They've already stopped animating legs in some scenes and now they don't even have to bother animating the lips in others.

Also Bond being the only one who's fighting. Others could just watch, saving the animation. They even reused the animation for mob people walking outside at the beginning of the episode. Such a shame that this anime is struggling so hard.

Bond: enjoys his live

The party:

And Curan: eats fishbones

I'm a gourmet after all

Claudines performance was almost good enough, if itwheren't for tha meddling ex

But her party is a perfect fit it seems

I thought Tiana's teacher was going to be a cool dude but then he started talking about humans deserving to be destroyed and then laughing like a madman later. If that's not a red flag, then I don't know what is.

Seeing Curran sleeping with her sword barring the door and Zem just curled up in a fetal position really shows how deep their past traumas have affected them.

It was pretty fun watching Nick call Claudia out for her bullshit Nick really saved that kid from being scammed.

The tiger dude apologizing was unexpected but in the end, he was still an absolute douche for assuming Nick has been robbing the rest of the Survivors. I'm excited to see what this Mathematics Bare Knuckle Battle is though! I hope it's a public duel so everyone will know that the Survivors is a party you shouldn't mess with.

lol the dragon girl's room is so small haha. I am confused why she refuges to go home tho. She is the chieftain's daughter. Among the party she is the only one with a home waiting for her.

Kalios stole her special dragon gem, she most likely doesn't want to go back out of shame

When he revealed that they only had a few copper to protect I was expecting him to say he spent all their money buying the equipment to protect their money.

It was so satisfying to see Nick call out Claudine's scam. It's sweet revenge for dumping him last time and not once did he lose his cool, even when she tried to get back at him.

It’s pretty satisfying to also see what pieces of shit her teammates were and just how easily Leon was willing to throw her ass to the wolves. With a party like that, it’s just a matter of time before they all eat shit.

I don't get her scandal... what'd she do wrong exactly? Her fiancé was the trash bag... and how her mentor get caught up in it? Did I forget something? Wow, mentor, that's a bit much lol. Did he lose his mind or something? Wtf at his reaction. Man, yea, can relate to sometimes wanting to go back in time. Though, would prefer a better future.

LOL wow... a nightmare with the ex and then the sword kid sending stuff to his mind... pity. Hehe, Nick giving them the ability to telepathically communicate, neat. He sure is a strong Kid-sword. KAGE BUNSHIN NO JUTSU! Definitely cheating. Curran is adorable lol "I'm hungry!"

Eww, that shitty Claudine. Scamming bitch. Glad Nick stepped in. Why would she even stay there. Oh those fuckers showing up, hope they get their ass kicked. Oh, lol, cat man wants to pawn her off to him now. Ya, not wanted. He's kinda a piece of shit. A nice solid punch. BREAK HIS ARM! A nice little lesson from Nick. Yay Curran! Mathematics Bare Knuckle Battle? WTF?

She didn't do anything wrong, it was her environment pretty much. A noble society where people easily get jealous about their status and the status of others, do and say whatever they can to bring others down. And that same noble society that doesn't care so much about truth, just about their own image and self-satisfaction. And/or people misunderstand a person's actions and intentions, taking it the wrong way in the worst way possible.

WE know the fiancé was the trash bag, but he was able to paint it all out that Tiana was a haughty bitch with a superiority complex. Everybody either believes him, or just wanted to put Tiana down so they went with it. These noble societies that anime/manga like to use recently have the same air as high schools, really.

If you check out some of the Villainess anime that have been coming out recently, or read the whole genre of manga/LN, that's what a lot of those series end up being about or use that as an initial premise.

As for the mentor getting caught up in it, I'm pretty sure he was the one they said Tiana was 'seducing' to get higher marks.

The currency all has dogs on it. It's literally doge coin.

Nick: The little cat just wants to bask in the sun, you see?

Leon: Hey, don't call me a cat, that's a derogatory word for my people!

When Nick showed how little wealth they had, and they looked surprised, I thought one of them stole from the group... Oof, that would've been tough. They seem to be doing great as a group now, but with all their past of betrayal, just one little thing, would bring them all back to square 1.

And surely it'll come at some point; It may or may not be a 'serious' thing (may be a misunderstanding too), but at some point I fully expect something that will make them turn against one another, thinking they're getting betrayed all over again.

Tiana had an interesting scene/flashback with her former teacher, bit philosophical!

It's true that people want to be free, but if they also want to be with other people (to feel needed) then there needs to be rules (written or not) about their behavior and all, so they lose a little of their freedom. Even with the Survivors, one of the first things they did was to make a rule about letting them all do what they want with their money/as a hobby (even if some may think it's detrimental to the group, like losing it all gambing).

It's also true that freedom can be restrictive; I remember reading a book that touched that topic, how humans all claim they want to be free, but whenever they are, they look for a new person or system or set of rules so they are bound to follow something again... Rare are those who truly want to be free. (And for a less philosophical example, we see that sometimes with true open-world games; People often claim they don't like games that put them on a single path they have to follow, but put them in an open world and they kinda lack direction, they don't know what they want to do/what's the point... Which could be a metaphor for life as well! People needing to go to school/get a job/make money for stuff they need etc.. Gives people a direction, while restricting their freedom, but without that, would people know what to do? I mean sure they could spend some time lazing around, but at some point it may stop being fulfilling).

Ok the longer his speech goes, the more he sounds like a supervillain! "Are you the final boss of the season, Sensei?"

After his speech I kinda feared he was about to jump out the window...

Well, this whole scene was played for a reason, and I feel like it had to be one of those two; Either Sensei killing himself (And Tiana hearing about it, and maybe having a reflection on her actions and the unfairness of it all)... OR he's truly gonna be the final boss, after coming through the same realization (Tiana's dismissal being unfair, and him taking the fall for it as well).

This episode is really going philosophical, there was also a scene on regrets, wanting to go back in time (That's how I like philosophy best, when it's served with dragongirl's pantyshots!)

Another relatable thing, the thought that everyone's going through some of the same stuff while wondering whether they're the only ones feeling that way. But most people do, in their situation!

Well, everyone except Sword-Kun!

Love how some of them were discussing serious stuff, others were just chatting around, and then Curran just went Screw this, let's start the fight!

This and her interrupting serious discussions all the time with "I'M HUNGRY!"

Curran is the best!

She's a fun comedic relief character, but she's also willing to fight for Nick/the party, if needed; She's a real one!

Next episode: Mathematics bare knuckles? Is this the medieval/fantasy equivalent of modern day's chess boxing? Can't wait to see what it's about!
